Wake Up Marco

Wake Up Marco is the absolute best place for some phenomenal coffee. Chain coffee like Dunkin Donuts and Satanbucks doesn’t even begin to compare. You haven’t had real coffee until you’ve had this!
Always smooth, and never in need of any extra sweetness; perfectly made every single time. Oscar is a coffee genius, and a fantastic conversationalist! Even if you don’t like coffee, chances are you will love this; it’s worth the visit just to chat with the owner! You tha man, Oscar! Until next time!

THE place to go to start your day in Marco. Every coffee or latte I’ve had has been perfect and the baked goods are fresh! Besides the amazing coffee, you must go to meet Oscar, the owner. He is so personable and does a great job explaining the various beans.
Don’t waste your time going anywhere else for coffee in Marco! Go to Wake Up Marco and say hi to Oscar; you’ll be glad you did!

Recommended by locals, and have to say it was great coffee. Oscar was very friendly and welcoming and our drinks were made to order. The fresh bakery items were delicious as well. The lemon poppyseed muffin and blueberry scones were delicious.

Fantastic coffee shop! if I could give this coffee shop a 6^th star I would. it’s very rare that anyone on Unilocal gets and maintains 5 Stars after 50 reviews. Oscar does this with great coffee, delicious bakery goods and a warm personality. Wake Up Marco is a must hit spot for any fan of a good cup of joe.

Took a motorcycle ride out to Marco Island and was looking for a good place to take a break. We found it. Great coffee and the pistachio muffins are great too! We will be back!

I had a habiscus iced tea and it was really good. This place is cozy and a nice place for a drink with seating inside and outside. Owner is very nice and runs a great business. You must check it out when in the neighborhood.

As an amateur barista, Portland, OR local, and coffee fanatic myself, I can attest that Oscar is the real thing. He’s a really good barista and the best I’ve found on the island so far.
If you think you like coffee, skip Starbucks, skip the sugar-​syrup flavorings, grab a plain cappuccino or espresso from Oscar, and taste what you’ve been missing!

Friendly service from the owner, Oscar, and it’s great to support a small local business. Drip coffee was fine for me but the latte milk seemed to have an off taste. Didn’t have time to give them a second try on the latte. Prices are reasonable.
Located next to Island pizza. Decent parking lot with good availability in the morning hours.

Consistently the finest cup of coffee I’ve ever had. Just had an expression a few days back and marveled at how smooth and tasty it was. Came back the following day and had another. Again amazing. Oscar is a very talented barista. His explanations as to how he prepares coffee is fascinating. Bought a pound of Guatemalan grind to take home. It is very good but not close to what I get there. The pastries he sells as usual were delicious too.
Forget about the others and try Wake Up Marco. You won’t be disappointed.

But what sets this place apart is the owner /​barista. His knowledge, humor, expertise. Entertaining, educational. Wonderful experience.

This place offers «Specialty» coffee which is better than Premium coffee (Starbucks and most other corporate chains), so I’m told. The owner, Oscar is exceptionally knowledgeable in the various processes of coffee regions, farming, harvesting, selection, roasting, grinding, brewing and tasting. He has a wealth of information and is anxious to share his passion.
I went with the Sumatran dark roast, but Oscar let me try both the Ethiopian and the Guatamalen just so I could practice proper tasting technique. (Be sure to rinse out your mouth between roasts).
I noticed a variety of baked goods such as bagels, muffins and cookies, but all I wanted at the moment was to get my motor to start. They also have a nice espresso machine if you desire high octane.
«Wake Up Marco» is set back off the road a bit, with minimum signage, but plenty of parking. There’s a nice counter to sit and enjoy your coffee, as well as, a few tables and chairs. The place has a clean, refreshing mom ‘n’ pop approach stepping well-​away from the ultra commercial, excessive consumer consistentency of corporate brands.
I highly recommend stepping outside your comfort zone and trying these organic coffees. I can’t wait until tomorrow morning so I can «Wake Up» with Oscar!

After being on a cruise ship with horrible coffee, my wife and I travelled across Alligator Alley to the gulf coast side of Florida. I’d already Unilocaled «coffee houses» and so we were intentionally headed to Wake Up Marco in hopes of discovering a genuine specialty coffee house.
Wake Up Marco is in the upper 2% of all coffee houses I’ve ever been in. OSCAR the owner and resident entertainer KNOWS coffee. He knows how to make it do what he wants it to do! Not only will he deliver a superior cup of coffee (latte, espresso, cap, americano, pour over, drip, etc.), but he does it with humor, wit and a story. You can tell that he genuinely loves what he does, loves coffee, and enjoys his customers.
My wife and I ended up at Wake Up Marco every day we were on Marco Island. We drank his drinks, bought his beans and even bought a piece of coffee brewing equipment.
I simply cannot say enough about Oscar and Wake Up Marco. If you understand specialty coffee (not starbucks), you’ll truly be glad you walked in to Oscar’s shop.

Marco! All the earlier five stars reviews are so true! This man is unique and soooo supernice!
Besides all the coffee he also sells sandwiches that you can get cold or warm — just say. Any preference is «no problem» for Marco.
There are seating both outside and inside.
We had sandwiches with pork which were really good. We had iced coffee but they get watery really quickly. Add milk and raw sugar for best taste.
We emptied the 20oz glasses quickly and went for salty caramel latte and chai latte — both iced. Especially the chai was superduper! Ask for it, it’s not on the menu. It probably is amazing if hot.
I must go for a five star! For sure!
