Splendid Feast Catering & Events

I am a culinary student, and decided to go through all my networks to find me new leads on catering opportunities which will surely emerge after the winter season, I had decided to pick up the phone and ask a mentor of mine what she could see trending on the horizon. I choose Patrice Ventresca, because she is professional, creative, and knowledgeable. I have worked with her in the past, and I hope to cross paths in the near future.
Yet, there is something amiss,
I did a little research that there is a lot of negative chatter about this entrepreneur, and the way she conducts business. The time I spent working with her at various locations, working various events, I cant say that standards were ever compromised. Flexibility in this business, is everything, cutting corners on a cake is not.

Patrice and her team catered a birthday party for my mother. They were terrific. They worked outdoors in nearly 100 degree heat and were always pleasant and helpful. The entire team did all they could to make sure the party was a success. Patrice’s menu suggestions were terrific and they tasted better than I could have imagined. Clean up was impeccable. Guests were asking for her card. Thanks again for your effort to make the afternoon such a great memory.

At first we thought Splendid Feast was going to be an amazing company to have cater our wedding. Upon meeting with Patrice, and after signing and putting down a very large deposit we started feeling uncomfortable. She was confusing us with other «customers» and we just felt like she wouldn’t be able to deliver. In the contract it stated that we were able to cancel and back out 45 days before the event, well we did just that on day 47… she refuses to give our deposit back until she receives another deposit from another party! WHO DOES THAT? WHAT PROFESSIONAL CATERER DOES THAT? She’s not professional whatsoever. She has currently been served papers and we will see if she appears in court or not. Patrice if you read this, you should know that you broke the law and breached your own contract, don’t you think it’s time to grow up and face the music and handle things responsibly? What you are doing is STEALING! I honestly give no stars.

Splendid Feast catered a party that my wife held at our house for her management team of ~20 from work. Despite the fact that the arrangements and number of guests weren’t finalized until the day before, Patrice and her staff handled everything in stride and the food was wonderful. Several guests asked me to pass along my compliments to the chefs.
Some accommodations had to be made at the last minute, but it was more a matter of Splendid Feast accommodating to our changing needs. Patrice asked all the right questions and had everything set up on her end; we simply didn’t have all the answers for her until the day of. We felt that she was very creative and resourceful in handling the last minute bumps. Moreover, she was very professional under stressful circumstances.
We’ll be calling Splendid Feast again for our next catered event.

This is intended to be an objective review, as no hard feelings exist following delivery of services. However it should be noted that delivery of services was not only below expectations in quality, but less than in contracted scope. The services in question included catering a wedding ceremony and providing table linens. The vendor was two hours late for a meeting at the venue to plan for the reception, and even at that time the vendor did not have a complete record of the details that had been previously provided. The vendor was then one hour and fifteen minutes late to setup the day of the wedding. The ceremony was delayed, as the vendor was late in bringing the linens necessary to prepare the various ceremony and reception tables. Early arriving guests, along with the groom and groomsmen, assisted in the placement of the linens on behalf of the vendor so as to complete preparations (including table centerpieces). The «linens» themselves were unhemmed fabric rolls cut to length. The hole for the linens used on tables with umbrellas were cut with scissors onsite, by the early arriving guests. The tableware provided was not to specification, and is consistent with the themes of poor planning and complete minimalism. The food was not ready in time, even though the wedding pictures following the ceremony (itself delayed) took longer than planned. Food prepared offsite was not properly placed in heated warming trays, and was cold by the time the bride and groom were served. The bride assisted in the placement of the food labels while at the buffet line. The beverage table was rarely attended and was depleted upon arrival of the bride and groom. The vendor’s staff was in street clothes, and while very polite and apologetic, did not appear to be trained professionals (but rather appeared to be personal friends of the business owner). No comments from guests were received on the taste of the food; it is assumed that the consensus is consistent with the thoughts of the bride and groom – the food itself was unimpressive and cold. The venue staff manager stated that this was the worst catering service he had observed in his time at the venue. Please consider these facts before entering into a 50% down agreement with Splendid Feast Catering.

I recently hired Patrice of Splendid Feast to cater an intimated wedding for my sister and it was nothing short of Perfect. The whole experience working with Patrice and the delicious menu exceeded the value and my expectation. Patrice is a chef and artist who put her heart into our event and it showed.
I had three weeks to plan an intimated outdoor wedding on a budget and called several catering companies. Patrice was prompt at returning my phone call and working within my budget and time frame. She had an extensive menu and was flexible in customizing the menu to fit our needs. What sold me was how passionate she talked about the food, the ingredients, and how she envisions the event. It was not only just business but truly loving what she does.
On the day of the wedding, Patrice and her crew had everything setup quickly and made it look beautiful. And the Food, love it!
In the end, all guests were impressed with the wedding. I am grateful for finding Patrice and taking a chance to have her cater the wedding. Patrice and her team help make my sister’s wedding intimate, elegant, tasteful and memorable. Thank You!

I could start with how she set candles such that they would be a fire hazard. I could continue with how she made my friends dig through trash to find her precious sea shells which she put in a container even a moron would assume was a garbage can. I could proceed with describing how she did next to nothing, but I’ll leave it simply at this:
I have never met a caterer who gets drunk* at the event they are «catering.»
*– if not drunk, then severely tipsy.
Edit: nice try, but the comment left by Patrice is wrong. I never worked for her and it’s pathetic she would try. I was an attendee of one of her «events.». Though her remarks do highlight how crazy she is to work with. I only WISH I could write a review that encapsulated how horrible the experience her event was.

I did extensive research before I chose a caterer for my wedding in May 2006, and couldn’t be more pleased with what Splendid Feast produced. I would wholeheartedly recommend Patrice of Splendid Feast for your reception without reservation. First, she’s an artist, and will create a deliciously memorable and ascetically pleasing menu for your wedding feast. Next, there’s her attention to detail. She has a loyal staff and dedicates a lot of energy to making sure the details are well executed. Finally, her pricing is reasonable, especially given the quality and quantity of food and its presentation. Instead of putting reception on our wedding invitation, we put «Wedding Feast to Follow,» and Patrice truly delivered a feast. She even made sure we had a beautifully packed «picnic» of food from our reception that we enjoyed on our wedding night.
I’d like to elaborate on her attention to detail. We had several elements of our wedding that were customized — the menu, the room layout (with rented tables, chiavari chairs, full table top spread, etc.), the ahi tuna grilled onsite, and also our table runners. On the table runners, Patrice found the perfect shade of fushia infused dupiani silk, and Sharon actually made our table runners.
