Wow! So impressed! HIGHLY recommended to anyone looking for a dentist that really cares about his patients, their concerns and wellbeing. I have SEVERE dental anxiety and held off from going but had some concerns, well now I regret not coming into Vision Dental sooner. My first visit was amazing and my dental anxiety is CURED! Thank you Dr. Cheng and staff!

This place is great for kids they know how to work with them I took my two kids here for their check up and they didn’t cry that was my biggest worry they are so professional and very nice I’ll be bringing my kids.

Second time I was here. Dr. Garcia is my doctor. I feel well taken care of. All my questions are answered very thoroughly and I patiently. He is great at explaining dental terms in simple words that I can understand and participate in planning for my treatments. Great doctor, very people-​oriented business (other people working here were great too, including front desk, assistants etc.). Highly highly recommended!

Dr. Cheng is up to date in the dentistry field & provides quality service. His staff is friendly & knowledgeable. The office is clean and always has a great scent from the candles that are lit throughout the day. He provides tea, coffee, & water for his patients. And fun items for his younger patients. Plus, his office sends out reminders for your scheduled appointments which is a tremendous help for me.

AT 69 years old, I have been to many dentists and Dr. Cheng is extraordinary. His excellent and precise examination, patience, time and care is wonderful. His office is the state of the art in dentistry and is very open and refreshing. His staff is receptive and friendly and his hygienist is
careful to not cause discomfort.
I feel absolutely confident that Dr. Cheng offers the best dental care I could find.

Dr. Huyhn is the best Pediatric Dentist in LA! He made my som feel very relaxed and comfortable. Glad I was able to find Vision Dental. You guys rock!

Dr. Cheng is amazing! If you’re interested in the perspective of a young doctor (I’m a general surgery chief resident at UCLA) who admittedly doesn’t know a thing about dentistry other than a patient’s perspective, read on:
I just left my first appointment with him where I got a cleaning, xrays, got a filling, and had some bumpiness in my front teeth rounded out (don’t know the name for this). I’ve been seeing another local dentist who is great but only available to me on my vacations. Let me explain — because of residency my personal life and errands have to play out during evenings or weekends. My planned vacation this week was cancelled (grrrrr) so I had to bail on my appointment with the other guy, and I was recommended to Dr. Cheng by a dentist friend of mine. I called Vision Dental last week and was able to get a 5pm appointment on a Saturday — wow!
Now onto the man. My prior dentists were pretty seasoned — my childhood dentist was my aunt and the last guy (again he was great I just couldn’t make my work life work with his availability). Dr. Cheng is youngish and has a bit of a baby face, BUT — he inspired just as much if not more confidence as the others. He reviewed the xrays himself (was able to tell features of a prior dental implant just from the xray and gave me an idea of its likely shelf life before needing it replaced, something no prior dentist has offered me), did the cleaning himself (haven’t had that for a while), and explained everything he was doing before doing it and reassured me as he was doing it. When his assistant randomly left the room to pick something up, he would explain it. Everything seemed under his control. Having worked in healthcare for a decent little bit now (this is my 9^th year caring for patients), I really appreciated the sense of security it gave me to know that. When he mentioned that he could file down some of my bumpiness on my front teeth, he told me that we didn’t have to do it but «I advise you to let me do it». I loved that. Gentle nudge in the right direction — he knew I needed to be counseled. A touch of old school with new school polish… very nice.
The office setting in west LA is very modern and COOL — I was impressed. I was even more impressed when he checked me out himself (his receptionist had left for the night) without missing a beat.
Overall I’m super impressed and glad my friend recommended Dr. Cheng.

I know how hard it is to find a dentist that is really good and honest. I am even more cautious as I have dental back ground. Dr Cheng is an outstanding dentist with a very light hand and excellent technique. He is honest, ethical and his work is excellent. He has very high standards and will not stop until he has given you the best possible treatment.
He teaches final year UCLA dental students which to me is an indication that he has been recognized in the profession. I highly recommend him.
His office is modern and clean (with big screen TVs in each room). They also have an orthodontist and Pedodontist (Harvard graduate) in the office. You won’t be sorry !

These people made me wait over 2 weeks for an appointment, only to call me a day before my scheduled appt to let me know they actually don’t take my insurance. Super f’ng inefficient on their part! So annoyed because this isn’t just a regular checkup and cleaning I’m going for, actually have a concerning problem. Could have moved on and looked for another and tried to have my problem fixed in the 2 weeks I spent waiting, what a waste of time.

Dr. Cheng is one of the most honest doctors I’ve ever met.

Found Dr. Cheng on Unilocal when I first moved to Santa Monica a couple years ago and needed a root canal. He was fantastic and was very informative and patient throughout the whole procedure and also replaced a loose filling for free while he was digging around. I’ve been going to him ever since!

