Green Moving

If there were a ½ star option, then I would mark that one – this was this THE WORST moving experience in my life. It started out with the company not showing up on the appointed departure day (their truck broke down – sound familiar?), and no contact from them for 24 hours. When i was contacted, I was told they had another job to do in ABQ and I would have to wait another 24 hours; ultimately under threat they showed up the same day @ 8 pm and we moved until midnight. At the other end, another company had been contracted to bring my stuff (a no name outfit) who brought only ²⁄₃ of my stuff. Thousands of $‘s of expensive shoes missing, an antique filing cabinet gone, the mattress with large holes… the list goes on. When i then tried to make a claim through the outside contracted company, i was told 2 weeks later Green had cancelled their contract and I would have to start over! It has been a nightmare. Contacting a responsible member of that company is impossible!

Last year I moved from a 1 bedroom in Pasadena to a studio about 8 blocks away. I thought Green Moving was OK until I moved again this year with a different mover, ABC Moving Center, and experienced a much cheaper and more painless move.
First, we were quoted by Green Moving for a 3 hour slot and made an appointment for the morning/​afternoon. Around our appointment time we got a call from them saying their truck broke down on the freeway and they would be an hour late. I thought this was just bad luck for them and understood their lateness. We waited for an hour, and they still hadn’t arrived. Finally, after two hours of waiting around in our completely packed up apartment, the movers finally arrived in a UHaul truck.
We knew before they arrived that they charged extra for packing tape and extra boxes, but only once they arrived did we find out about just how much tape they would use! They used extremely liberally – understandably so since they charged over double the price for the same thing at Box City! They said over the phone «wardrobe boxes would be available for use» when we inquired about them, but they didn’t say anything about charging us for the rental. They did. The movers also tried really hard to sell us a ~$ 50 «mattress bag» or some nonsense like that to protect our rather cheap mattress from dirt smudges.
Compared to the movers we hired this year they moved our stuff pretty slowly. The whole move took 4.5 hours – the same time as it took ABC Moving Center to move more stuff, over three addresses instead of two, and over a longer distance.
When our stuff was first unloaded from the UHaul and into our apartment, I didn’t notice any obvious damage to our stuff or furniture, and so I signed their papers. Later though, I found out that there were some rips in our couch and some dents and scratches on the underside of our coffee table, despite the egregious amount of packing tape they used to hold on the packing blankets.
When all was said and done, Green Moving cost $ 500 before tips and took 50% longer than they said it would, and arrived 2 hours late. ABC Moving Center cost $ 380 before tips for a more complicated move with more heavy furniture over a longer distance, and didn’t damage our stuff or tack on misleading charges.

In today’s world, when a business doesn’t have an email address, I am suspicious at best and just plain irked, at worst. Based on the glowing reviews on Unilocal however, I decided anyway to call for an estimate. Not only was my call unanswered, during business hours, but the voicemail connected to an entirely different number for an unidentified user, listed to me by the Sprint PCS Autotone Lady. So I tried again a few times, in case i had misdialed and my recent calls list was just lying to me. Turns out I didn’t misdial. Get with the program people. We’re already irked we have to move. It’s probably best to just make it easy for us to hire you to help us.

I see a lot of positive reviews for this company which really surprises me. I thought I would just add that I never heard back from them. There was no call the next day, or the next week, or ever, to give me any sort of explanation or apology.
I couldn’t find anyone to move me until the next day, which meant that I had to do all the moving and all the cleaning of the old place in one day. The people I did find to help me did a great job, but they only had two guys available that day so I had to be the third mover. I spent 5 hours running from my apt to the truck with boxes, and didn’t get done with all the cleaning and touch-​ups on the old place until midnight. I messed up my back, tore a bunch of muscles, and had to go to work the next day feeling horrible.
So, basically, I don’t see how Green Moving could suck any harder.

