I think one star is too good for them they deserve 0 stars because both the lady and the man that take your over the phone orders are extremely rude they always have an attitude and they hang up the phone before you even finish your order, they treat you like if you are begging them for free food, I’m not gonna lie the food is amazing but they need to learn how to treat their customers. I won’t ever spend my hard earned money there again

Really 3.5 Sweet and sour chicken & the dumplings were great. My rice wasn’t very warm, but that’s not a deal breaker. Ordered«pancakes» weren’t sure if they were going to be scallion or peking duck-esque pancakes. They came wrapped up in saran wrap and freezing cold like they had just been pulled out of the fridge and thrown in the bag.

Lightning quick delivery of delicious tasting Chinese fare. I’ve ordered twice from them and both times the food was superb. My recommendations include the Hot & Sour Soup, Chicken & Eggplant entrée, General Tso Chicken(unbeatable), Cantonese Wontons with sesame sauce, Kung Po Shrimp. They advertise as No 1 for a reason. Highly recommended!

Very good Chinese food, and well worth the price. I am not a big Chinese food fan, but this was tasty, delivered fast, was warm upon arrival and really good. I will most certainly order again from this place.

Has ownership changed or is there a new chef? I just ordered from here, and everything tastes different and a bit«off»…even the beef is a bit gristly. I live a block away and delivery took over an hour. Sad to have a neighborhood institution lose favor from this recent order.

I used to be a big fan — only ordered from them. I’ve been cooking mainly Chinese food my whole life and while No 1 is nothing like homemade, I liked how fresh the veggies were. But then the food started being blander. When I gave up red meat, my choices became seriously limited. I started ordering their shrimp dishes more often even though the shrimp was clearly cheap frozen — till I received one that was truly inedible. The shrimp was translucent — so it wasn’t fully cooked. Tried to eat it but wound up tossing it. Couldn’t eat shrimp again for months. I’m now seeking a new Chinese take-out in the neighborhood.

Fast delivery! Food always comes hot and delicious. Love the sesame chicken! Online ordering is super easy. No 1 is easily the best Chinese in the heights!

Worst experience. I ordered a soup. When it arrived all the soup was leaking cos of the cracks on a plastic container. I called them and asked them for refund but they just don’t understand English. They kept asking me what«leaking» means and saying that is how the soup is supposed to be. Seriously… I am not sure if I am getting foods there anymore.

It’s def good Chinese food but the lady on the phone literally yelled at me because I wanted to give her my cell phone number. Doesn’t seem like the friendliest type.

We have a love-hate relationship. There are weekends, where I am sure I am keeping them in business(lol I order from my apt, my parents, my friends and have them all ordering from here too). I like their food, and some times they love me and deliver and some times they want to argue delivery over a quarter(seriously, 25 cents). And, I refuse to budge. I dislike that your experience with this place is so dependent on whom answers your phone call(there is «the man» whatever you order, he will say it’s $ 8.00(even when it’s usually 6.25) and then there’s the somewhat reasonable«lady»). If you are feeling lucky, give them a try! Any«Chinese» spot that has greasy, yet crisp broccoli-is alright by/with me! :)

Terrible delivery experience. Took an hour to get food on a Sunday at 3pm. The delivery guy was super rude — honestly the worst I’ve ever experienced in my life. Scallion pancakes were so greasy they were falling apart when I went to pick them up. I asked for very light sauce on the General Tso’s chicken and it came doused in it still. There are plenty of other Chinese delivery places that are better than this one around!

Typical American Chinese food resteraunt, a lot of fried food means minimum cooking skills involve. order shrimp and lobster source with fried rice and wanton soup, only seeing fresh shrimp but no lobster, the rice is okay, the wantons are horrible since they are nothing but flour skin wrapping a piece of meat that tastes like idk what. The lady can speak Spanish as well. Cheap but may not go back again. Good for people around who wants only quick hot bites.

Impressive. The food wasn’t overly greasy, everything tasted fresh, including the vegetables(apparently an issue for several restaurants in this neighborhood). For most of us, this is considered Chinese fast food as it should be. However, this is not the case. I ordered delivery, via their website, around noon on a December Saturday. It came quickly, within 25 minutes, and the delivery guy was very polite. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the neighborhood.

Very good takeout… plenty & cheap. Half chicken fried, any chicken dish, & ribs are all good choices from this bare bones, no frills outlet. Yellow rice & plenty of pork awaits you at this dive that you’ll keep wanting to come back to.

Typical Chinese food delivery based restaurant but what makes them my favorite around the heights is the following: 1) SUPERFASTDELIVERY and 2) their food is fresh, not greasy and flavorful. I would recommend their tostones. They are always crispy never soggy!!!

Really really good take out Chinese food spot. The people on the phone were super nice, the price was super affordable, the delivery came super quick, and the food was super good. I ordered General Tsao’s Chicken and it was whole chunks of chicken breast and thigh that were fried crisp and tossed with the perfect amount of delicious red pepper sauce(5⁄5). The fried rice on the side was more like yellow rice instead of fried rice. I’ve seen other Chinese food places make it like that too but I prefer the other way(3.5÷5). The egg roll was crispy and tasty, they put a napkin in the wrapper to absorb the oil which I thought was a good idea(4.5÷5).

No 1 is probably the number 1 place for Chinese Takeout above 168th but it is relatively mediocre when compared with the other true gems out there. Yes, they offer lightning fast delivery(even faster than if you were to order in person). They even have a website that enables the lazy locals to order using a credit card(yay, Paypal… not in person). If it were not for the fast delivery though, No 1 would take backseat when compared with it’s nearest competitor: Great Wall( ) who also has a website and credit card options and a nicer staff. The service at No 1 maybe efficient but they are not the nicest… sometimes blowing off a customer to take a phone order or starting an argument with a customer about something benign. The food is… okay. The General Tso’s chicken here doesn’t even come close to trumping my favorites places Peking Kitchen and Boulevard Palace( and ). Alas, only so much can be expected in the Heights.
