MNM Moving & Storage

I hired MNM move in March 2014 and I am writing the review now? Wondering why because I am super busy with 2 kids, lot of work but I cannot forget MNM moving !!
I could give Eli (the owner of the company) negative stars but unfortunately the lowest is 1 star. I am a business owner very busy with my work but I cannot forget Eli as rarely you will bump into such ass##****. Laura the front desk lady gave me a reasonable estimate of 2200 dollars for a move from Los Angeles to Bay Area plus one month of free storage but I ended up paying 3200 dollars (1000 f**in dollars above the written estimate). They will grab you by the nuts once they will get your stuff inside their truck. What will you do once they have your stuff and you are in rush to leave the property as your lease is expiring and new lease holders are coming ??
Now the reason for the extra money — they said packaging materials were not included. They charged me 10 $ per moving blanket, 12 $ per wardrobe boxes (but that was for sale), 3 $ for packing tapes (almost 80 of them were used) plus some 60 $ for each crate (for expensive paintings and TV — but this was mentioned by Laura earlier that crates would be additional — so I don’t blame them), 30 $ for each shrink wrap and 60 $ for bubble plastic etc …
About the delivery now: I scheduled my drop off a week earlier than I paid them as I was nervous keeping my stuff with them for long time. Obviously you cannot expect any refunds from Eli so I never tried… I did receive all my belongings back except my 500 $ corner table was given to me in pieces. When I called Laura — she told me to call the ass**** Eli who always yells at his customers no matter what. He told me — I remember the exact words after a year — What do you expect huh — its just one table .go call the insurance and you will be compensated for 50 cents per cubic ft .this means probably I could have got 4 $ total as compensation (hilarious isn’t it ?)
PLEASE PLEASE BEWARE OF THESE CHEATERS. I will also file a complaint against them in BBB and also try take some legal action. i have their final receipt and their initial written estimate. I don’t want anything from them but at least give them a lesson.

All I have to say about this company is that they are bunch of crooks. If you read all the review on the bad ones they are true. Don’t be fooled by the good reviews.

This place is a total scam, and I would recommend never using them. They bill you before unloading, and add extra time based on an estimate. Then if they complete the move in less time you are told to call the office for a refund, and the office will tell you that you signed the approval, even if you note on it that your move was less time. This is the shadiest company ever, and you should never use them.

Groupon SCAM under SPADE MOVING also
Me and my wife purchased a GROUPON coupon (attached) in the amount of $ 269 that had 4(four) prepaid hours of work from Spade Moving.
They arrived at 8:30 and by appx 12:30 finished loading up a truck. After that I followed them in my car and to my surprise they did not merge to 405 south from 105 freeway and kept on driving on 105 freeway toward downtown Los Angeles. I immediately called the office and the manager Brent said that there no way I could contact the movers at this time. Now according to California Law, moving companies must double driving time, double drive time means you don’t get charged for the time it takes to get to your home from their warehouse, or in other words the drive to our origin. Upon arriving to 358 S. Miraleste drv unit 332, San Pedro CA 90 732, I waited for an HOUR AND A HALF for the moving truck to arrive. This resulted in $ 290 additional charge right there (if they took a shorter route it would be only 30 min drive time, doubled it would be $ 145).
Workers proceeded to unload the truck and before everything was unloaded they called the office for final amount at around 6pm. To my surprise office manager ELI also doubled LOADING time which was NEVER disclosed in the GROUPON or the original contract. Upon my protest they threatened to drive away with our belongings still in the truck to storage company warehouse.
So as you see at this point there was no ability to negotiate or dispute the charge, I signed the slip with intention to dispute the billing thru
totals, we paid $ 269 for Groupon, and $ 1092.75 for move itself which resulted in $ 1361.75 charge for moving a 2 bedroom apartment 30 miles.
Following INTENTIONAL bogus charges were instigated by SPADE MOVING
1. Not Disclosing DOUBLE LOADING TIME which effectively nullified anticipated groupon deal savings and resulted in extra 4 hours @$ 580
2. Intentionally driving longer distance thru 110 Fwy and Downtown Los Angeles that resulted in $ 290 extra charge to my.
In my honest opinion I’m entitled to a credit of $ 580+$ 290=$ 870

