Los Gatos Theatre

Beware!!! Movie theatre is great but you will get a parking ticket!!! There is only 3 hour parking in LG during day. Until this is changed I will not be attending this theatre for longer movies.

Great theatre! Was a lot of fun, and we were in the upstairs theatre with nice leather recliners!

Los Gatos theatre has a very nice feel because it seems small and cute and non-​commercialized but at the same time very modern and high quality. I had an awesome experience when I watched James Bond Spectre and everything was perfect. They also said that had newly renovated the cinema. So good thing I was there when they already finished :)

This theatre is really great, especially the upstairs lounge!
We have been here several times and each time was a very good experience. The main theatre has over 200+ comfortable seats, but the upstairs lounge theatre is the best place to see a movie. It has reclining leather seats, ottomans, tables, and is very, very comfortable. It is a very small venue with about 30 seats, so get your tickets early (it sells out quickly). Some of the recliners are double seats, for couples, which is very nice when you are watching a movie with your favorite person.
The ticket prices are reasonable and the staff is very friendly.
If you are thinking of an evening showing of a film in the upstairs lounge, I recommend getting to the theatre early, buying your ticket for a show a few hours in the future, then walking about Downtown Los Gatos for a drink and/​or dinner at one of the many establishments a short walk away from the theatre. Then return to the theatre for your show to complete a great evening.

While small, this theater is very clean with a great audio system. The problem is they keep too many lights on during the showings downstairs. There are blue LEDs on the sides of the theater which shine on the screen. This ends up tinting the films blue. They also seem to keep the floor lighting on which keeps the whole room too bright.
This place is still my favorite relative to all the dirty AMC theaters alternatives. If they fix the lighting issues I would gladly give the theater 5 stars.

Awesome little gem of a theater in our town of Los Gatos. Unique architecture, very clean, top tier movies, they refund tickets no questions asked, and bonus luxury suite upstairs which my family and I truly enjoy.

We recently visited the Los Gatos Theater with our children to see the new Star Wars movie. We live locally and are lucky we have such a great movie theater in our town. We purchased our tickets online and got to the theater with plenty of time to spare, we were the third family in the line! The ticket taker checked our tickets and the kids excitedly ran into the theater. It was after several minutes when their excitement died down that we realized by the emptiness of the main theater, we must be in the wrong theater. We checked with the employee at the concession stand and indeed the movie was showing in the small upstairs theater.
We hurried up the stairs and into the correct theater only to realize that there weren’t 4 seats together and we couldn’t sit as a family. My husband was frustrated, especially since we planned ahead and made sure to be early enough to get good seats. He went to talk to the employee at the concession stand to ask why no one who greeted us mentioned the the movie was showing upstairs. He was told that it indicated the theater on the ticket (we missed this as we ordered online and it did not say this on the website when ordering) and there were several other excuses they provided to him. There was never a ‘sorry that this happened sir.’ No acknowledgement of the customer’s feelings. He came back to the theater more frustrated and charged me with getting the snacks. I proceed to the concession stand with my 7 year old in tow, to find the group of employees talking about my husband. Now I was upset as well! I calmly mentioned that no one directed us to the theater. They all just stared at my like a lunatic. I said that it would have been nice to at least have our complaint acknowledged with a simple. ‘Sorry that happened’ and got a blank silent stare from the employee.
We were very disappointed in the customer service at the theater and the lack of professionalism of the employees. We weren’t asking for anything other than a validation that we were heard. The large theater was wide open, lights on. Easy mistake and easy repair. A simple ‘I’m sorry’ would have made our experience much better. We like to support local businesses and wish that our experience had been more pleasant.

Great theater, innovative and modern but classic old timey feel too. — I didn’t see a showing upstairs in the lounge but next time I will. I saw Star Wars here today and here’s the part where the theater loses star #4… This was my second time seeing the movie, so I wasn’t thrown into a homicidal rage by the child who was constantly talking out loud (not using his inside voice much less whispering) if it had been my first time seeing the movie I would have grabbed a light saber off the screen and sliced him in half — much to the joy of the rest of a sold out theater. This kid was literally running around the theater! During a movie! And where were his parents? Chillin! Enjoying the movie. Maybe this is a Los gatos thing? Nobody said anything to the family of this kid. I know what you’re thinking — «How’s my kid going to grow up to be a Fortune 500 CEO if I discipline him or teach him basic rules and respect!?» — I hear ya, LG «parents» — but you’re raising a monster. I wanted to throw popcorn after my repeated shushes were ignored. I shot death glares. I tried using the force to choke him out… Nothing worked. Right when Han Solo was _​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​on the catwalk — this little turd starts kicking the seat a few spot down my row… Like I said, he’s lucky it was my second time seeing the movie or I’d probably be writing this review from a police station. It’s Christmas time though, so I let it slide, only to passive aggressively deduct a star from a review of a movie theater whose only crime was not taking over parenting duties for a couple of feckless a**holes raising the next Big Pharma Boss.
So yeah — Los Gatos theater, turn the floor lights a little lower, less butter on the popcorn, bathrooms are nice and clean — but please consider arming ushers with stun guns and sending them through the room every once in a while.

