Seen this truck various times from heading to a event at staples to watching a movie at Regal. This place has great street tacos, just under $ 1.50 per taco you get a lot of meat. Had me two asada & chorizo tacos, good freaking tacos. Good tasting Horchata as well. Stop in before or after a LA Live visit.

Found these guys outside of Staples Center before a Kings game. Definitely the cheapest meal you can find in the area! We got two bean and cheese burritos and two Diet Cokes for $ 12. I’m guessing the burritos were $ 5, and the Cokes were $ 1. Each person got their own bag of chopped onion, a bag of cilantro(no thank you), and a bag of radishes. The burritos were good. The red sauce was really good. I wouldn’t go out of my way to find them, but I was happy they were there to save us some $$$ on food near Staples Center.

Tacos El Gallito is a magical truck, the kind of food truck you would stumble upon in the woods, eat from, and then be forever trapped in faerie land because of. It’s. Just. That. Good. It’s also dangerously close to my house, and if they took card instead of just cash, I’d probably never cook again. As is, I’m limited to going there when I have money in my pocket. The meats are so good — lengua, cabeza, pollo, carnitas, but most importantly is the suadero. It’s mexican brisket, and if God eats anything, it’s this, all day long. Perfectly moist and fatty, it makes the best torta. Or taco. Or quesadilla. Go order it now. I may have to grab TEG tonight…

So we all know when you’re eating here right. It’s probably 3am. You’ve had a little too much fun tonight already when you think, «you know what I need right now, some tacos.» Apart from the fact that the last thing on earth you NEED at 3am is a whole bunch of tacos, it always sounds like a good idea and you stumble across this place. We weren’t the only ones. A small group seemingly celebrating a birthday party had also gathered and learned a few important lessons. 1) they don’t take checks and 2) you have to pay them before they will make your food. Clearly these people were having a great night also. They have a good selection of salsas out, a half dozen and a similar set of options for mains inside whatever form of tortilla you choose — in theory I had carnitas and pastor, but neither seemed particularly memorable. Or easy to differentiate. I have no idea how much my torta or friend’s quesadilla were, it was a late night. I had visited four other establishments in the same night whose reviews if they ever happen will be just as vague. I will say though, go quesadilla. It was a great call. Of course, anything with that much cheese that close to sunrise is likely a guaranteed win.

Okay food for the price. I recommend their street tacos more than their burritos. Me and a couple friends stumbled upon this taco truck after a night out in the club so let’s just say it hit the spot and not the wallet… I would drop by again if I’m in the area.

Great option after drunken shenanigans in DTLA. Stick with the Asada or Carnitas. They don’t have the spread of condiments and salsas like their other trucks on La Brea and La Cienega.