When you are stuck with your boxes packed on a Friday afternoon on the 31^st, don’t worry ELI will take advantage of you and even threaten you. He knows your in a bind and will do anything for money.
This experience was so bad that I had to write my first review like this! I even reported them to the BBB. I have never done that.
And do not buy their Groupon either, they will not honor it!
My moving story:
My boyfriend made an appointment 10 days prior to our move date. They have a Groupon available however they would not honor it b/​c we’re moving at the end of the month. WTF? Luckily we didn’t buy the Groupon before calling to check. But Laura said they can then give us a deal for $ 85/​hour for 2 guys. She said if we do the move in 3 hours (groupon was 4hrs @ $ 259) we will be at the price of the Groupon. Red flag right there & they have a Groupon. But we set up a time any way.
The day before the move, Laura calls aorun 12:30pm to confirm our time, 1−4pm on a voicemail (we still have all the voicemails &texts). Then Eli calls around 6pm to «confirm» 8−9am. Eli then says they messed up the scheduling but was still adamant about us moving in the am even though they messed up. We couldn’t b/​c we had to work & but still insisted… he didn’t get it! Eli finally gives in to our original time and says they can do the afternoon BUT only if we use 3 guys. Laura has quoted us for the 3^rd guy via text for $ 15/​hr extra. Eli says it’s $ 20 extra per hour and Laura doesn’t know our prices! Now he’s forcing us to take an extra guy and pay more! Clearly they have communication issues?! Since it’s late and we are moving on a Friday the 31^st we have no choice but to comply but to $ 15/​hr extra and only hope to get done in 3hrs.
The day of the move. Movers show up on time in the time slot we had. Now we have to sign the contract. Apparently now there’s a 4hr minimum and it’s now $ 109/​hr totaling $ 436! This is not what we signed up for & no where near the Groupon price either! After speaking with Eli (more like arguing eventually and Eli threatening us) about the time he finally agreed on 3hrs. So we proceed. We arrive at the new place & movers want a credit card but again now for 4 hours! We talk to Eli AGAIN. Now the movers won’t move until we pay. We are forced to pay $ 436 since our stuff is on the truck BUT now they won’t accept credit or debit b/​c they think we will stop payment! They probably had that happen in the past since I’m sure we are not the first or last.
The move took 4 hours total INCLUDING the 45 minute break where they wouldn’t move anything until we paid in full in cash. So we paid for 4 hours and about 45 minutes they sat around waiting. We could’ve finished in 3 hrs and 15 min. Maybe even less.
The movers were nice but very inexperienced. They didn’t pay attention to Fragile written on the boxes. They put boxes on their sides so it caused them to open and stuff fall out (my bath stuff is all over the place). They also broke our dresser in half!
This company cannot be trusted! They won’t honor their words or service even if it’s in writing (texts) or verbal (voicemails etc). The movers even hunted us down for a tip too!
I recommend ABC Moving company. I used them the last time and all was well and they are less expensive and send good guys.

I used mnm for my move from Compton to palmdale. The 2guys that came were prompt and professional. They worked really really hard. I will definitely use mnm again.

Wow! They didn’t email me any information about an estimate for the move. They didn’t call me to confirm my reservation, so the next day I had to make a decision. I tried calling them, but no answer. So I had to go with another moving company. Someone named Laura insists its MNM Moving’s policy to charge potential customers $ 100 even if they don’t email or call you to confirm. THIS COMPANY IS A THIEF, THEY USED A DIFFERENT NAME TO CHARGE MY CARD. THEY ARE UNTHRUSTWORTHY and DO NOT HIRE THEM.

MNM movers are very professional and patient. They were prompt and provided same day service. I will make sure to utilize their services in the future.