What an incredible theater! This place I guess just got a facelift? My buddy who I was visiting in town took me and it was sweet. Everything is clean and new and pristine looking. The chairs were super nice and comfortable. The restrooms were very nice as well. Clean and well maintained.
This theater is a 2 screen place and it seems to be doing great business. We had to wait in a line before the movie but that’s not big deal. I was happy to have know to get there a little early. I think we were about 30 minutes ahead of time. I highly recommend seeing your next movie here.
Parking was not too bad. We happened to find a spot on the street just 2 blocks up. Not sure if there are parking garages around or what but my buddy made it sound like we were lucky to have found some spots.

A very fun place that takes you back in time yet offers state of the art technology. Our favorite place to go with the kids during the day hours. The movie selection is small (only two), but that is what makes it kind of neat, in my opinion, because when a movie pops up that your family likes it makes a nice event out of it.

Such a beautiful venue. I adore the upstairs theater with the lush leather seats and the ottomans.
This theater is always clean and I can’t stress that enough. Never have I ever had the icky I’m not sure what is on this chair feeling like in other theaters.
The décor upstairs is this old Hollywood glam very posh with the classic movie stars posters (definitely missing Katharine Hepburn but I’m not judging)
Absolutely perfect for date night most of the recliners are singles but there are a few double love seat type recliners mixed in as well.
Check the online website or call ahead of time to see what movies they are playing since they only have two screens they only play a movie a few nights a week then move on to the next box office hit.

Such a cute theatre! Not your typical busy ass crowded movie joint like AMC/​CENTURY haha…
Came here to watch Jurassic World a few months back… the food is typical movie food, but I like movie food so it was really good to me haha…
The best part about this place is the comfortable, roomy seating… super comfy… and what’s nice is that there are columns of seats that are solely built for just two people, so that’s cool… on top of that, the way they are positioned makes it so that you’re watching the movie at a good angle, not like how you would view it if you were sitting in the center rows…

I LOVE the remodel. It reminds me of something that would be in the great gatsby. So pretty. And this theater has the best popcorn out of all the theaters in the Bay Area. I haven’t gotten to go in the lounge room yet, but from the pics it looks awesome so I hope a movie that I want to see plays in there soon!

This is the only movie theather, that I’ve fell in love so far. Date night with hubby, fun afternoon with any of my kids well spent close by.
Little less hustle, excellent quality. I appreciate that. Upstairs is definitely the place to be. Might be best to buy tickets before hand. Once they were sold out when we went on a last minute decicion with my son.

Decided to go to this theater since it was recently renovated and the timing of the movie (Avengers: AOU) fit in perfectly with our schedule.
Very cute, small theater. Seats were comfy. Popcorn was fresh. Staff was very friendly.
I don’t like to go to the movies much — watching from my sofa is WAY comfier. And I pretty much hate the crowds of theaters. So this was perfect. We saw an afternoon weekday movie so there was 8 other people in there with us (PERFECT!) On the way out, the line was forming for the next and I am glad we missed that!

We finally saw our first movie at the Los Gatos Theatre. The theater had just been renovated when we moved into town. The owners did a great job. It was cool seeing an action movie in a theater opened in 1915 but with state of the art stadium seating, awesome surround sound and a great picture. Cool place.

Since the Archlight in LA, I didn’t think I’d ever enjoy another theater. But LG’s renovated theater is perfectly casual and relaxed while keeping a mature crowd that lets you enjoy the movie. Snacks are the usual fare and the wait never seems longer than 5 minutes.
The best part: in the main theater (1^st floor) there is a whole column of seats just for 2. It’s the perfect spot for couples who don’t wish to sit next to others or kids. I absolutely love it!

I’m reviewing this place after the new renovation has been complete! Watched a movie here with a friend and paid the $ 12 ticket price on a weekday evening to experience the upper level movie theater. Which is as other Unilocalers have noted is very similar to a «home theater»
It’s a cool place, with ottoman foot rests and big reclining seats! I can see the appeal, although I’d have to note that the seats are still a bit close to the screen and after a while you can get uncomfortable of having your feet up on an ottoman during a long movie. Not quite a 5 star experience in my book.

New theater is top notch in every way — clean, comfortable, & classy.
The upstairs is small but very cozy with all leather recliners! And many ottomans. Last week for the movie Whiplash we got stuck in the front row upstairs — no problem, shocker for me to ever sit in the front row of any movie and actually remain comfortable. This place is unique.
The popcorn is served with REAL butter. And the Vegan cookies are the best!

I was excited to check out the LG theater after it’s massive renovation.
The theater is small only two screens but they do have a concession stand — no Icee’s :[ but if you have time stop in Powell’s next door and load up on some great candy.
The theater itself reminds me of someones personal living room which I guess is cool. They have big leather seats that recline and have ottomans to put your feet yup.
Picture quality was good for such a small theater. Nice change from the mainstream movies in the malls and such.
