Smooth Exposure

Kinda felt like I got conned and taken advantage of at smooth exposure. I feel bad writing this because the associate I worked with was really nice but when I was their to purchase a package of peel she kept bringing products to the desk, I finally bought some product but regretted it later and went back the next day to return the un used products (which cost about $ 250 for a trial kit). After being unable to just walk into the store because they only have one associate working so they lock the door when they are with a client, I was informed over the phone that all sales are finial and its posted all over the product wall.
A) it doesn’t say all sales are finial on the receipt
B) I was never verbally told all sales are finial
C) I never went to the product wall to see the said signs because the products were pushed onto me
I really hate writing such a negative review but it’s been about two weeks since this happened and I’m still upset about it. I will most likely go to the better business bureau about this since if all sales are finial it shod be clearly written on the receipt. Isn’t that some sort of rule?

I bought a groupon for a purity peel a few months ago. I was unfortunately late for my appointment, but they said it was ok and that she would still take me that day. I filled out paperwork and waited about 40min. before the woman doing facials came out, changed her mind, and told me I would have to reschedule!
I finally rescheduled and had my peel yesterday. The atmosphere was not relaxing at all. No calming music. I laid there with my clothes on on top of the bed, a bit chilly. Especially, since the woman got my facial to run down my neck and into my hair! The experience lasted about 20min. even though I paid for a 60min. peel. Very disappointed. Won’t go there again. Not worth the money!

Called this place to inquire about hours and services since I have never been here before and already the women who answered the phones at their McLean office were rude! They both had condescending attitudes and bad customer service. Unfortunately, one of their services was gifted to me; otherwise I would be spreading the word to stay away from this place. My friend would be very embarrassed if told her of this experience. My expectations for this place is low but will update Unilocalers as to how they fared after my first visit. Standby…

I was on vacation in the Washington DC area and was looking for a place to get my monthly B-​12 and B-​Complex shots. Many offices I called required you to jump through a lot of hoops to get the vitamin injections (i.e. Schedule an appointment with a doctor, get a prescription, go to the pharmacy and fill it, then come back for the injection). I was under a time constraint and was looking for somewhere quick. That’s when I found Smooth Exposure.
When I went in, there was no wait at all. And, the shots are administered by an actual doctor (a lot of places hire nurses to give the shots). I was also interested in a cortisol shot for my neck pain and the doctor was honest with me and told me that he couldn’t do it in the neck. I was very satisfied with the service I received.
If you go in for any injectables, be sure to call ahead of time because the doctor is only there during certain hours.

I went in for a Specialicious coupon to get a Vitamin C Facial Peel. Finding the location was fine. They provide thorough instructions on how to find it.
I had several issues with this place due to my experience. First, when someone called me to schedule my appointment (after I left a VM), they called and didnt say their spa name and just started talking about scheduling my appointment. That was my first taste of their unprofessionalism. Then after I went in for the appointment on a Saturday, it turned out my voucher was marked as redeemed. I provided my voucher number ahead of time and they did not validate it. So I went in for no reason as I was turned away for my service that day since Specialicious isnt open on Saturday to resolve issues.
My peel experience: There is no changing into anything comfortable or laying on a nice warm bed/​sheets. You remain in your street clothes and you lay on the wax paper sheet covering the bed… The treatment room was a bit chilly so I lay there the entire time with the bright white halogen lights above, a bit chilly and in my clothes with my shoes on the bed. Felt like I was a lab rat or laying in an office cube. FYI It’s not a peel at all. It felt more like an exfoliation… with a vitamin C serum where I couldn’t tell the difference regardless. I went back to the site to check out more details about this particular treatment but there is none.
Dede, my aesthetician, did ask me what my skin concerns were. and stated that the facial peel would consist of 4 layers and that it’d leave my skin glowing, soft and refreshed or something… I noticed that she did some of my facial treatments with gloves on. Pretty odd to me… Each of my 4 layers was pretty quick. and each layer was left on my face and piled onto the prior layer… which was also pretty odd. All in all the entire facial peel took about 20 – 30 minutes and 30 might be a stretch. There was a vitamin C treatment/​serum, exfoliation, another vitamin C treatment of some sort and then you get a sunscreen moisturizer to end it with. And that was the entire treatment… In the background between layers, when she was rinsing off and washing something off there were metal trays/​bowls or something clanking and I could hear the sink running. There was nothing relaxing, calming or soothing for this entire experience.
When I was finally done with the treatment there was still some makeup left on my face that she said in the beginning that she’d remove and that I didint need to worry about removing myself before the treatment. That never really happened so I removed myself.
At the end, Dede checked me out at the desk. Then she handed me a survey for me to fill out that asked Yes/​No if I was satisfied with the service and if I would return. I wanted to mark both NO but it was awkward as I was filling it out right in front of her. So I marked in between as an Undecided. The last box I recall was a «What tip amount do you want to leave your aesthetician?» I find that to be a presumptuous and ill mannered question to receive especially right in front of your aesthetician. I left a few bucks and left. I had to go back in as I forgot something and i hear the other lady in the back yell out to Dede «Dede is she gone yet?» I found that to be very rude and unprofessional. I’m VERY GLAD that this coupon was NOT used for my friends mother as it would’ve been very embarrassing and that I used it instead. But this was also a HUGE waste of my time. I noticed NOTHING different with my skin right after and now 2 days after. Waste of my time and I don’t plan on returning.
Customer Service is not a top priority here and its very sad as these social coupons should bring IN new customers… I hope they read all their reviews and LEARN from their mistakes. I’m embarrassed for this spa as I’ve been to plenty of them and this is not run well. I’ve already told my friends not to go there which is a shame as word of mouth is GOLD to women and friends. I’m sure it could have been a fluke and others have had a good experience there so I give it a 2 star review and not a 1.

