Bacchus Wine Made Simple is a family owned, neighborhood wine shop and tasting room specializing in small production wines from around the world. We have some amazing wines as well as a Monthly Wine Club (3 different levels). We also do corporate gifts and wine baskets and we carry many different wine accessories. Come down and take a look!

History

Established in 1997.

The concept of BACCHUS Wine Made Simple was born in 1997 with Brigette and Bill Baker, in Manhattan Beach, California. Instead of categorizing wines by varietal and region, why not simplify the pursuit of good wine for all levels of wine enthusiasts and categorize the wines by style.

In September 2003, Charlie Bean and Ron Miranda, so taken with the store and ready for a new challenge, took over this original concept store. They grew that concept to create a neighborhood wine store like no other.

Years later, in February of 2009, Paddy, Maury, and Barbara Delepine took the reigns of BACCHUS Wine Made Simple, making the store a family owned business. Please come down to this wonderful neighborhood store and check out the great personal customer service and amazing wines!

Came to Bacchus as part of a birthday party with my wife and 4 of our friends. We had called the evening before and they had everything ready for us when we arrived. They even allowed us to bring our own cheese plate. The wine tasting selections that they had were excellent and the staff were wonderful. We had planned on spending only a short time there but had such a great time we extended our stay and ended up late to our dinner reservations. Highly recommended, great staff and wine selection with reasonable prices. A great local MB establishment. 5+ Stars!

Pretty good selection of reasonably priced wines. Buy 6 and you get an additional 10% off. Went shopping for a couple of bottles that were served in local restaurants and really felt stupid for ordering wines that were being charged at 4 to 5 times retail. Although there are limited selections at this store, the 4 bottles that were recommended were excellent choices. Thanks Bacchus…

Super friendly, good wine flights, and decent wine collection for sale. Nice place to hang out, and has a wine club vibe. Flights change all the time, and if you buy wine in house you get free corkage at a bunch of mb restraunts. cant be that

Great go to place for novice wine drinkers to the biggest wino. Very laid back place for a Manhattan beach business. The owners are awesome and friendly and help you pick the right wine for your taste. The prices are reasonable and they have free corkage arrangements with many of the neighboring restaurants.

This place is awesome and I’m not even a wine guy.
Someone brought me here Saturday evening. We did a tasting. We talked to some friendly customers as well as the exceptionally friendly staff. We had an amazing time.
Whether you just enjoy wine a little (like me) or love it, you cannot go wrong making a stop in to this place.

This is by far the best wine tasting that I’ve had in southern California. It is a small shop, ran by purely females with two sisters as owners; it is adjacent to a clothing store with a water bowl for any dogs that walked by. So right away, you know the service would be stupendous.
The wine tasting selection was vast, ranging from regions of Spain to France to California and from varietals of chardonnay to merlot and to malbec. Each wine was unique with complexity. Of course, everyone has their preferences. The tasting experience was ever enriched by Liz, the wine specialist with over thirty years of experience. She was attentive and valued our opinion about each wine that she had poured. At the end of your tasting, she even accommodated us by asking if we wanted to revisit any of the wines. You felt absolutely safe to describe the wine in whatever vernacular that you were comfortable with. With your description, she recommended other bottles for us to purchase. I cannot wait to go home and try them out!

We just hosted a friend’s birthday here on a Sunday. Liz was a pleasure to work with during the week and Shawn on the day of– fantastic! Everyone was so kind, and even helped us manage our party while other guests arrived. Big, big fans, and thank you for making our small party a huge success!

We kind of wandered upon this place and it was fun. The tastings were all pretty good although I kind of felt awkward when the guy just kind of stared at us until we were done with our current glass and gave us another pour immediately. I felt kind of rushed and also wasn’t really able to enjoy much of a conversation with my fiancé. Regardless the flights were reasonably priced ($ 10) and we liked a wine enough to buy one– for about 15 bucks after the 10% tasting discount. They also had a few snacks to eat to cleanse your palette while tasting.
Looking around the store, there were a lot of really cute wine lover gifts and things and the bottles of wine were reasonably priced. Looks like this is a well-​loved place in the neighborhood.

Such a great little store! I love going to Bacchus and am always impressed with their tasting selections. Ive been a few times before and had meant to write a review sooner. The sisters who own the store are so nice and have created such a fun and educational wine shop. It’s so great to pop in and do a tasting or just grab a bottle to take to dinner. The ladies make great suggestions and the prices are excellent. I even decided to join their monthly wine club which I am very excited about. I love, love, love it here and will be a lifelong customer.

«We just came back from a most enjoyable day starting with wine tasting at Bacchus. Lisa helped us navigate through our series of great tasting quality wines. We selected one to purchase, which we enjoyed sans corkage fee at the fantastic Greek/​Italian restaurant across the street from the shop. We look forward to another day trip to Manhattan Beach which will definitely include a visit to our new friends at Bacchus!

The Owner, Paddy, and her staff were incredibly helpful this week in facilitating some last-​minute holiday gift basket orders. Really friendly place with great, reasonably priced wine selections. I’ve done a few tastings and I always buy a bottle or two on sale. They also have an agreement with several restaurants in the area allowing you to bring their wine with no corkage fee (or a very small corkage fee depending on the place). Overall, just a fun, laid back place.

A great wine shop! Have to agree with Heather, that they do know their wines. One nice aspect is, they have a lot of cards with descriptions of the style and tastes of the wine. Great selection, and have a chiller there in case you need to from there to dinner.
They now do have a tasting area (fought for years to get it).
