Stopped by the North Face in Tyson’s Corner this morning. I was surprised with the poor level of service I received. I had to hunt down a sales person to ask a simple question. When it was time to check out, I once again had to find a sales person. Overall poor customer service, but the North Face has quality products. I will continue to shop at the North Face hopefully my next visit to the Tyson’s store will be better. Rustic Traveller

I just had an unfortunate customer service experience at this store. Spent 20 minutes looking for a coat — nobody asked if I needed assistance. Found a coat I liked but needed a larger size. After 10 minutes, I found someone that could check on the coat I needed. He reluctantly said he’d check, went in back and then came back out empty handed. All he said to me was«nope». No offer to order it, etc. With brick and mortar stores struggling, I’m always perplexed by abysmal customer. I’ll try REI instead.

This is my favorite North Face store that I’ve been to. It is nicely organized, is large, and has a good selection of items. I like North Face because of their lifetime warranty on their products.

This store is a tad small and crowded, but the staff here is very nice and helpful. The act that their jackets have a lifetime warranty and are machine washable is awesome!

The North Face has a very simple, utilitarian look in its products. Simple jackets with well placed pockets in a monocromatic color scheme, often all-black. Well-constructed backpacks that provide ample storage without looking bulky, also sold in single, dark colors. Despite the basic appearence of North Face products, they are extremely popular In the D.C. area with hundreds of shops stocking their apparel and equipment. When I heard that a TNF retail store opened in Tysons Corner, I was hopeful that I might find some unique, colorful products not sold at other retailers. Instead I found that exact same merchandise sold at R.E.I., Dick’s, or Hudson Trail Outfitter. Very disappointing, why would The North Face bother creating an epoynomous retail concept that carries the same products sold at resellers? They could at least carry the designer collaborations sold at boutiques, but no such luck; the staff didn’t even know what the Steep Tech line was. To offset this redundancy, TNF could provide superior service over resellers, however the staff is disinterested and does not know their own product. It seems as if they are only there for the 50% employee discount. Also, there are no markdowns here while sales can be found at most TNF retailers. There is really no incentive to shop here over another North Face stockist.