As a new patient of Dr. Cheng, I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone looking for a new dentist.
As someone who dreads going to the dentist, I was quite skeptical but eventually made an appointment. After avoiding the dentist for 7+ years, my teeth required a deep cleaning. Dr. Cheng was very empathetic and provided me options for my treatment. He suggested splitting up my treatment into multiple visits to accommodate both my comfort level and budget.
More importantly, within a few sessions, Dr. Cheng was able to get me back to into dental shape. I plan to see him every 3 months for regular cleanings as I finally, found a dentist that I don’t mind visiting!
Highly recommend Dr. Cheng for the following reasons:
1) Super attentive and empathetic with his patients. Cares for his patients as if you were part of his immediate family.
a. He always takes the time to explain your x-​rays about current gum/​teeth health to help you make the best choices for teeth.
2) Extremely knowledgeable and proficient with current dental procedures
a. As an active faculty member at the UCLA dental school, Dr. Cheng is extremely well versed in current dental best practices and super proficient as his exams and procedures are painless and unobtrusive.
I believe the only downside is that he’s not within my insurance plan’s network; nonetheless, I am more than happy to pay out of pocket as his patient care is unparalleled.

Let’s just be real. I am a huge scaredy cat and a big baby, especially when it comes to going to the dentist. I always blame it on my childhood dentist, but it’s been over 20 years and I should be over it by now… Yet, I still get anxiety for the entire day leading up to my appointments and hate to admit that I have cancelled a few appointments in the past due to nerves: P
It had been way too long since I had last seen a dentist and my friends recommended Dr. Cheng to me. Of course I was skeptical and was tempted to cancel the entire morning, but I told myself I was a big girl and I had to go see him. For my first visit, Dr. Cheng did a cleaning (and yes, even these simple procedures freak me out!). The only cleanings that I find «bearable» are the ones where they barely scrape a few of my teeth and don’t go anywhere near my gums, which of course aren’t the best cleanings. Dr. Cheng’s cleaning was surprisingly comfortable and yet I could completely feel the difference after the cleaning! Barely any pain but a really great cleaning — that’s a first for me!
After inspecting my teeth, Dr. Cheng also suggested that I replace a few of my silver fillings that I’ve had for about 16 years. What I liked about Dr. Cheng was that he didn’t simply «recommend» for me to replace all of them (which some dentists have suggested), he told me the two specific fillings he was concerned about and why. Sure enough for my second visit when he replaced those two silver fillings, there was a small cavity underneath one and a large cavity underneath the other one! I also have to mention that his fillings feel more like my natural teeth. The fillings I’ve gotten in the past are usually straighter without a lot of the natural grooves/​ridges that teeth have. I’m not sure what Dr. Cheng does, but he made my filings feel like my other teeth that don’t have fillings!
Again during the procedure, I have never felt this comfortable getting cavities filled (well as comfortable as dental work can get). Normally, my jaw hurts from having to open my small mouth for so long and my lips feel like they’re going to split in a hundred places. But Dr. Cheng uses this device (I don’t know the name) that basically kept my mouth open for me — no jaw pain, no torn lips, no straining! He was also so patient with my 20 questions and addressed all of my concerns, even when some of them seemed minute. I am definitely going back to him regularly — he is trustworthy, all about your comfort/​experience, and he genuinely cares!

I was well overdue for a teeth cleaning and went to Dr. Cheng’s practice to finally get it done. Upon walking in, the front desk staff was very welcoming and friendly, and the office atmosphere is clean and comfortable. Really puts you at ease, especially if you’re a little nervous about visiting the dentist!
Dr. Cheng and his staff did an excellent job with my teeth, meticulously inspecting every nook and cranny! It was the most thorough cleaning I’ve ever gotten at the dentist. Afterwards, Dr. Cheng took the time to review my x-​rays and clearly explained what they showed about the condition of my teeth. He even gave me some very helpful recommendations about future dental work that I could have done!
Not only is he really patient and knowledgable, it’s clear that Dr. Cheng is passionate about his work! Don’t hesitate, go see him today!

I have always feared the dentist, as do most. Terrible past experiences led me to put off getting work done for way to long. I reluctantly went in to see William to get some minor work done and a consultation. 5 visits later I look and feel great and have nothing but positive experiences in his care! Very hard to find such a professional with such an understanding and personable attitude. Would give more stars if possible!

