Holiday Inn Memphis-Downtown

Started off with valet which was super friendly and took care of us quickly. The guest services was great, check in not till 4 but we got our rooms at noon and placed us on the 10^th floor with an excellent view. The beds were very comfy and pillows were fluff. I usually pick doubletree when I stay downtown but this will be my spot from here on out. Great place to stay

I recently stayed here during a business trip, I normally stay at the Peabody across the street but it was all booked and the Holiday Inn is very centrally located right downtown (its big selling point). Its only a few blocks to Beal street or the trolly line. The hotel staff are very friendly and generally helpful, my room was clean enough, the linens and such worn to the degree you might expect from an urban holiday Inn. My stay was not terrible, but this place does not offer anything especially terrific either. For the record, I did use the valet parking and they did not damage my car.

There are many issues with this hotel though I will say it’s location is very nice. Close to the Mississippi River and the restaurants nearby are great.
However:
1. check-​in is 4PM… I was told NOT ONE room would be available until 4PM… until I complained to the manager and was able to get in a room at 2PM. I have to mention… their concern for my well-​being was discounted by the manager and the receptionist at the desk. Abhorrent customer service.
2. The guest bathroom on the 1^st floor had a piece of toilet paper between the stall doors b/​c otherwise you could see through it while someone was using the restroom. This isn’t fixable?
3. The shower never got hot… I took a cold shower the evening of my check-​in and a tepid shower the morning after.
4. Turned the air conditioner on… and it made such a loud noise… I had to turn it off to sleep.
5. Choose the Hilllllllttttooooonnn (IHG won’t allow me to use the correct name and submit this review) down the street. You’re likely to get better services and a newer hotel.

I would love to give this hotel 4 stars. The location is great, the staff is very polite and helpful and the rooms are clean and nice, but… After driving away from hotel about 25 miles or so my car told me I had low tire pressure. I pulled into gas station to air it up and noticed the sidewall of the tire was ripped and the wheel scratched, it was ruined. I had to replace the tire $ 150. This positively happened with the valet service at the holiday inn. If you stay here inspect your vehicle before leaving.

Keeping with the Holiday Inn theme on our travels, my sister and I wanted to find a spot that was downtown that’d we’d be able to leave the car at and walk around at night without having to drive.
For a Sunday night, a non-​smoking, king-​size bed room was $ 160 + valet that was $ 22/​day. You are able to take your car in and out if you wanted to, but we chose not to considering where we were. The Holiday Inn is really centrally located and is easy to get to great bars and restaurants in the area.
We did hit up the pool for a hot second. Not sure if you’re allowed to smoke out there, but a guy was. The shadows caught up to us pretty quickly at 6:15pm which is a bummer since that seems like the time one would enjoy lounging in the sun. This location would do swell with a jacuzzi, in my opinion. On our floor there was an obnoxiously loud ice maker that sounded like someone vacuuming in the hallway, but we couldn’t really hear it in our room.
The view from our room was meh, but the bed was über comfy, and (not sure if we were just a little tipsy or tired) but the sheets smelled amazingly fresh. I can quote my sister having said, «I need to ask the maid what they wash the sheets in…» before slipping into a good night’s sleep.
I would definitely recommend this location if you’re looking to hit up Memphis downtown at a good rate to split with someone! Head out to the pool early if you want to catch some rays, and avoid a room by the ice machine!

Can’t recommend highly enough the staff here, they were so friendly and helpful wish we could have stayed longer. Felt so welcome at all times. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Would have been nice to have a fridge. Or a kettle for tea drinkers.
But really they were great.

After a long day of travel we arrived! The staff was super sweet and hospitable. Our room was nothing special but suited us just fine. We had a view of the Peabody and were given lots of great recommendations of where to grab some food! We will be traveling back to Memphis soon and look forward to staying again.

It is a Holiday Inn, but the location is top notch. Heart of downtown with access to everything. I never really noticed this hotel until this weekend. Perfect place if you plan on having a late night of weird.

Went here for a conference, and I would not recommend it. I’ll be brief:
(1) Yes, it is in the downtown area so that is convenient.
(2) Yes, there is parking and valet. But, it is ridiculously expensive but I guess you pay for the safety of your vehicle in a less than safe downtown (comparatively to the rest of the US)
(3) The conference rooms are nothing to write home about, not even the «grand ballroom» which isn’t really so grand.
Overall, I just don’t know that I would stay here if it wasn’t for conferences or business trips. You can find some place nicer for your personal vacations.

I’m forced to stay here frequently due to business. The location is good as there are many different food options. The rooms have nice TVs but they are not hooked up to HD. The pillows were not cleaned. I could smell the hair product of whoever stayed the previous night on the pillows. But my biggest complaint of all, which led me to writing this review is the hot water situation here. The past 3 times I’ve stayed here, the hot water has been lukewarm at best. The worst part is that the front desk is fully aware of the problem and it has yet to be fixed. Completely unacceptable and I would never recommend anyone ever staying here.