I used MNM and Sales guy Eli said no problem we can do last minute moving. So I went ahead booked my moving for next day. After trying to move on our own we decided to hire some «professionals» for rest of the move.
I left my husband in charged while I went to run errands, to my surprise when I come back the movers managed to rip out a piece of my door frame. That’s not the end of it. They threw my mattress over the stairs and tried to squeeze the remaining part and it tore! $ 2,800 hundred dollar mattress ruined.
When I call to complain the rep «ELI» said that I wasn’t there to over see them that’s why it happens. I didn’t know I had to be present so they wouldn’t ruin and break my things! My husband name was on the contract therefor I don’t see how that would be an excuse!
He was yelling at me because I was upset with all do right! They never offered any solutions other than call my homeowners insurance.
Eli was unprofessional and a complete DB !!!

This is a scam. Do NOT use them. The way they operate is to show up for your move with not enough blankets to properly protect your furniture and then they tell you that you have to PAY for packing materials otherwise they cannot protect your belongings. I used them to move my two bedroom apartment and not only did it take 14 HOURS, but they damaged many things because there we not enough blankets to properly cover the furniture.
I have moved many many times and I have never experienced anything like this. This is not a professional operation. Save yourself the headache, time and money and use a reputable company.

I am floored. I have moved 5 times in the last 7 years and this is the worst moving company I have ever dealt with.
Customer service was very poor. I got sucked into a Groupon deal, and called them. The woman who answered the phone sounded like she just got out of bed. Nevertheless, I already purchased the Groupon deal and proceeded with my reservation. I asked for the earliest reservation, and she said it would be between 8−10am, on Monday, 03/​12/​2012. Great. I received a follow-​up call from a gentleman with a heavy accent. He «confirmed’ the time and surprisingly, it was moved to 12−2pm. I asked what happened to my early AM appointment and he went on and on about their time schedule. I said ok, fine. On the day of the move, the truck came at 3.45 pm. Enough said about that.
The Groupon deal had a maximum of 3 hours ($ 195) and after that, the rate was $ 130/​hour. Yes, pricey, but thinking I had a 42 inch TV, bedroom set (mattress, head board, foot board, bed frame, 2 night stands & dresser) dining table and probably about 20 – 30 small boxes, this would be quick. I’ve done this many times before, with much more stuff and movers would take about 4 hours.
The movers came and we proceeded with paperwork for about 15 minutes. After that, they started moving… SLOW. I’ve seen snails move faster that these guys. Before they came, everything was packed, piled in one corner and ready to go. They were still slow. When the time came to take my bed apart (queen poster bed), one of the movers started to argue with me that they can’t bring it down the staircase. I said that’s impossible, my previous movers moved that bed up the staircase 6 months ago. The mover argued with me «You saw them with your eyes?». Seriously? I was livid. I called the 800 number on the truck, and called their manager. I started to complain about them being late and moving slow, and the manager was just RUDE. He argued back saying, yes we’re late but we called. I said, you gave me an appointment window, not a certain time when you’re going to call to tell me you’ll be here. I told him that his movers were moving slow and i have a handful of stuff and they’ve already take 2.5 hours to load their truck. The bed frame ended up going through a window because they claim they couldn’t get it out. I hung up on the manager because guess what, all he did was argue back at me and defended their work ethic. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHATSOVER.
Before I have heart attack, I want to end this review by saying, SAVE YOURSELF. I ended up spending over $ 500 for a one bedroom move, which is the most i have ever spent moving in 7 years. These guys started at 3.45pm and finished at 8.45pm which was UNHEARD OF for a one bedroom, based on my experience. No, there was no grand piano. No couch. No refrigerator. No washer, nor dryer. Just a few boxes, dining room set, a 46 inch TV and a queen bedroom set. If you already purchased that Groupon deal, well that’s too bad. But I still wouldn’t use them if I were you. A $ 200 loss is better than over $ 500 and a headache.