My husband and I hired Green Moving for our recent move. He’s already left his review and I need to leave one too, because I was so impressed with this moving company. I am grateful to have found them.
We’ve moved 3 times in the last 5 years, and this is by far the best experience we’ve had with hiring a moving company. Ruben and his crew of two, Christian and Moises, were on time, fast, motivated, thoughtful, and personable. They moved quickly and efficiently, and worked hard to make our move as easy for us as could be. We have a LOT of stuff, moving two businesses as well as our home, and though we were well prepared, there are always so many loose ends to cover in a move. These guys had it covered.
They wrapped and protected all of our furniture, brought wardrobe boxes for us, and got everything in one trip. Though it was a long day for us, we weren’t stressed more by our movers — we realized early on that we could trust these guys to do their job.
I highly recommend Green Moving! Ask for Ruben, Christian, and Moises and you’ll be very happy you did.

I used other reviews on Unilocal to help me find a mover last week. I chose Green Moving because of the mostly good reviews and the price. Other movers also had good reviews, but Green Moving had better prices. I also asked why two reviews said they never even showed up and if they were going to do that to me, and was satisfied with their answer. Well, they did show up, on time, and the review I am leaving now reflects the most awesome move we have ever had.
The foreperson, Ruben, called me when he was ten minutes away to let us know he would be there shortly. That was a good start. When he pulled up, we were introduced to his two helpers, Christian and Moises, both very personable, friendly, and dressed for the job.
We went through the paperwork, which is pretty extensive, but it only takes about ten minutes. While we are doing that, Chris and Moises were unloading the boxes and dolly’s and other tools they use to move.
My wife and I have A LOT OF STUFF! We each have an office and the bedroom and some furniture. I told Green Moving we would need a big truck, at least 20 feet. They showed up with a 24 foot truck and we filled it. Completely full. It took Ruben and crew 3 ½ hours to get all the furniture wrapped and protected, and boxes and stuff out of the house and packed on the truck. In that time, I never saw them stop moving or take anything but a quick water break and quick bathroom breaks. No smoke breaks, no goofing off, no wasting time. They hustled. I appreciate how hard they worked.
It was a short drive from the old house to the new house, which they did in quick time, no stopping.
They hustled right away to unload the truck. Again no breaks and no goofing around. Ruben kept things moving and hustles too. All very friendly and good humored.
At six hours they took a break. Its the law. We ordered food for them and they were very appreciative. They ate, and got back to work and in a half hour were done and we were finishing the paperwork.
Ruben and crew were very professional, nothing was broken or damaged, and we were very, very happy with the entire job.
I don’t know that there is anything really «green» about Green Moving other than the name, but that’s okay. They did let us use wardrobe boxes and not pay for them, so that is green, and they use a lot of reusable furniture pads, and they kept tape to a minimum.
We had a great experience. Ask for Ruben and you will too!

I used Green Moving to move from one one-​bedroom apartment to next. Roy was great, very friendly and easy to communicate with. He made sure to pack things in ways that didn’t hike up the cost, and everything made it over to the new place in great condition. They put the bed, the shelves, etc exactly where I wanted them. I was stressed about the stuff that I hadn’t exactly packed into moving boxes (the vacuum, various smaller boxes, things that I found under the bed after they took it out), and they made sure all those items were accounted for.
Don’t be deterred by the four-​hour minimum. I didn’t think it would possibly take that long (I’ve never really officially moved before), but – especially if you have stairs– you will get your money’s worth!

hired green moving, talked to them over the phone & planned my move. scheduled a day + time, got a day off from work, & they never show up. no call to cancel, nothing. i wish i could put 0 stars because that is what they deserve

Amir and his movers did a simply superb job moving moving me. I had a pretty weird situation (doesnt everyone though) where I had to stop at my storage facility, then at my parents house to pick up a couch and a few chairs then proceed to my new home.
They didnt charge me anything extra for my stops which was nice.
I moved from Pasadena to Santa Monica (yes i know, its like day and night) without a huge headache.
The rate was fair, the movers were fantastic, and nothing was scratched, broken or even nicked.
