Roberto’s Mexican Cafe

I was atarving after a day of snowboarding and then spending another hour digging my car out of today’s storm. I went to Grumpy’s first but they were closed on a saturday evening. I tried CJ’s Grill next but after waiting more than 10 minutes and being passed by numerous employees without even being acknowledged my friend and I gave up. So then we tried Roberto’s Café and it was just right. When we walked in there was a large crowd waiting to get a table and I thought to myself 0 for 3 tonight until my buddy spotted the sign that read Open Seating upstairs. I figured what the heck and we went upstairs. A busboy happened to be cleaning up a table big enough for two people and I went for it. The munchie gods smiled down upon us! Then Adriana walked up and this bed time story became the stuff of legends.
She quickly finished cleaning off our table and gave us a couple of menus. Part Superwoman, part waitress, part hospitality guru she juggled several tables including ours without dropping an order. When I ordered an appetizer, salad, and an entrée she warned me of the large portion sizes and she wasn’t kidding!
A ahort while later chips and salsa appeared followed by our drinks. Next, I quickly dispatched the salad which came with black olives and cheese on top. I then inhaled the steak fajitas. When it came time to try the Duck quesadilla, I decided to quit while I was ahead. Tomorrow I will try the Duck quesadilla for breakfast. If the delicious meal I devoured so far has been any indicator, I am in for a real treat. The only thing missing will be Roberto’s attentive staff. Thank you Adriana and all the staff from saving me from a night of unsatisfied expectations and a mundane fast food dinner! I sincerely hope I see you again the next time I return to Mammoth!

Waren zum Mittag hier auf der kleinen Terrasse. Hatten einen Larry’s Salad und eine Chicken Soup. Beides sehr lecker und auch die Burritos am Nachbartisch sahen sehr lecker aus. Personal freundlich und aufmerksam!

Food: was horrible everything tasted like it was prepackaged or frozen. The guacamole was of a soup like texture and the chips & salsa was the only thing on the table that our entire group was able to eat & actually enjoy.
Ambiance: is good I am indifferent about the décor because it’s just a casual place where people seem to enjoy a good drink so in that sense it was comfortable.
Cleanliness: the restaurant was not very clean. Half of our plates were dirty as was the table & chairs. Even the rag an employee used to wipe down the table was brown from filth.
Service: was good our server was incredibly friendly & hospitable. Anytime we needed anything she was always there to help & was very sweet.
Drinks: sub par… I’ve had a better drink had I made it with my eyes shut. Horrible tasting margaritas & for a Mexican place I would expect more.
All in all I would never go back but the employees definitely made it a better experience. We were a table of 8 & none of us enjoyed the food so I would definitely suggest some changes being made as far as food quality & cleanliness.
