Great food in a nice, cozy local. I had the chicken and waffle sandwich and garlic fries. The service was pleasant and quick. Looking forward to going on Saturdays for their breakfast.

Awesome place. Chicken and waffles are amazing. Stuffs a little pricey but it’s all good. Recommend avocado fries, steak salad and of course the chicken and waffles or go the cheaper route and get the chicken and waffle sandwich.

This place is amazing! Excellent service and the manager is so helpful! Super clean and great menu selections. The Bru’s Banh Mi sandwich is FIRE! Get it with crispy chicken and fried avacados as the side and it will change your life! Love that they also have whole coconuts here that they cut and serve fresh. Chicken and waffles are amazing. They also have ice cream and ice cream sandwiches. This place is a win in my book.

Great food. I always order for pick up at work and it’s always fresh. They also validate which is a big plus!!!

It’s all about the avocado fries. The rest of the food ranges from decent to pretty good, but this is one of the only places to get something like that. The grilled chicken was a pretty sizable portion, and the fruit bowl is high quality. It all stays pretty good when you get it delivered also.

The food is quite good but the attitude of the cashier is unacceptable. Will not come back here just coz of her.

Excellent food and service. They make the best macaroni and cheese. The chicken family dinner is the best bargain in town.

I should say that I am a huge fan of Bru’s Wiffle, but one of the reasons I’m a fan is because of their extensive gluten-free offerings. I mean, come on, gluten-free fried chicken and waffles!!! So when I heard they were opening this place nearby, I got excited. Bru’s Wiffle is always packed, and I’d love to be able to get similar deliciousness at another location. Except I can’t. All the fab gluten-free offerings at Bru’s Wiffle are missing from Bru’s Counter. When I asked about gluten-free options, they suggested the tacos. Dude, I live in Los Angeles. Why would I ever go to Bru’s Counter to get *tacos* when taco perfection is on every corner? I ordered them. They’re fine. Solid C performance. But I won’t be returning. Such a bummer. Until they offer gluten-free chicken or waffles, just not worth the visit.

Good food for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Chicken and waffles, burgers, truffle fries, breakfast eggs, etc. Bru’s is small. You’re liable to miss it as it’s off the smaller Santa Monica Blvd. Not a lot of big tables as well. I loved their chicken and waffles, the Dwight’s special, which came with 4 sauces on the side. I loved their special gravy(one of the 4 sauces)! Did I say I loved their special gravy? It had a hint of curry it in or something, I had to take a togo cup home for my leftovers. The truffle fries were yummy and the mushroom burger was good(yay for avocados in the burger too). The menu is pricey, so be prepared to splurge if you order of a few of their dishes. Find street paid parking or park in the rear.

Good food a little slow on the service. It would be nice if the were a little more flexible if you make a change in the order.

Sooo disappointed!!! First of, I love Bru’s Wiffle and decided to try the Counter. I was so excited but now I regret it :( Before ordering the«Blazing» chicken waffle I asked if it was spicy and I was told no, that it’s a tomato sauce. The waffle arrives I take a bite and OFC, spicy!!! I go back inside to change my order explaining to a waiter that it’s spicy, and I can’t eat it. He says, «No it’s not», twice! We went back and forth, him trying to tell me that Im wrong that it’s the bell peppers in the sauce, whaaat lol!!! Funny thing is my brother ordered the«Blazing» Mac and Cheese Burger and it had the same sauce, spicy. I ended up getting a Mushroom Burger, it was whatever nothing special about it. Oh and we really enjoyed our room temperature fries, thx!!!

By LA standards and in LA terminology, this place is walking distance good but not driving distance good. I’m about a 5 minute walk away from this restaurant and I can’t understand why people wrote reviews about driving 30+ minutes away for Bru’s. Bru’s is definitely solid. I ordered the fried chicken eggs benedict, which was fun but something was lacking in the flavor. The fried chicken was a little dry for my taste. The egg whites seemed a little plain but maybe that was the hollandaise sauce. It was super filling with a mound of country potatoes that I ended up bringing back and frying to make a lot crispier. I probably wouldn’t order it again but it was a great one-time treat! The avocado fries were also yummy enough, but nothing special as well. I may meander back someday when I’m too lazy to drive anywhere better. The menu has a lot more items so who knows? I might come across the menu items the people giving this more than three-stars are ordering.