So, where do i begin? I am still shocked at the poor service, lengthy and slow moving process to just load a 2 bedroom apartment and the terrible customer service that was then provided to us when we questioned how they came up with the additional charges that were outrageous. First off, I have moved a lot. probably have moved 10 times in the past 10 years and have lots of experience with several moving companies and have never encountered something as scandalous as this company. If you are even considering using MNM moving company, save yourself from making a huge mistake. Not only will you be disappointed, you may also be out a lot of money which you will be wrongly charged and then like us may have your entire personal belongings held hostage and then asked for twice the amount the next day to have your items delivered?
I chose this company based off of a Groupon Deal of the Day — the $ 195 Groupon included 3 hours of moving services in a 26 ft truck that includes a 2 Man Crew and taxes, gas and drive time are included. Since we were moving from our 2 bedroom apartment which our belongings were already packed and in storage, we thought the 3 hours would be plenty of time to load up and unload and at the most take maybe 4 hours. Well to our disbelief, the movers began loading at 10am and took until 6pm to finally arrive at our new place and this was even before any unloading had begun so we were already at 5 hours over our 3 hr prepaid time. I would also like to add that we were told by phone the day prior when booking this move, that the movers would arrive at 10am. However, they arrived at 9am and since this was a storage unit, we were not present yet and were told our 3 hr window would begin at 9am which I said absolutely not and made a phone call to Nora who booked the move and who confirmed a 10am start time and she was able to correct this issue so we were not charged until our original booking time. We had 4 4X6 storage units in which 2 of the units were all loaded up within 2 hours. It was at that time that my husband and I had to leave and pick up our 3 daughters from school so we left the 2 guys to finish the other 2 small units in which one of the units we had already removed some big items so it was not full. From noon till 6pm, these 2 guys claimed to take the next 5.5 hours unloading the additional 2 same size units with less items and when calling to check status, they did not answer their phones several times when I called. When they finally arrived at our new place, the head guy said we need to go over payment before proceeding and it was then that he quoted us an additional $ 1300 which I asked him if he was crazy and where did this number come from? He stated that each additional hour over the 3 hours was $ 130 which now that I think about is should have been a quote for a 4 man crew, $ 130 is a ridiculously high price for only 2 men and i may mention these 2 guys were slow and I believe slow on purpose. When I questioned the cost as there were only 5 additional hours at this point which equals $ 650, how was 1300 determined. I never saw a list by list charges nor was i given copies of paperwork I originally signed. I was told that we were being charged for an estimated unloading time of 3 hours which still doesn’t add up to $ 1300 and i told them they can not precharge us for unloading until the unloading was done and the time is then exact as unloading usually takes an hr or less. At this point, the head guy walked out the door and told the 2^nd guy to not unload anything and that they were closing up the truck and leaving with our belongings and keeping them until we pay in cash. I was so upset and my husband called the owner Eli who turned out to be even worse than the movers who work for him. He explained nothing about the additional fees and just demanded payment and then threatened that he would triple the cost of $ 1300 the next day which is 3900. This all happened yesterday and my husband, myself and our 3 kids have no beds to sleep in, a limited supply of clothes and none of our personal belongings and are hopeless at this point but I am fighting this company and I have contacted the police dept who advised me that any reputable moving company would not overcharge their customers nor can they hold your belongings. If there is a dispute in the money owed, they would have to send the disputed amount into collections and release our property which I explained to the owner who hung up on me. Unbelievable.

Customer service poor (from the top): I was not going to write this… but here goes. I move a lot. I decided to use this moving co this time. They were not able to come in under the 4 hour bid. When I questioned Why, they blamed my small packing boxes, some of which had no lids. I did pack bathroom nick nacks like that, but most of my stuff was covered.
Also I questioned the small dollies they brought, bc other movers I had used had large dollies w/​straps. The guys looked at me like I was nuts. I called ELI and complained he basically said I don’t know jack. Anyways look at the pics on their web site, clearly those men are using dollies with straps and are stacking up the boxes. There were other issues but Ill let that shiznit slide. I don’t even think this was the company I called, I just got whammied with them. I feel but, but need to let it go, breathe… LG

