MO’s Memphis Originals

This place no longer exists. Owner shut it down about 5 years ago. Brother Junipers has expanded into its location

It is good. The amount is really a lot. The taste is good too. The environment is okay.

MO’s, located near the U of M, is an anomaly in Memphis – a spot whose sole focus is supporting local artists and musicians, and who actually put their money where their mouths are (there’s probably a pun in there, but I’m at work and don’t have time to fish it out). MO’s provides a stage for local musicians 6 days a week, features a huge selection CDs of nothing but local music, and exhibits paintings, drawings, and photographs by local artists on its walls. Nita Black may seem to be just an unassuming, helpful server behind the counter, but she’s actually the mastermind of what she hopes (and I hope) will continue to grow as a «hub» for the creative set in Memphis. And she serves killer eats (homemade soups, gumbo, sandwiches, and burgers) and fresh coffee to boot.
AMENDMENT: Mo’s is now open only in the evenings and only for dessert and coffee (too bad!). HOWEVER, the new Mo’s Greek Café just opened downtown at the old Stop 345 location… it’s excellent.
