Finally got my calls and results/​records

COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL OFFICE MANAGEMENT. I made an appointment for my first visit with this practice a few days back on ZocDoc. It was confirmed via text and email from ZocDoc as late as 90 minutes prior to my 4PM appointment. I showed up on time for my appointment, and they were surprised that I was there, stating Dr Morgenstern had left for the day. Apparently they had emailed me from a generic email, that went straight to my junk box, and I never saw it. I didn’t even know the name of the practice, as ZocDoc only listed Dr. Morgenstern. Needless to say, they did not go thru the proper procedure to cancel the appointment thru ZocDoc and worse, they did not pick up the phone and call me. No common courtesy. I wasted half my day coming from the other side of town to make this appointment. what a waste. I’ll never go here again.

AVOID this practice — from the rude staff who can’t keep track of paperwork you’ve already submitted to the 90s era voicemail since no one answers the phone.

site for how much in drug company kickbacks some of their doctors are taking (Dr Weisberg, for instance = $ 150k a year???)

Doctor Jennifer was great ! Very nice treatment for the staffs, I did my exames in there and I totally recommended this place and this doctor. She is amazing professional.

I saw Dr. Weisberg in 2013, and he was wonderful. Unfortunately, because of his office staff and billing department, I will never go to this practice again.
I recently received a collections notice from a collections agency for an unpaid bill. I had not received a bill for that 2013 visit (assumed insurance covered the cost) and was shocked to get a collections notice. I contacted Gotham several times, and left several messages. Nobody called me back. When I finally got through to someone, the gentleman I spoke with explained that the practice’s billing department had been backed up and sent my bill to collections. He said they should not have done that and would leave them a message to contact the collections agency to recall that debt and for the billing department to send me a bill.
I informed the collections agency of all of this, and they were actually very professional and understanding. I received a call today from the collections agency that they finally spoke with Gotham’s billing department (they also had difficulty getting in touch with someone), and that individual at Gotham said NOBODY in their office ever said such a thing to me about collections being a mistake. I am absolutely appalled by this statement. Gotham essentially called me a liar.
Wanting all this to be over and to avoid leaving more unanswered messages with Gotham, I paid the bill with the collections agency. I cannot believe the lack of professionalism and disrespect Gotham’s staff has shown towards me.

The two stars is for the doctor who is a gem. Its just two sad that she is associated with unprofessional office workers… if you are looking for excellent doctors you will find them here however its not worth the trauma of dealing with the office. They are totally useless in providing professional service …

Dr. Weisberg is great. Over the past few years I have received excellent care from him and his office. If you need a good gastroenterologist please go see him– I have lots of medical concerns and have so much faith in him that I was compelled to write this positive review. He is well informed and takes the time to explain everything to you.

I am a patient of both Dr. Bonheur and Dr. Weissberg (for hep c) and they are both excellent physicians and think «out of the box». Both physicians are very reassuring and helpful. I have complicated GI issues and have found both of these physicians to be so very compassionate and also the office staff is extremely nice. Dr. Bonheur advised me to see Dr. Weissberg for my hep c and am so very glad I did as later this year I am going to do the new treatment and hopefully be cured and Dr. Bonheur has been very helpful in helping me cope with IBS and has had numerous ideas and she is aware of my other autoimmune issues so understands my situation completely and thus I feel very confident with both of these physicians. Gotham Gastroenterology is the best!

Dr. Weisberg is a DREAM — helpful, incredibly thorough, asks all the right questions and lots of them, gives tons of information, has a nice bedside manner, and (a first in my experience) started a procedure on time! Couldn’t recommend more highly.

AWFUL Customer service. obnoxious receptionists. i was transferred twice to a different practice mid sentence when i was still talking. called back the day after and the woman huffed and puffed under her breath when i asked what days are available for appointment. she started to say «I don’t know what you want me to…»
Then she put me on hold for 10 minutes when I hung up. Awful, obnoxious people!

Excellent service! All the doctors/​staff are very professional. I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Foont and was amazed with her patience and knowledge. As a twenty something in NYC it was so refreshing to see a doctor who truly wanted to get to know me as a human and a patient! I’m so glad I followed previous Unilocal reviews leading me to Gotham Gastroenterology. Thank you!

I have been a patient of Dr. Bonheur for four years. She has treated my gastro problems in a professional and caring manner. She has presided over many procedures and a hospitalization in a dedicated way and putting the patient first. To make sure I was getting the best care she suggested I go for another opinion and this was very reassuring. Dr. Bonheur returns my calls and is assisted in this area with Winston, Fatan, Andrea and Yuki. For example Winston will call back and advise me in the interim so the office staff works together.
I would recommend Dr. Bonheur to my friends and family (and another family member is her patient as well).
Gotham Gastro and Dr. Bonheur is tops on my list.

Really disappointed.
I just got back from this practice and had a bad experience. I was treated so poorly I ended up just walking out. I’ve been feeling quiet sick and had to wait 2+ weeks for an appointment but persevered because of the good Unilocal reviews. Today I was scheduled for a 1:30pm appointment with Dr. Jennifer Bonheur. I work in the area and have recently started a new job so don’t have any vacation time to tack a day off.
Before leaving for my appointment I tried calling their office 3 times — NO-​ONE answered on any of my attempts. I understand that sometimes doctors are running 15 – 20 mins behind schedule so was trying to call ahead to find out how they were running time wise. When I couldn’t get through I went up anyway and arrived for my appointment 10 minutes early. I went up to the 7^th floor and approached the front desk. The receptionist was sitting behind the desk and did not great me or even aknowlege my existence. She then proceeded to have a chat to a woman that was standing on the other side of the desk. They weren’t talking about anything work related, I could hear them just having a general chat. I couldn’t believe how rude she was. She then stood up, walked around the desk and said «I’ll be right back». So far I don’t even know if I’m in the right place. I stood there another minute or two wondering if anyone was going to welcome me. I then turned around to see the same receptionist on the other side of waiting room having a chat to someone else! I had to raise my voice and ask «Can I check in please?». She then scurried over, told me I was in the right place but appointments were running behind 45mins to an hour! I was so upset because I’d waited so long for my appointment and couldn’t spend hours out of the office.
I told the receptionist «I tried calling here 3 times» and she had massive attitude and said «we’ll the phones are crazy» because naturally, I shouldn’t have tried anything so silly as to call them. She then said «so what do you want to do then, you want to reschedule?» I said NO and just walked out. So upset.

