If you just want some good Mexican food without emptying your wallet, and don’t need full restaurant service, then this is your place.
It’s a Mexican market serving a simple menu of Mexican food which you order from the markets front register.
I had great tacos. The fish tacos are actually really good with a bit of cabbage and some spicy cream sauce. I also had a chicken and a steak taco which were basically meat on corn tortillas that you can dress with onions, cilantro and salsa at a self serve bar. My son had a burrito just the way he likes it. Where else in mammoth can you feed two people for under $ 15.00 besides one of the fast food joints. This is Way better!
They have an enclosed patio out front to sit and eat. Again, This is Not a restaurant. It is more like a taco stand inside a small Mexican market.

Very good authentic Mexican food! Unbelievably cheap! It really is better than those big and expensive so called Mexican restaurants. Just a few seats outside. It’s better to take out. Servers are very friendly. I will go there every time my family and I come to Mammoth.

This place is honestly so great that I considered writing a bad review so that it wouldnt get too popular.
Closest thing to real mexican food that you can find. Like TJ style, of course with authentic street tacos. I’m not sure why they put lettuce in burritos but a simple request can take care of that for you. Adobada like your tio used to make it, but not on a spit, still tastes right.
Portion sizes are on par with the pricing.
Honestly, no place better in mammoth to come grub and sit on the patio in a very casual environment. Free soda w lunch purchase makes it ideal for after a nice summer hike when you want a sugar rush and some comida delicioso.
Order and pay at front register, take your ticket to the back window and check out the tienda while you wait

Probably BEST Mexican place to eat, although it is also a little market. The food DOES NOT disappoint. Went there for lunch with my family and they all loved it, especially the tortas! As you wait for your food you can shop around for some delicious Mexican candy & churros. So glad we found this place in Mammoth, & it is very affordable. Definitely will be coming back again.

So many good things to say about this place!
$ 2 street tacos! They’re amazing! I love the fish, lengua, carne asada, pork carnitas. The fish tacos have some great chipotle mayo-​esque sauce on them.
Burritos are giant and pretty good if you’re ravenously hungry and don’t mind hot and cold foods intermingling inside of a big ol’ flour tortilla.
Pretty much the same goes for the breakfast burritos, except it’s just hot eggs, potatoes, cheese, and the meat of your choice in there and it is extremely filling. I ordered one once and that was all I ate all day.
My friend likes a lengua torta once in a while too.
Don’t forget the condiments! Beans and grilled onions and hot peppers are available along with all sorts of cilantro, radishes, pickled jalapeños, and green and red salsas!
Dang, this is probably the cheapest and most delicious food available in Mammoth. I’m so excited to have discovered this gem.

So much love for the place. Never disappoints!!! I came here every week, no lie, for 6 months. No frills, delicious, cheap, and fast. $ 2/​taco– if you buy 3 you get a free soda. They take debit! Also as a market, you can also find your Taki’s, Mexican candies, and spices! Yay!
The lengua, carne asada, and chicken are the best meat, adobada is also good, carnitas pretty dry. My usual was 2 lengua, 1 carne asada. Get the red salsa — deep, rich and spicy, the green is too mild (I love spicy). You get a free side of beans — self serve — and you have a big meal for only $ 6.
I had their burrito once and hated it — beans, meat, iceberg lettuce ew, fresh tomato, and nasty fake guacamole, all wrapped up and steaming inside a big tortilla. No thanks, tacos please!

Here is how it works. Walk to the front check out counter and place your order with the only person in the store that speaks English. (This is a great sign). It seems like any of the foods offered come with a free can of soda that you can select from the bin right there. Proceed to the back of the store with your order and wait a few minutes for them to prepare it. While waiting get some salsa from the salsa bar. There are free grilled onions and beans in the heated service trays there as well. Help yourself.
What did I learn today? Had I know about this place earlier I would have eaten here before and after walking to Devil’s Post Pile. A true jem.

My family and I loved this place. Ate there every day we were in Mammoth. Great prices!!! It might be a little confusing when you first walk in… It’s a market and a restaurant. Place your order at the front counter and take your tickets with what you ordered to the back counter. Doesn’t take long to get your food. They have a bar with several items for you to add to your tacos. Highly recommended.

Ironic that the best Mexican food I’ve had in Mammoth (by far) is also the cheapest (by far). Saddened by the corporate-​ization of Gomez’s after its move to the Village, my partner and I set out on a mission to find a Mexican café that captures its former spirit. Looks like we found it!
Other reviews have described the food itself, so I wanted to use this review to address the question of seating.
Yes, this quaint place has seating! There’s an enclosed vestibule with 9 chairs along a bar, and 5 picnic tables with benches outside under 2 large pine trees.
5 stars for excellent street food but with comfy seating!

This place is authentic all the way. They have every kind of meat you want, including lengua, my favorite! I live in Yosemite and am happy to have real Mexican food so close to home.

I had only heard this place existed… glad I finally got to try it! It definitely is more of a market than a restaurant, but it does serve hot & fresh Mexican food.
I snagged a Carne Asada burrito, which is my go-​to for almost every new Mexican food place I try. This one did NOT disappoint! The burrito had the feel of a sit-​down restaurant, just served in a foil & styrofoam container. It was flavorful, well mixed, and had a good mix of veggies in the burrito. The horchata was also some of the best I’ve had.
The location was a little hidden, the store is small & had a weird layout, the front cashier looked like she didn’t want to be there, but I’ll give it good ratings mostly because the food was tasty. The rest of the experience was decidedly «Meh»

This place is pretty good! It’s pretty cheap and good quality Mexican food in the Mammoth area. Definitely stop by. It’s pretty much a small market and also sells food (tacos, burritos, tortas, and quesadillas.) You can choose any kind of meat too!
I got the Chicken burrito and it was sooo good for $ 7. They also have Horchata. They make their food super fast and there’s a nice area you can eat at outside too.

Off the beaten path and located in the Latin market this little kitchen puts out some of the best fish tacos I have ever eaten for 2 bucks a piece. Don’t be fooled by the price thinking the taco will be skimpy! They are full of fish, slaw and spicy sauce! Delish! 5++ stars
We also had the carnitas– 3 stars and asada –4 stars tacos. Great little fixings bar with beans, grilled and raw onions, like, cilantro and a couple of different salsas and sauces.
You can grab a fanta or Mexican coke and sit outside in the mountain air and eat your delicious tacos!
They also have burritos, quesadillas and tostadas– the breakfast option sound good too– will give those a try in the future.
I will definitely be back for the tacos– a ‘must do’ in Mammoth ;5 star flavor for less than five bucks!

Took advice from Unilocal reviews and ate here for dinner last night. The food was excellent and authentic. The fish tacos were amazing and you will not beat the price at $ 2.00 for a fully loaded fish taco with a good amount of fish.
It is a market, so don’t expect a restaurant. The food is fresh and they proved that by butchering a half of cow in the back kitchen that my kids were amazed to witness. Very cool.
Everyone was nice and the market had a great variety of authentic Latin based foods. Will go again for sure.