Let me start by saying I’m a germaphobe and an ICU nurse, any doctor’s worst nightmare. I’m picky with my doctors. VERY PICKY. I’m also picky with their offices. VERY PICKY. I’m also very anxious and dramatic and am very scared of pain. Before going to Dr. Cheng, the last time I went to the dentist was over two years ago, where that dentist said I had 22 cavities! Scared of the pain that accompanies filling those cavities, combined with a good amount of disbelief that the cavities even existed, I decided to put it off. Afraid that I’d end up with some serious dental procedures, I decided to ask my close friends for referrals. I wanted anti-​anxiety meds and an excellent dentist.
I was referred to Dr. Cheng by one of my close girlfriends who is also a clean freak, a nurse, and who also hated going to the dentist. I went in with the mindset that an anti-​anxiety pill would be the cure all to my problem, even though I had never taken any before. I’d go to the dentist regularly because the pill would take my anxiety away. Weary of the side effects of the medication, Dr. Cheng and I decided that I would go through the cleaning without it and see how I felt afterwards.
The office is small but absolutely gorgeous and clean. It is well maintained and even the toilet paper is Charmin! The staff is very welcoming and pleasant. Dr. Cheng washes his hands right when he enters the room and changes gloves appropriately. His assistants do the same. All the devices he and his assistants touch throughout the visit (light fixtures, instruments, etc) have protective coverings as well. The seat is comfortable and you can watch TV during your visit! :)
Of course I had to be dramatic when I sat in the chair and my whiny voice grew whinier and whinier as I continued to express my concerns. He was so nice about it! He reassured me and told me EVERYTHING he was going to do before he did it. He even stopped and explained why he was doing certain things and even tried to make me laugh. He rubbed a topical anesthetic around my mouth and left it time to «marinate» before proceeding with the cleaning. Surprisingly, this numbed my mouth very effectively. Knowing what to expect helped a lot with my anxiety and he was also very gentle during the cleaning. I went through the cleaning without anti-​anxiety meds and didn’t feel I needed them after all.
Dr. Cheng is highly knowledgeable, professional, honest, and personable. He’s like a cool nerd. He answered all my questions, even the annoying juvenile ones like «how many new cavities do I have? how many cavities do I have total in my whole mouth? can you count them all?» Turns out the other dentist was just trying to make some extra money, as Dr. Cheng only counted 5 cavities (Still A LOT, but way better than 22!)! He performs procedures that are ethical and affordable.
I have been well acquainted with his instrument «Mr.Bumpy» (one of his drills, LOL) as I have had all 5 of my cavities filled with Dr. Cheng. He really makes a terrible experience as pleasant and painless and possible.
I trust this dude so much I even let him do cosmetic dentistry on my teeth. I am the girl at the nail shop who complains about every little detail and the girl who refuses to read magazines when getting her hair done as to keep a close eye on what the hair dresser is doing. I let him do something way more permanent on the part of my body that people see first! He took his time because he’s picky himself and he did such a great job I didn’t even have to tell him to fix any of his work. That’s TRUST. Especially coming from a girly-​girl who is SUPER into her looks! Again, the procedure was affordable and he gave me so many other options as well.
I highly recommend Dr. Cheng because he is just awesome! He also has specialists in his office so you don’t have to go anywhere else for a periodontist or an orthodontist which is so convenient because they all have access to the same records and they can communicate with each other instead of you having to remember everything! :D

I visited Dr. Cheng’s office last Saturday. It was a very pleasant and great experience. He is a great dentist w/​gentle work! I had not received a cleaning for more than 2 years and he did such an amazing job with cleaning my teeth and removing stain. Also, my front teeth were chipped which he restored. It was so well done that cant even tell there is a filling there!
He is very attentive to the patient and I 100% recommend him. You wont go wrong with Dr. Cheng as your dentist :)

I haven’t had the best experiences at the dentist, so I always get nervous when I have to go. My last dentist was rude and rough and never addressed me directly, I always had to go through his dental assistant with any questions (or just talk to his back). Good riddance to him, I’ll never have to go back.
So anywho, I was almost 6 months overdue and was dreading getting another filling, so I decided to have it checked out with Dr. Cheng just in case. He gave me the most thorough teeth cleaning I’ve ever had… my last dentist just kind of poked and scraped randomly at my teeth and that was about it. I felt super clean afterwards! (Okay, I was checking out my teeth in the mirror).
He is knowledgeable and will give you a wealth of information about your teeth, we discussed our future treatment options for my old fillings and root canal, and I know next time I won’t be dreading the dentist so much!
I will be going back for my teeth whitening… I’m sure it’ll be a great experience!

I came here for a teeth cleaning a few weeks ago, but I decided to write this review now because even after a few weeks, my pearly whites still feel sparkly clean.
I’d like to highly recommend Dr. Cheng for his amazing workmanship, crafty skills (my teeth didn’t hurt after the cleaning!), and enthusiasm. I decided to ditch my normal dentist because after my last cleaning, my gums were bleeding profusely and my teeth hurt like crazy for week, plus he was old and boring.
Came to this place, filled out a few forms, got my teeth cleaned. in and out in an hour. yes! Got some xrays, some stubborn plaque removed, and a nice polish to keep these teeth white for the next 6 months.
Can’t ask for much more. Quality work by Dr. Cheng, and he’s also pretty chatty — made me forget i was getting my teeth cleaned. Clean and cool environment, friendly staff, good location.
If you’re looking for a new dentist. well, look no further, pay this man a visit.