From the minute I walked through the doors, I was treated with kindness, friendliness and excellent service. I had booked two nights, but because of bad weather one of my flights were canceled and I was forced to spend the night at the Dallas/​Fort Worth Airport. When I arrived in the morning, I told them what happened, and they didn’t charge me for that night. Even better when I got there very early in the morning – hours before the official check in time – they found a room for me. In short, they truly babied me. Especially Stephanie at the front desk. Later, I had lunch in their understated restaurant and it was top notch. The chicken cooked impeccable and the ice coffee strong and perfect. The room was large, the bathroom, while small, was impeccably clean. But again, it all comes down the the service. I have rarely been treated so well, and I travel quite a lot for business.

Hotel was great… clean, comfortable and close proximity downtown attractions, restaurants, etcetera as well as within walking distance to Beale St.
Note that valet parking is $ 20 and there I’d no self parking available at hotel

I was on a business trip to Memphis which made me choose this hotel as it was close to my client location. The location of the hotel itself gets high points.
The two things that scored top points besides the location are the staff and the room service. I would give them 5 stars for their friendly staff (they were really good i must say) and great room service.
But here are a few things i noticed about this place which made me give it a 3 star rating.
1. Expensive parking. $ 20 a night
2. I had 6 issues during my one week stay which are as follows:
a. Noisy room on my first night stay here. I was later shifted to a different room which was calm and silent. I appreciate the fact that they were quick in changing my room.
b. The lamps in my room were flickering when i moved in. I had to call the front desk to have them replaced
c. The chair in my room was already broke. Again another service request to have it replaced. All the time the front desk was quick to have them replaced
d. It was impossible for me to control the temperature in the room. The Air Conditioners and the thermostats were old and hard to regulate. I had to switch off the AC to get a good night’s sleep.
e. The coffee machine in my room was broke. I noticed it on my 5^th day of stay but they did not replace it. Not sure why.
f. The computers next to reception area for guest use are outdated. One of it had a bad display and super slow. The other computer they had worked well but the printers weren’t functional when I tried to print to them.
3. I didn’t like the fact that some signs in this hotel were taped to the wall using a duct tape. Really? Why would you even do that.
Also, it wouldn’t be fair for me to not mention that i saw signs «Renovation in progress» signs posted in this hotel. I hope they fix atleast some of these issues.
I sure plan to stay here on my next trip to Memphis.
BTW, there are no refrigerators in the room or even a microwave. And, the TVs need an upgrade as well.

This hotel was awesome! Super impressed with the quality of the hotel and the hospitality I have received here. Shout out to my home girl Trina who works at the front desk for being so wonderful to our big group!

Great hotel. There was some construction noise when we first got there, but nothing unbearable. Stayed in one of the remodeled rooms, and it was pretty nice. Served it’s purpose as a place to crash at the end of the night. Would stay here again.

Pros: Comfy room, proximity to Beale, affordable,
Cons: View from our room was terrible (a parking garage and the broke down Benchmark), no pool/​whirlpool
Overall I have to say I was pleased with my stay. I usually like to stay in the Peabody across the street, but it was booked the weekend I visited Memphis. However, you can’t beat the location of this Holiday Inn. It was a quick 3 minute walk to Beale, and had tons of restaurant and bar choices close by.
The room was clean and comfortable. My room appeared to have been recently remodeled, and it was a good room for the price. No breakfast, pool or hot tub though. I was disappointed with that.

I was tied to the gov’t rate so I had to stay here. It didn’t have the niceties I’ve come to expect. No refrigerator or microwave, there was a coffee pot but no coffee (got some from front desk), no breakfast included, $ 12 parking. This was a bad choice for a business trip.
Room is dated, I checked the sheets and they were clean but hadn’t seen bleach in years, bathroom is ok, big tv, great location. The ears plugs had me worried but so far only slight noise. I won’t be taking my shoes off to walk on this carpet — ugh!

Just okay. Nothing special. Parking lot was full, so I had to park across the street. Think it’s a little cheaper than the daily rate here, so I guess I’m okay with that. The rooms look & feel outdated because of the chosen décor. Very convenient to everything downtown.
Overpriced breakfast. $ 10.95 for full and $ 7.95 for continental.

This was our home away from home during our stay in Memphis. It is an older downtown hotel, right across Union Avenue from the famous Peabody Hotel. Like all older hotels, it has its quirks and charm. The quirk was the elevators. They are old, they are in the process of being replaced, and the service elevator to the parking garage was most fun.
The hotel is walking distance from Beale Street, many good restaurants, the Gibson Guitar Factory and the Memphis Rock and Blues Museum.
The food in the restaurant, at least for breakfast was good. The coffee was good.
The staff was helpful, friendly and made our stay enjoyable. I would recommend staying here if in Memphis, and would go back to this particular Holiday Inn Select in the future.

We stayed here this past weekend and had a great experience.
Staff was friendly. The lobby was festively decorated for the holiday (I’m a sucker for Christmas decorations). Parking was only $ 12 a night.
Our room was clean. Sheets were immaculate and the beds were comfortable. Bath and Body Works toiletries = yay! I slept like a rock, I didn’t hear any of the noise from the street.
Excellent location, my dude was able to walk to Beale Street and back to pick up some Dyers take out in less than 10 minutes. Rendezvous is right behind the hotel. Lots of good eats to be had in the area!
The only bad: the parking lot elevators are incredibly slow. Take the stairs.
