I’ve dealt with them for a number of jobs throughout the years. They’ve always been attentive and knowledgeable. Whether it was carpet for a rental or tile for a bathroom, they have always been there when needed. When you have a local job you should use local people and these guys for the bill perfectly. Anytime there was a issue they demonstrated sufficient flexible to work it out. Thanks guys!

We own a rental property in mammoth and have to do all our work over the phone with local companies. Sometimes we have to suffer through incompetent companies that provide substandard services because they are the only game in town.
This is NOT the case with Mountain Carpet!!!
Their prices, quality, AND SERVICE are on par with any we could get down here in Santa Monica/L.A. area. installation was prompt and done with care. I’m very happy with everything. Thanks!

I have used Mountain Carpets now three times on my condo in Sherwin Villas. I carpeted the upstairs, re-​tiled the downstairs entryway and also have laid down wood flooring in the kitchen/​dining room area. Over the 6 years that I have been doing business with Doug Baysore I have never had anything but quality work, fair pricing and exceptional customer service both from him and Michele in the office.
I read the two negative comments posted here and absolutely do not believe a word of them. Mammoth Lakes is a small town and if you did shoddy work or had a bad attitude towards customers YOU WOULD HAVE NO BUSINESS. Your reputation is what people judge you by in Mammoth and I know many locals that hold Doug in the highest regard, myself included. There are always going to be issues when doing a remodel or a big flooring job but I do not believe for one minute that Doug would ever be anything but a straight shooter and a gentleman.
So Lisa L., and Sherri F., I have to beleive you are the pain in the ass type of customers that ARE NEVER SATISFIED unless you berate a business owner into doing something for free just so you won’t bitch on Unilocal

I had mountain carpet install some carpet for me many years ago and was very impressed with their level of service-​the customer service was amazing, they have a very good selection of flooring and it’s only gotten better over the years. I would say that they have the best showroom in town and the employees were very helpful. I referred many friends and family to them and have heard nothing but good things since. I’ve been in bigger areas and not been as impressed with other companies as I have them.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! We live in Southern California and chose Mountain Carpet Services to replace our carpeting in our Mammoth Lakes condo. Mountain Carpet told us to go to any Home Depot to choose our carpet and then notify them of our selection, which we did, as we were told that they could get anything that Home Depot stocks. Well, they sent their rep to the Carson City Home Depot to verify our selection, but since Mountain Carpet actually cannot get the exact colors, styles and qualities that are branded specifically for Home Depot, they chose something as close as they could find through their vendors… but didn’t tell us that is how they operated. We drove to Mammoth to tear out our carpet and padding as we wanted to thoroughly clean the floors prior to the install, and when the installers showed up, we realized that the olive green carpet that we had selected was now a brown color. The name of the carpet was also not the same, and when we called Mountain Carpet from the parking lot of our condo to express our concerns, we were told that this was the same carpeting that we had selected from Home Depot and that the natural light in the parking lot made it look different than it would once it was installed inside our condo. Well, we were very unhappy with the brown carpeting that they installed, and we called Home Depot in Georgia after the incident, during which time we found out that the carpeting that was installed by Mountain Carpet was NOT the same that we had selected — the thread count, the number of twists, the strand length and, of course, the color were all different. We had paid 75% of the total cost at the time of the install and never heard a word from Mountain Carpet re: the 25% remaining balance until six months later, when they, mailed us a package of paperwork showing that they had allegedly served us with notice to appear in Small Claims Court due to the outstanding balance. First of all, they never called us to collect the balance — we assumed they had written it off due to having installed the wrong carpeting. They lied outright on court paperwork which indicated that we had been served when we had not (one must be served before the claim can be filed). Small Claims court also requires that the plaintiff make three attempts to collect the debt before going to court — we were never contacted. As we were just a few days away from leaving for an extended vacation, we paid the balance since we would not around to appear in court over this matter. The owner of Mountain Carpet, Doug, even called to berate me after the install, stating that I was most certainly a trouble-​maker who does not pay her bills and probably made a habit of skipping out on contractor bills in general. Well, I am an interior designer who pays ALL of her bills — and I have subsequently purchased all carpeting through a carpet store in Bishop as I refuse to do business with Mountain Carpet. As a side note, I hired a Mammoth carpet installer to do some work for me last week, and he indicated that he stopped working for Mountain Carpet due to similar experiences with the owner.