I love eating salad because of this place! Is that crazy to say!!! It’s the damn truth! I actually crave Bru’s grilled chicken kale salad! That’s bananas! I wish they were located everywhere! It would make my life easier since I’m 1.5 hrs away… so I swing by every chance I get! The salmon here is always fantastic too! Try everything!

I really enjoyed my brunch here. I heard the main Bru’s restaurant nearby gets really packed, so this place is a much better option so we don’t have to wait or get slammed with long lines and inevitable mediocre service due to the excessive diners. We got there at 11:30am on Sunday and there was plentiful street parking out front. Walking in, there were only 2 other groups seated, which is great because it’s not a very big place and resembles a small diner. However, we got there at a good time because it soon filled up around 12 and people were waiting for tables by then. This place is very serve yourself with a counter that you order and they bring the food to your table, like a Carl’s Jr. They also have a serve yourself water fountain. They do have a special brunch menu, I think this place is famous for their burgers and waffles. My friends recommended I try the famous fried chicken and waffles, and I have to admit even though I live close to Roscoe’s and a fan of fried chicken, I’d never tried the fried chicken and waffles thing. So I ordered the Dwight’s Special Ch&W, which I was very happy with. My friends ordered the grilled salmon rice bowl and«golden goat» waffles, which is goat cheese and honey on waffle. The menu itself has a lot of variety and includes salads, sliders, sandwiches, pasta, and wraps. The portions are also pretty big and very satisfying. Would recommend. Service is fast, clean, and food is yummy. Price is a little on the higher end but the quality and portion size make up for it.

A friend who lives really close by suggested this place to grab a quick dinner. She’d been many times and really liked it so I figured it should be good and it was! It’s a cute, cheerful place – not very big but I think most of their business is takeout anyway. They have a good variety of sandwiches, salads, wraps, pizza and pasta – all the most popular items for a quick lunch or dinner. They also have ice cream, shakes, and ice cream sandwiches. I ended up getting the Falafel wrap, garlic fries and a horchata shake(wow). You can tell they use very fresh ingredients – everything was delicious! My friend got their Chopped Kale & Napa Cabbage Salad and an order of the brussels sprouts to share, which were soooo good, if a bit oily. Overall, I was very impressed and look forward to my next visit! STEPHJUDGEMENT: Surprisingly good casual neighborhood eatery with a gourmet touch.

So, apparently we didn’t see the sign that said«Parking in the rear» so we ended up paying for street parking. The good news was that there was plenty of street parking and it wasn’t too expensive. I was craving a sandwich and something somewhat healthy whereas my buddy was going to go all out and get the Chicken and Waffles. His dish was pretty good and came with three types of dipping sauces– ranch, gravy and syrup. I really liked their gravy as it had a tiny kick to it. I got the Bru’s Classic with Fried Chicken and it felt like a very healthy sandwich due to their peanut garlic kale slaw. Otherwise, they don’t specialize in fried chicken as my chicken was dry and the whole sandwich was dry. I actually stole some gravy from my buddy for my sandwich. I think there was something missing in it. However, the brussel sprouts I had were very delicious, albeit drowned in oil. We also shared truffle fries, which were just ok but not that greasy. More of a 3.5 stars place for me, as the food was overpriced and some items were just okay. The portion size was pretty substantial for me and I ended up taking half a sandwich home, but not sure if that’s also because we shared fries.

I want to give this place 3.5 stars. Food was satisfying, but a bit overpriced for what it was. Also, a small cup of black coffee sent my $ 14.95 meal up to almost $ 20.00 without tip. Did I mention it was a small cup of JUST black coffee? Came in and had the breakfast chicken & waffle that had scrambled eggs with bacon and jalapeños mixed in on top. Overall good, but parts of it could be improved. There’s a lot on top of the waffle, so the middle of it is smooshed pretty flat. Also, the chicken itself isn’t as crispy and flavorful as I had hoped. The scrambled eggs on top were good though! My boyfriend had the beef rice bowl that I took a few bites of, which was pretty good. Beef and vegetables were seasoned well.

