Mesa Modern Dentistry and Orthodontics

I went to Dr. Ho for a second opinion about cavities. She greeted me in the waiting area and walked me to her office. We had a nice conversation about why I was there. Then I was taken to get X-​rays, and finally taken to the exam room. It was a really nice office and super friendly staff. Probably the best office staff I have ever experienced. The dental assistant, Wanda, was so kind and it really made me feel comfortable in the office. I’ll be going back to get my cavities filled there because I was really impressed with the professionalism of the entire office.

When I first came here, I had dental x-​rays in hand both panoramic and bite wings. As a new patient I was under the impression that x-​rays would not be needed again especially because it was within a 3 month period. The last dental office I went to definitely did unnecessary things and I ended up out of pocket a couple hundred dollars. So of course I will be extremely paranoid that I’m going to get stuck with an out of pocket bill again. So, Dr Ho assured me that she would make certain that the x-​rays for her practice would be covered. Then onto the cleaning the hygienist was a bit rough the first time, but that’s not really a big deal. At the end of the cleaning they were saying I needed laser treatment for my teeth because of the increased risk for gingivitis, again I told them I am worried about it being covered by my insurance. They left the room and had their front office check benefits and came back again to assure that it was covered and said that I would only owe $ 19 at the end of the visit. I happily paid knowing that it was just a small fee for their service of the laser treatment or that’s what I thought it was for…
Now skip to a return visit I had for my 6 month cleaning and check up. Again, they wanted x-​rays… I asked the hygienist why and she said bite wings were used to find cavities… Okay… So I agreed. What I found out later online is that usually that’s requires for people at high risk for tooth decay. Which I’m not… The same hygienist was there and this experience was much better… At the end of the cleaning the hygienist said okay time for your Floride treatment and you will be done. So naturally I thought that’s something that’s supposed to be included… It wasn’t and paid another $ 19 out of pocket. Then when Dr Ho came in she didn’t even look at my x-​rays while I was in the room…
After this visit I was paranoid that my insurance wouldn’t cover x-​rays again, so I looked it up online and found that the insurance said that I owed $ 200+ out of pocket… Now Dr Ho kept her word by saying that she would pay out of pocket herself if insurance didn’t cover the first visit… But I don’t really trust that it was still saying that I owed money to the practice. It’s like they are constantly trying to sneak in extra things to charge your insurance, which in turn if they don’t cover falls to you. I’m going to wait on what the insurance says on THIS exam before I decide if I want to go back again. But I’m looking at a no since I feel like this practice is trying to constantly look for more ways to get money. It’s too bad because the front, the hygienist, and the Dr are all VERY nice.

Our first visit was today. My daughter saw Dr. Ho and she was very nice and did a great job of explaining the treatment plan. We will be back to see them soon to get her cavities filled.

Awesome dentist. Dr. Ho personally greets each of her patients and really listers to what the problems are. Follow up is awesome the next day the hygienist called and did follow up the next day. The following day after there closing hours Dr Ho called and followed up. Very very professional and they set a relaxing tone. Nice to find a dentist who cares about you and not just a paycheck. Recommendation FIVE STARS. Highly recommend this dentist.

I was pleasantly surprised that I only had to wait about 15 minutes to see the dentist.
The staff was super friendly, so be prepared to answer a few personal questions about your job & home life. Other then that, it was a quick and painless experience.

Where do I begin… First off, you can’t beat it as far as location goes. I mean a chipotle AND a fire house subs next door??? That right there deserves 5 stars. On a more serious note, the staff there was absolutely amazing. The ladies are as sweet as ever and very sincere. What a warm welcoming place to be. The dentist Dr. Ho was a very smart women who knew what she was talking about and to top it off she has a great sense of humor. My dental assistant Roxanne was veryyyy nice, sweet, caring, and funny. I highly suggest this office. I almost can’t wait to go back for anther appointment :) ignore the other lady’s review. This place deserves a 100 stars.

They have been nothing but awesome!
So I’ve been waiting about 4 weeks to post this review to see if my 2^nd and 3^rd times to the office get any better than the first.
I had a rough experience on the first go-​round, but I talked it out with the front desk staff (which deserve 6 STARS just for putting up with me) and I thought we had it resolved.
It was basically miscommunication where as a new patient I didn’t get to see the dentist after my 2 hour cleaning since someone misunderstood and thought I wanted to come back next week and do that. Um? Anyway they made it up to me by giving me free custom made teeth whitening trays. Which I thought was going to be awesome. (details later)
I came back a couple weeks later to finally see the dentist and she said I needed to pull all my wisdom teeth… okay… so I started setting up appointments to do that, and then I started to read online that if you’re 30 (I’m 32) and you haven’t had any problems with your wisdom teeth then you probably won’t.
Okay, okay I know the internet can be a hit or miss source of information, so when I called back to ask the doc about it, her attitude was sort of like — well, it’s up to you.
Um. How come 2 hours before it was «you have to pull them» and then when I call back it’s like «well, whatever — it’s up to you.»?
Then the teeth whitening thing. I was actually very excited and appreciative of that. (Like I said, the front desk staff is amazing. They will really go out of their way to try and make things right)
However, when I went to pick them up the receptionist gave me some very brief instructions on how to use them, so I figured it wasn’t brain surgery or anything and I tried it out that night.
I did everything exactly as the verbal and written instructions were given, but the whitening solution actually burned my gums and left a sort of reddish black mark that was so sensitive I couldn’t even brush my teeth in that area for a few days! (It did heal up, by the way, but I think I’d rather have slightly off-​white teeth than risk burning my gums again.)
Overall, I think I’ve tried really hard to like this place and to give them an honest try. But maybe we are just not a good fit.
I’m sure they have fully satisfied patients. Maybe I’m just a special case. But I’ve kind of given up trying and will be going somewhere else from now on.
