if you’re careful in ordering, the food is fine and a bargain. The house special Mai Fun is my favorite. the«home made iced tea» excellent, the dumplings fine, the vegetable soup fine. if you’re a regular, the food will always be fresh. Find your favorite foods and stick to them. the owners couldn’t be nicer.

Got delivery from there a couple of times. Then the last couple of times I call, I’m told 13 blocks is too far to deliver. Lame service.

My last three chicken and broccoli orders haven’t been as tasty as usual. The sauce was bland and I could taste the fish oil which is a turn-off for me. It also appears the white rice sides are smaller. So I haven’t ordered in a while, just thought you should know.

It is as good as it gets in Washington Heights. You just have to know what to order. Some items are really decent: fried shrimp dumplings, spring rolls, the fried chicken, yang chow fried rice. Delivery is lightning fast and courteous. You can ask for free bottles of water instead of soda. I tried all the Chinese restaurants in this neighborhood. I would say each has its strengths and *many* weaknesses. Just order the right items. See my reviews of the other places. Warning: I am not impressed with the seafood entrees or the soups or the tofu dishes. The necessary turn over of inventory is not happening there. The chicken is decent, however. Unquestionably the staff is nice and you get a lot of food for your money. However, our first order will likely also be our last. The sesame noodles had a very gooey consistency but amazingly almost no flavor. The spicy garlic eggplant was decent in flavor, but a bit monotonous — not broken up with a single vegetable or texture point so the whole dish is rather soft and gooey. Lastly and worst was the sesame bean curd — the tofu was very spongy and just completely swimming in a sesame sauce so sweet that it tasted like eating a jelly donut. In the large order there were just 3 small pieces of broccoli hiding in the bottom. It’s edible if you’re in a pinch, but from our limited experience I would say that you could do a lot better for cheap Chinese food.

They’ve been continually accommodating of all the different special requests I’ve tried, despite any language barrier. But, with multiple trips now safely under my belt since my initial review, I’m going to downgrade a star due to lack of consistency. Still, better than everything else around!

I’ve always been hesitant to each cheap chinese food in NYC, but these guys do it right. Clean, tons of options with large servings and fresh, quality ingedients; many only $ 5.00 A few of tasty suggestions: 1. House Special Mei Fun 2. Fried Pork Dumplings 3. Sweet and Sour Chicken(all white meat!) An added bonus is the family that runs Yang Garden are very nice people.
