Place is great! Cool décor with leather banquettes full bar, pretty solid wine list, AND a wood burning fireplace. Food is great, especially for a mountain town full of bars that serve food, good service too, close to everything too

We had a wonderful happy hour experience yesterday evening. The appetizers were fantastic, the drinks were great and the waitress super nice. It’s a small place, feels very cozy and everybody was super friendly.

Going going going gone! The food as always is great. The bruschetta is very good as well as the steaks and seafood.
That being said, the service seems to get worse every year. This has compelled me to leave a review.
Every year my family and I go to mammoth for my wife’s uncle’s birthday. We’ve been going for a couple years and before that, I’ve been going to mammoth since prehistoric times. Always mindful of locals, I am always super courteous as well as respectful as I expect when people visit NEWPORT beach. Tourists can be a bunch of jerks and I am very mindful of that.
Anyhow, I’ve been here many times before, but this time the rudeness has gone to a new level. In fact, it wasn’t that packed, which is a telling sign. There were six of us and we put in our names. The lady was totally rude. We then waited at the bar and was helped by a pleasant waitress. We had some beers and appetizers and we waited. From there, the host came and told us we were ready to be seated. We tried closing out our bill, but to him it wasn’t fast enough. He then came over and said, «I am waiting!» I was shocked and couldn’t believe it. From there we eat and was served by a rude waitress that acted like we were bugging her. Also, she seemed to be on some of Colombian’s finest booger sugar.
The food was good and we left. At 8 pm, we were the last ones left on a Saturday night. I suggest to the owners be thankful for your guests and tell your staff that a customer is the ultimate boss and can fire everyone by choosing to go elsewhere like we will do.

We looked up this place online, and went there specifically because of their happy hour that ended at 630. When we got there, at 545, to our disappointment, they end their happy hour at 6. They then told us we wouldn’t have time to order from the happy hour menu. We showed them that their web site said 630, but they refused to honor it. Others were also upset, having gone there for the same reason. Very bad customer service.

The drinks were a little light on the poor. I initially ordered a vodka soda but it was so watered down the second drink had to be vodka on the rocks … Much better!
During happy hour the appetizers are great prices and the food we ordered tasted good.

Happy hour is cool as is the atmosphere. It is hopping and standing room only. I felt like a shark circling in the waters trying to get a table. The food was relatively good, but the servers were slammed so the service suffered a bit.

Came here last night to watch the superbowl. It was happy hour so great deals on food. Our server was so great! She made her rounds often and made sure all her tables had what they needed. Self serve water and a cheese/​meat platter for everyone. Sweet!
Pulled Pork Slider — really flavorful and moist. They pack it with meat!
Fish Taco — The chipotle sauce on it was good but I think it lacked the mango salsa. Very enjoyable though.
Pretzel & Cheese — You can’t really mess up pretzel and cheese! It was standard.
Burger & Fries — The burger was okay. Not too much flavor but the fries were perfect! Nicely seasoned and crisp.
Escargot — Too heavy on the blue cheese flavor. They should just sprinkle it.
Overall, decent spot to grab some happy hour food because of the great pricing. Not sure what their regular dinner menu looks like though.

I went here on a Monday during an off week for happy hour and it was very crowded, however it did just snow so maybe thats why… whatever the reason the staff was not prepared. Luckily a table became available approximately 7 minutes before happy hour ended. Awsome right? Wrong! The first server that acknowledged us was assisting a table right next to us then turned to us and said Im not your server… your server will be right over. Ok. So about 4 minutes after that our server greeted us and told us she was still née and training. Ok. Next we ordered 3 burgers (only 4 $$ during happy hour) and drinks. When the burgers arrived there were only 2, I told the food runner who was also the on duty floor manager we ordered 3. She said ok I will go check on that. Approximately 3 minutes later our server returned to the table saying she messed up the order and now there out of burgers. Next she suggested the spinach dip, obviously I wanted something more substantial thats why I ordered a burger, she went on to suggest other items on the menu in which all were a higher price and not part of the happy hour. I ended up ordering meatball sliders and there was no offer to discount my order just suggestions for higher priced less filling food. After that the table across from us who I saw ordered with their server after me all got burgers??? not cool to tell your customers that your out of something then serve it to another customer right in front of them. The manager came over to make it right but by then I was passed giving them any more chances. The manager was young and from the way her restaurant runs she does not appear to have enough experience for this place. She offered to comp my food and a couple drinks, when I got my bill I was comped 1 happy hour drink. No food was comped! They probably forgot. Things like this happen when your not focused on what your doing. I will never go back. Food was good and drinks were good but its not worth dealing with an untrained, immature staff.

Slocum’s is still my default go-​to restaurant for a nice dinner when in Mammoth. The ambiance is nice and dim, it seems fancy but without the pretension, and the food is consistently good.
Neither my husband and I had a huge appetite when we arrived for dinner, so we opted to each get a starter and share an entrée. We ordered:
–French onion soup — the broth seemed a little too thin but it still had the robust flavors and tons of gooey Gruyère cheese to make it satisfying
–Spicy shrimp w/​bruschetta — SO GOOD. We always get this and it’s always consistent. Huge shrimp and tons of flavor in the broth for you to dip your bread in
–Culotte steak & shrimp scampi (this was one of the specials of the evening $ 32.95) — steak was cooked to a perfect medium and the shrimp scampi was basically another round of the spicy shrimp appetizer, which was fine with us! Entrée also came with garlic mashed potatoes & vegetables (green beans, carrots, yellow squash)
–Complimentary bread basket w/​butter — excellent bread! Crusty on the outside, warm and soft on the inside
Our server was wonderful, the meal was very satisfying, and we had a nice table right by the fireplace. The only thing I’d change? Don’t bring the baby next time! Although he was well behaved, not every restaurant is a kid friendly environment. A big warning sign is when they don’t offer high chairs (but they do have booster seats).
Everything above plus two glasses of wine — total with tax and 20% tip — $ 90

Good beer. Good grub. Friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere. We came during happy hour and they have some great deals to choose from. Cool little place worth a visit.