Impossible to get an appointment. No one responds to their online forms and their phone number neither has a voicemail or anyone answering their lines. Moreover, these other Unilocal reviews read like sponsored nonsense.

Great practice, friendly staff. Very thankful to have found Dr. Weisberg!

From what I can tell, the entire practice is great. They all get stellar reviews and have impeccable credentials. Notwithstanding the quality of the entire practice, Dr. Foont is a standout. She sits with me and really, truly listens — even to my half-​baked theories about why I’m having certain symptoms and my other non-​GI-​related health issues. She once even dove into the chemistry of a medication to ensure it didn’t react poorly with another medication I was taking — a first for me among all physicians I’ve ever seen. She also responds to phone calls and re-​fill requests promptly. And, for what it’s worth, it is clear that she geniunely cares about the well-​being of myself and her patients. You probably won’t go wrong with anyone at Gotham but you should consider specifically asking for her.

Dr. Jennifer Bonheur will forever be one of the best doctors I have ever met in my life. I am a very needy patient (a year of tummy troubles and doctors will do that to you) and I felt like Dr. B actually cared and wanted to help me and not just give me medication.
She was extremely professional, caring and thorough. She has excellent bedside manner and followed up with me after a procedure.
I hope not to have to visit again, but no doubt she was amazing, I would highly recommend her.

Four starts for Gotham, but five for Dr. Eric Morgenstern.
The facility is clean and the staff is polite; however, they are a bit scattered when it comes to scheduling procedures. They said they’d contact me in case of a cancellation so I could have a more timely appointment, but I had to hound them for a bit until they were able to squeeze me into the schedule.
Dr. Morgenstern is an extremely capable physician, who does not make his patients feel rushed or otherwise insignificant. His bed-​side manner is above par, and he made me feel at ease during a somewhat invasive procedure.
Overall, I highly recommend both the facility and the doctor.

I went to see Dr. Weisburg again recently. I am 49 years old and colon cancer runs on both sides of my family. At age 50 it is a routine examination to have a colonoscopy. I won’t be 50 until next year but had symptoms that would warrant further testing. My primary care doctor says it would not be safe for me to go under right now so Dr. Weisburg did a simple painless easy test requiring no preparation from me. He said the best test for colon cancer is the one you get. Meaning if you can’t get a colonosopy which is the most effective test, you can have another kind of screening and it is better than no screening at all.
He is a great listener and will answer all of your questions. He is kind and attentive and fully present with you, his attention is not divided.

Being an active Unilocaler and food enthusiast does have its health risks. Rich, fatty foods, exotic cocktails, offal, calorie intense desserts and what not may, in high quantities, actually cause problems with that most vital of organs, the stomach.
So I found myself revisiting my arch-​nemesis, acid reflux, recently as a new year of fatigue, intestinal pain and other symptoms struck like the clock hitting 12.
Not content to see the best years of my eating life wither away before my eyes, I made an appointment with Gotham Gastroenterology.
I like doctors’ groups that have a full featured web site where I can learn about the various tests, procedures, disorders and doctors at my disposal. Calling in for an appointment was quite easy as the receptionist was friendly, yes friendly!
My previous experience with gastroenterology offices in Queens was like being part of the A-​Team: I’d always feels accused of a crime I didn’t commit, mainly interrupting the receptionist from whatever vital task they were doing.
Not so with Gotham, as the well spoken receptionist asked the basic questions, what doctor I’d like to see and when. Availability was almost wide open so I chose Dr. Weisberg and an appointment two days down the road. I was also reminded, based on my insurance, to have a referral faxed over.
Come appointment day and thanks to the downright depressing MTA I was about 10 minutes late. No worries, as the staff went over the administrative part of the appointment. There was a minor problem with my referral but that was sorted out. I handed over my new patient form (available for print out online) and only had to wait about 10 minutes for my time with the doctor.
And it truly was time with a doctor, not an assistant, an underling, a nurse, a research intern, etc. Dr. Weisberg was more attentive in thirty minutes than three years worth of visits to other gastroenterologists who’d rush me in like a supermarket check out clerk scanning my stomach.
I cannot stress how refreshing such listening was. He asked questions about my symptoms, my history and formulated a plan of action. Bloodwork was taken, results would be ready in a week and a new prescription sent to my pharmacy ready for me to pick up.
Another plus about visiting this office is that there are several doctors available who can answer your questions. Case in point, my blood results were ready a week later but Dr. Weisberg was on vacation. Instead of having to wait for his return, I left my number and they had another doctor call me shortly later to discuss the results. Doctors in depth, I suppose, instead of being stuck with one and only one go to person.
To my fellow Unilocalers who may find their lust and gluttony impairing their health, schedule a visit to Gotham. Hey, even the name has ‘ham’ in it and soon you’ll hopefully be back on the fat eating track.