Description: First time here and tried the breakfast chicken & Belgian waffle($ 14.95). Comes with one good sized Belgian waffle, maple syrup, two pieces of chicken and an egg omelette with really good bacon pieces mixed in it. To wash it all down. I had the mango drink($ 3.50) from the fridge display. Review: Overall the meal was good. I really really enjoyed the egg omelette w/the very tasty bacon(mmmmmm, baaaaaacon!) pieces mixed in as well as the cheese and could just eat that the next time there. The Belgian waffle was freshly made. But was somewhat soggy due to the chicken and omelette being placed on top of the waffle. The waffle itself was very good. But the maple syrup was just mediocre tasting. The chicken was much to be desired as it wasn’t seasoned very well or had much flavor at all. I hope they improve upon the chicken as it’s one of the main items in this meal. Overall, I would go back. But would order the omelette with bacon & cheese mixed in and the Belgian waffle.

Bru’s Counter doesn’t look like much from the outside but go in and the food, drinks, and menu selection are all unreal: it’s your normal sandwich/wrap/salad/burger place kicked up a notch(and with more waffles)! No complaints here. I first heard about it from their other restaurant, Bru’s Wiffle, but decided to try this because, in addition to their Chicken and Waffle Sandwich and amazing brunch options, they also have dinner! I’ve been here a couple of times but I always have to get the crispy chicken because that’s my favorite part of Bru’s Wiffle! The Crispy Grilled Cheese is probably my favorite thing on the menu, with crispy chicken, mozzarella cheese, French fries, and chipotle mayo all pressed into a French baguette. Any place that puts chipotle mayo on basically everything is okay in my book! It’s also delicious on the Bru’s Banh Mi(with crispy chicken, of course) and anything else on the menu. Seriously. I’m a big fan of sides too so I love all their fry options and their Mac and Cheese with a crispy bread crumb topping. YUM! And on top of all that, their portions are HUGE so I can easily eat half of anything I order for dinner, then bring the rest to work for lunch the next day. Another thing I can never pass up is their lemonade and agua fresca. There’s a cold case next to the cash register that has different flavors of lemonade and water and it’s all very refreshing and tasty. I usually go for the Mango Lemonade or Strawberry Lemonade but you really can’t go wrong with any of them! They also have a freezer with their own homemade cookie and brownie ice cream sandwiches – I’m never hungry enough to actually get one but they always look good! FYI, the Unilocal check-in deal works during late lunch/dinner time(3pm-8pm) and you get any burger, fries, and a shake for only $ 15, which is a pretty good deal considering how crazy the burgers are. I went with my roommate and he got the Blazing Mac & Cheese Burger with spicy«blazing sauce» and mac and cheese IN the burger. It looked incredible and he finished it in a matter of minutes while I was still taking pictures of my food(#typical).

I’ve been here twice in the past two days. We had a travel zoo voucher, but it wasn’t good for lunch time; 3−8pm only. Oops. The place was packed for lunch, only a sidewalk table available on Santa Monica Blvd. Metered parking. We tried a few things for lunch. There was a chicken waffle sandwich on display($ 6.95) and who could say no to that. It was filled with chicken and slaw. It was stacked like a reverse taco(round waffle folded in half) so meat on top and slaw on the bottom. The chicken, slaw and waffle were all good. My wife had The Salad, filled with julienne d apples, brussel sprouts and. The avocado fries are a must for any avocado fan. They were cooked well, lightly breaded and served with tangy chipotle mayo. I ordered the jalapeño burger and truffle fries, inspired by Unilocal photos. I ordered it on a seeded baguette but it came on a brioche. The burger is dressed with mushrooms and Swiss, but oddly no jalapenos. The mozzarella is not a great burger cheese. The mushrooms were tasty and numerous. They also have a mushroom burger, but it has the same toppings as the jalapeño, odd. The problem was the meat got lost in all the goo. It was also a small burger portion, leaving mostly bun on the second half. I think they forgot the truffle oil on the fries, sad face. Next night we brought the kids. It was mostly dead at night so I get the TZ promotion hours. We had a bacon & egg burger, chicken salad and flat bread. This time I ordered the burger on a wheat bun, but they were out. Strike two on bread. No problem brioche is the way to go. The bacon was plentiful, the egg over cooked and the burger overall the better of the two. They remembered the truffle this time and the fries are good. The flat bread bbq chicken was delicious and served w/small arugula salad. Bru’s Counter has a lot going for it including a little inconsistency and quirky idiosyncrasies. If they iron that out this could be an easy 5 star.