I thought it was a really cute place and the bar was packed and full of young life, loud and a great vibe.
I just paid a whole lot of money for dinner and didn’t like my dinner. The prime rib was way too salty for me. Everything else we ordered looked amazing when it came out, but tasted just ok. Overall, a nice place to go to dinner.

GREAT SERVICE. We came in for Happy Hour between the NFL playoff games. They were slammed. And yet we had beer and and their $ 4 burger and fries within 10 minutes. The servers were helping each other out and the manager was bringing the food.

What a horrible experience! Service was extremely BAD and food was stale and causes food poisoning!
Several years ago we used to love this place and always came here for happy hour. So on our most recent trip we decided to visit our old stomping ground and come here for happy hour. It was really difficult to find a table on a Friday night. We stood there in the doorway and waited about 10min before someone left.
We sat down and was completely ignored by the wait staff for a good 15min. Finally this lady showed up and was mean and very abrasive. We have her our drink orders. After 15min, we got 2 drinks but we’re missing the other 2. Waited another 10min, no one came back to take our food order or bring the remaining 2 drinks. Finally she finally shows up and tossed us our remaining drinks. We then asked her to take our food order and she just left. Wth? Finally flagged her down and as we asked her questions about the menu she refuse to answer our questions and told us she’s leaving and we need to have already made our decision about our order. Wow talk about being mean! We had to force her to stay and finish taking our orders.
Food did not come out for a long long time while we were starving. And when they did come out 1 item was wrong and the kitchen had to correct it! I ordered a burger and the bun was hard and stale, patty was dry and hard. It was worse than McD burgers. The pretzel we ordered was super hard and chewy, it most likely came out of a frozen package and popped in the microwave for a few min before presented on the plate. Absolutely uneatable and disgusting! I felt really sick a few hours after this meal. Yuck!
After our food came out, our mean waitress never came back. Totally bad attitude! Never coming back again!

The hostess was really rude. we were a party of 12 and she didn’t want to try to come up with a solution. I get that we are a large party but she could have asked us if we wanted to split up. She obviously didn’t care about losing business!

Stopped by on a busy Saturday night while in town to snowboard with the family. Second time here, very accommodating with a very short wait since it’s a larger restaurant. This place does not disappoint,
Food — great selection, very good table bread.
Service — always great from the hostess, to the bar waiter and the table waitress. Honestly, the mammoth locals are typically not that friendly but this place is top notch. Weird since the towns economy is driven by tourism.
Price — a little in the higher side so maybe for a special occasion, but regardless it’s a must try.
4 stars just because of the higher prices. We will be back.

Great happy hour deals! Brews on tap are usually okay. We Rangers loved coming here during the summer season because we could usually make it up to town from the Postpile before Slocums happy hour ended. Servers were typically pretty nice about us getting our orders in before happy hour ended.
Street tacos are pretty good too!

we arrived at 8.30 VERY tired from the trip and we waited more than 1 hour for 1 Burger and 1 Steak!
The service was unfriendly and the food is expensive for the quality! NEVER!

This was my first visit to Slocums after taking many trips up to Mammoth over the years. I was kind of surprised that it was right next to Rick’s because I always went to Rick’s for bait, but never really noticed this restaurant. Well. I know it’s there now!
On our first day in Mammoth my boyfriend and I wanted to eat somewhere kind of nice. We found this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. Walked in, was greeted by the hostess, and told it would be a little wait for a table in the dining area. She asked if we would like to sit at the bar while we wait and we gladly accepted. Took a seat at a side table and ordered some red wine. After 5 – 10 minutes, the hostess came up to us and let us know that the table she was waiting for had just ordered dessert so it wouldn’t be much longer. After a few more minutes, another woman (maybe the manager?) with a friendly disposition came and escorted us to our table.
We entered the dining area and Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion came to mind. The room was fancifully decorated and dimly lit. You almost forget you were fishing at Lake George just a couple of hours ago!
I ordered the rib eye special they were having that day. It was a rib eye topped with grilled onions and mushrooms and came with garlic mashed potatoes (yum!), zucchini, and sweet carrot slices. Everything was delicious! The meat was cooked just right and the vegetables were tasty. The only thing I didn’t much care for was the slice of blue cheese that was on top of the onions and mushrooms.
Customer service was great and the food hit the spot. Next time I’m in Mammoth, I will definitely come back. Ooh. and during their Happy Hour.
Ooh and I see they have a coupon on their website for one free snack with a purchase of an alcoholic beverage until 9÷30÷14!

Notable local para comer un buen solomillo. Amplia carta de cervezas. Imprescindible en la zona si estas aburrido de hamburguesas y comida basura. Precios justos. Ambiente agradable.

Ambiente noch aus den 80’s, aber gemütlich, sauber und einfach passend zu Mammoth Lakes.
Gute Preise, hatten einen Burger mit Potatos und einen Caesar Salat mit grilled Chicken, dazu ein Bier, gebraut in der Gegend und eine Coke. Alles zusammen hat es 30 € gekostet.
Die Bedienung war sehr zuvorkommend und hat uns wirkich gut beraten.
Würden wieder dahin gehen:-)
