I stumbled upon Christopher about two years ago on the recommendation of a favorite yoga instructor, to help me with a hip flexor that wasn’t seeming to get any better. While I had always been intrigued by acupuncture and had wanted to try it, I would have never done so without a recommendation. Who wants a stranger sticking them with pins?
Christopher was beyond what I expected, and continues to blow my mind (in a good way). After two years, we’ve gotten to a place where I can walk into his office and simply say (on a very bad day) «it’s not good» and he can figure it out. My first experience with him «figuring it out» came on my second visit, when after taking my pulse for about 20 seconds or so, he proclaimed «you’d likely benefit from taking some vitamin d.»
«How can you tell me I’m vitamin d deficient after grabbing my wrist?!» I responded, not necessarily kindly.
«I’m not telling you you’re deficient, I’m just telling you I sense things in your pulses that translate into western medicine as being helped by vitamin D,» he replied.
«No,» I said, «I want to know how you can tell by grabbing my wrists that I have a vitamin d deficiency, when it just took my doctor two weeks and blood work to figure that out.»
It’s been that way more or less since; I think most of us have a tendency to ignore our bodies when it comes to the stresses of life. I’d regularly get pretty heavy cases of seasonal affective disorder (mild depression) in the winter, and what I’ll call «fast digestion» throughout the year, muscle tension (of the variety that started in my shoulders and made my fingers go numb), as well as bouts of general I-​hate-​the-​world bitchiness… all of which were gone or significantly reduced after a week or two. It was amazing, incredible… unbelievably useful.
So give it a try. And if you’re a skeptic «wanna-​know-​why-​it-​works» like I was, he’s always game to explain the theories behind it.

A friend recommended Christopher to me after I relapsed with a back injury and woke up on a Saturday morning barely able to sit up. Thankfully he was able to fit me in shortly after that. It was my first time with acupuncture but he impressed me with his gentleness, genuine concern and obvious expertise — he is very professional from the onset, listens very carefully and immediately picks up on what might be peripheral or underlying issues. No joke but my response was immediate — I was able to comfortably walk in Central Park after my session, and I recovered fully in just a little over a month, making steady progress along with some pretty impressive leaps. (A friend of mine had a similar injury at the same time and just went to physical therapy but was nowhere near recovered during the same time frame, and finally called Christopher for an appointment!) The treatments are truly holistic and involve so much more than straight acupuncture — he also works with essential oils and herbs, massage, stretching, alignment, heat therapy and a host of other effective techniques — and even gave me exercises to do at home and told me what exercise or movements to avoid at the time. We started slowly with the acupuncture and I found that it actually feels good, and he was very conscientious about explaining every step. He is a real find — and a healing artist — and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Christopher Dye provides effective acupuncture to treat a wide variety of symptoms, including chronic pain/​stress, depression, and fertility issues. He’s well-​versed in Chinese medicine but also has a sincere understanding of more conventional Western medicine and is eager to connect the dots between the two sometimes opposing systems. Unlike other doctors I have seen, Christopher is patient, careful, and always eager to discuss the treatment and progress.
Christopher treats the patient for a full hour and doesn’t leave the room for long periods of time. He listens you the patient’s physical reactions and responds accordingly.
Also good to know: he is flexible with fees and is one of the most reasonably-​priced acupuncturists in the area. If your insurance covers treatment, he will work through them as needed to make it affordable.