Now that I see a number of really bad reviews in September, I feel horrible for not writing about my terrible experience sooner.
I used MNM for my move in June. The move itself went fine. Very quick, no damage.
However, I let myself get suckered. For some reason, I went for their package deal.
The lead mover — can’t remember his name — looked over all of our boxes, furniture, appliances, etc. He then called his office and, speaking loudly enough to ensure I could hear him, told them it would take approx 8hrs. However, they would give us a deal — $ 800. I was surprised he thought it would take that long, but then I started overthinking things: we do have three major appliances (washer, dryer, fridge); we’ve got some stairs; they charge 2x actual traveling time; we have a four hour minimum anyway. Plus, I started worrying that if I didn’t do the package deal now, they would drag their feet and the move would take forever.
So, I agreed to the package. And they finished the move in less than the four hour minimum. I don’t recall the exact rates since it’s been so long, but it would have cost me less than $ 400.
I realize I have to accept much of the blame for allowing myself — normally a very prudent consumer — to be taken to the cleaners. Hell, we even packed up all of our belonging ourselves — they barely had to pack anything at all. And I still agreed to their damn package rate.
Bottom line is this: if you can get a package rate over the phone, then compare rates with other companies, then by all means, do it. But don’t agree to a deal once they are on their property. There’s no way they are going to give you an honest deal. I’m sure the lead mover would catch hell if he underestimated the time for a move.
Again, the actual move was quick and easy. But it feels like a really big scam.

MnM moving was very efficient and has great customer service. I was initially upset since they had charged the incorrect amount on my credit card, however, once I left a message, they fixed it right away and credited my account. There is a minimum of 1 hour drive time and a 3 hour minimum for moving which is the only downside. The movers were actually the best part of MnM where they were professional, fast, and careful with your items.

I truly hate to be sour grapes… frankly that’s not me in the least. However from time to time I come across something that, in my experience, is truly dreadful and MNM Moving and Storage falls into that unfortunate category.
Allegro: called from my cell for a client who in the end found someone cheaper. They had my cell number and, after SIX hang-​up calls later, MNM finally left a message. As I had to move myself due to renovations on my flat, I thought to myself «well, they are persistent, and the follow up is unusual.» My mistake, however I called back.
Intermezzo: Booked them via Eli, goodness knows who he is other than my phantom hang-​up caller, and booked the move. I packed everything myself — only things to move were some pieces of furniture (little) and a mirror. What I did NOT know is that the movers who show up are outsourced through a general «movers» website, so you’re not REALLY getting anyone from MNM, you’re getting whomever is available at the time, good, bad, or indifferent. I got the bad.
Adagio: They showed up on time, one star for that. Truly, truly, truly talked me out of the additional insurance (vs the general insurance of 13 center per pound), minus a star for that. «Waste of money» I was told by the mover guys, «We’ll be really careful» and had the audacity of complimenting me on my taste. Sick.
Finale: An 18^th Century French gilt mirror got the top broken completely off, a one-​of-​a-​kind Danish Modern credenza from 1958 was chipped in two areas, and a piece of junk from the flea market that I oddly love was battered to bits.
Called to complain, was asked to submit pictures, did, no response from the infamous Eli. Eight pieces of furniture, two of which damaged beyond repair, for a price of $ 500 for a move of less than five miles. No response to emails, no response to calls.
There is too much competition and too many legitimate companies that hire their own staff, so be warned. Unless you have items that you care little about do NOT call MNM Moving and Storage.

They don’t tell you about the 4 hour «minimum» till they show up. They don’t call before arriving and the lady I called to setup the appt. screwed up the pickup address twice. The guys were very rude, one even insisted that I give them each a $ 20 tip. I was only moving one couch and a small ikea dresser less that ½ a mile away!
Would never use them again. Terrible in every sense.

I finished college last semester, and just came back from 3 months abroad. It was amazing but i came back to a mess, because my lease was up and i needed to be out in a few days. Plus i was moving back home from berkeley, so it was a long distance move.
I called a handful of companies and none could really do my moves the next day until i called up MNM, they have really great reviews so i wasnt worried. There price was also very competitive, the guys showed up while i was still packing and actually helped me pack my stuff. Greatness, next the movers loaded my stuff and were off. The following day they arrived at my parents house first thing in the morning to drop my stuff off. Excellent service.

This is the second time I’ve used MNM Moving. They’re fantastic, fast, respectful, careful (no broken items).
Will use them again for sure.