Disappointing. If you have orange hands and feet with your spray tan you will get an offer for another spray tan. DONT purchase anything — you can’t return it. I’ve gotten spray tans for years and know a bad spray tan when I see it. THIS IS A BAD SPRAY TAN. There are other places to get spray tans in the area — Google. To add on to the disappointment, a facial cleanser was sold to me, which I never opened. They would not take a refund. POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES. WARNING — DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE.

I purchased a Groupon for 2 IPL photofacials. I was skeptical as I’ve had photofacials in the past and know what to expect. This place exceeded my expectations. I’ve gotten the results I hoped for and will definitely be back. The place was a bit hard to find but I just put in the address of a nearby restaurant and drove straight to it. The staff also provided detail driving instructions prior to my appointment. The staff is very friendly and explains all the steps of the procedure, what to expect after and how to care for your skin.
4 stars because I’ve only had experience with 1 of their services.

My experiences were DISAPPOINTING!!!
The B-​12 shots and IPL facial did’t do anything…, but that’s the least disappointing experience…
The staff are rude and snobs!
Especially the new lady, Yvette, who is very unprofessional.
I’m upset that I paid for these pricey services and treated the way I was. ;(

I purchased a series of 2 IPL treatments. The scheduling was easy. The site is difficult to find but thanks to previous reviews I was able to find it. I have had other IPL treatments and can say that Smooth Exposure does not compare. The machine is an older one. The personnel were okay. My issue is with the quality of the services. Not very good.

First off I would like to state the located is a little tricky. It is located in the older shopping plaza that has a barber shop at the intersection. They are slightly hidden next to a shop around the corner with a banner out front. Not sure if that will help, but there it is.
Anyways, the facility is tiny, but the staff are friendly. I am happy with my first IPL treatment and cannot wait to see the final results. It didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would and I was surprised my face did not look red or raw after the treatment.
I will keep updating as the progress is made. I am hoping my freckles and skin spots will be removed.

I have severe anemia, so severe that I have to take iron pills every day twice a day just to be slightly anemic. When Smooth Exposure first offered vitamin B-​12 shots, I was skeptical. The ladies there were really nice and explained to me what the B-​12 shots were going to do. They told me that it wouldn’t work if I wasn’t B-​12 deficient. I wasn’t sure if I was because my labs from my doctor never showed this. So I bought the B-​12 shots package.
It was so incredible what it did. I saw result almost within 3 weeks of having the B-​12 shots. I had more energy and I wasn’t tired all the time. My severe anemia went from really bad to just slightly anemic. The best news of this is that I dropped 19 lbs in 3 weeks. I had no change in diet and I had more energy.
The owner and the doctor was very supportive and talked me about ways to get myself to better. They have great customer service. They do facials and skin care as well. They always make me feel very welcomed.

I heard about this place from my friend, as i was looking to get started for laser hair removal. I called and made the appointment. The owner is very friendly, and she use the products that she sales, so that’s a plus!!. The technician is very friendly and explains the steps in details, how to take care after, how often i should come, etc. They also provide referral discounts and They are always very accommodating with my short notice appointment request!!! In general I am very satisfied with their service and planning to use them for a long time.

I recently re-​visited Smooth Exposure for a air brush tan and I have to say that I have never had a bad experience there. I started going last year for formal events because I do not want to expose myself to the tanning bed. And in my opinion having a sun glow to your formal attire just adds a little bit of sparkle to the look. I was surprised to see new management at Smooth Exposure but it was still the same feel as my previous visits. I was used to having the previous owner, Robin do my spray tanning but a new lady was just as good and helpful. I am always very pleased with the end result and will continue going back to Smooth Exposure for future spray tanning sessions. I have a very light/​pale complexion so it does not look like I have been tanning too much but just gives me a nice glow. I highly recommend trying them out if you need a last minute tanning session before an event or if you even want to add some color to your skin for the summer.

I came here for a last minute airbrush ONE day before my wedding. I had NEVER done airbrush tanning and had minor tan lines, but didn’t have time to set something up weeks before the big day. The gentleman I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and informative. He definitely made me feel at ease and I was immediately under the impression that they knew what they were doing so I decided to take a gamble and set up an appt. They were also were very accommodating to the short notice.
Robin did my airbrushing and was so kind! I felt comfortable and the color looked absolutely amazing. It was just that perfect sun kissed look I was hoping for and wasn’t orange or unnaturally dark. There were no streaks or splotchiness whatsoever. She didn’t do my face, but it still looked completely natural and not delineated. It’s completely custom color and they save the concoction on file so they can pull it or change it next time if need be. It developed into this perfect glow and I was obsessed at how awesome the color looked for days. Although it was my first time, I was impressed with the results. I am now a fan and will be coming back.
