The parking here is outrageously expensive. It should be illegal. I sat in the waiting room for about 2 minutes waiting on a friend before having someone who was so sick be walked out from the back and sat next to me. Something about a 102 fever. Then I saw someone throw up in the waiting room. I was done at that point. I just sat outside until my friend was «healed.»

Hi I wanted to share my experience with Cedars Sinai medical center pediatric intensive care unit. I lost my 13 month old due to delay of care and not listening to me regarding my son and symptoms that could have resulted in saving his life. One pediatric doctor was ver condescending when I inform her my son was having trouble breathing and needs to be ventilated. She replied back my son will be fine. Also there was a night nurse make clueless regarding sick children I ask about blood gas ordered Nurse stated he is going to cry. This was terrible and traumatic event my whole family has transferred our care to another faculty. I guess if you not a celebrity you are not important.

Took my friend to the ER around 9pm on a Saturday. We waited for 6 hours in the waiting room. It wasn’t until my friend collapsed in the bathroom at 3 am (the nurses there didn’t even help me pick her up, a sick woman waiting to be seen helped me) that we were finally taken to a room. She lied there for almost 2 hours before someone came to see us. Yep that means from 9pm to 5am my friend sat in a hospital with out any medical attention. Unless you’re dying, wait and go to an urgent care. You won’t get help there.
When the dr and nurse finally arrived they were surprised by how long we had waited and remarked that it was outrageous. The dr and nurse were helpful, cheerful and efficient. It’s too bad their waiting room staff is awful.

My grandpa was treated here for leg thrombus… Nurses were very attending, doctors are professional, but watching the residents (1 – 2 year AKA student doctors) perform certain procedures is scary. It feels like they get their training on test subject patients.

We just had our baby girl here. The hospital is first rate. The nurses and doctors, midwives were very attentive. We were in for 48 hours and it a comfortable experience for me and my wife. Emily, the nurse, was off the charts good. She was so calming and made my wife feel so good taken care of. The food was good as far as hospital food is perceived. Parking sucks though and expect to pay more for parking than to have a child here. Delivery room sizes are amazing.

I had a highrisk pregnancy and stayed at Cedars for 4 weeks in the Maternal Fetal Unit. I had my own big room with nice view and my own fridge. There was a second bed and my boyfriend stayed overnight a lot. I am a vegan and I got a yummy vegan menu every day. Twice a week I got a deluxe dinner which was served with tablecloth etc. I had a maid clean my entire room daily. She was super sweet. They put me on a special doggy visit program and I got dogs visiting me in my room.
The nurses were all super nice and so were the doctors! My favorite nurse was Jeannie and I built a special bond with her.
Once my scheduled C-​Section got closer Jeannie explained the entire process to me and I was able to tour the NICU.
Delivery went well and my son stayed in NICU for 6 days. Everyone was super sweet to us and my baby.
I stayed an entire 5 weeks at Cedars and I am super thankful that my stay was very pleasant. Thank you Cedars!!!

This review will be divided in two parts.
ER Nursing Staff (2 STARS):
On Monday, January 11^th I arrived to the ER about 3:30 a.m. I was admitted two hours later. Like many point out, I was placed in a bed outside the hallways. Definitely, no privacy and nurses are noticebly cold and unprofessionally carry on conversations about their lives while patients are in pain. Did notice others that came after me who were given rooms right away.
I waited another hour inside before I flagged down a nurse. He seemed bothered that I had to resort to this. He finally provided me with pain killer medicine for my severe case of sciatica pain. My pain level was so high that not even the high dosage narcotic pain killer took the pain away.
ER Medical Staff (5 STARS)
Dr. Brian Jeffords was the ER doctor who saw me. He in-​took all my information and decided based on my symptoms that I be admitted to the hospital. I was hospitalized 2 days. Thanks to him, I did get a pain medicine doctor, an MRI and nerve blocking injections. I owe my sanity and quick recovery to this great doctor.
Dr. Brian Jeffords is to be commended for providing an excellent service. He is an asset to Cedars Sinai.

Love the actual medical practice, but the ER is best to be avoided.
Went in last night for some concerning symptoms… sudden partial loss of vision/​visual disturbances in left eye and complete numbness in left arm. Was worried about a possible TIA or stroke, particularly because I’m recovering from surgery. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t throwing a blood clot or something. The furthest I made it was the check in desk. After nearly 2 hours of sitting in the waiting room and NEVER being triaged, my symptoms started to fade and I finally left without a single interaction other than checking in. Figured if it was gonna be a full blown stroke it would have already happened while I sat waiting to be triaged. It is deeply disturbing to me that the Cedars ER can go hours having no idea what my vitals are. How’s my blood pressure? Is my pulse normal, weak, rapid? Do I have a fever? Triage is the very base level of emergency care and it was never performed. This is a serious lapse for an ER. I don’t trust the Cedars ER. It’s obviously understaffed if they can’t even get people into triage.

First let me say, I have to take this time I have here at Cedars-​Sinai medical center and give recognition to all the staff here from EVERY dept. From the bottom to top on the policies here at Cedars-​Sinai Re: patient care safety… This is Day seven for me here at Cedars-​Sinai for this particular admission, and as hard as it was and still is for me to be here, I want to thank YOU ALL for your patience and tolerance with me. CANDY…5^th fl. BSRN, my apologies for being agitated and combative when you were only following proper protocol to ensure my safety and protecting your employer Cedars-​Sinai from future litigation suits. FANTASTIC JOB! You deserve a raise, and to all of you who have cared for me during this stay, I couldn’t have had a better team, from admissions, emergency dept., heart health and sciences, infectious diseases dept., pulmonology, pharmacology dept., etc., you were all so amazing to me, and as always provided me with excellent quality health care, which of course, I except nothing less, and again and again, you continue to deliver! I always have to put emphasis on my personal health care team. Dr. Shaun Daneshrad. Cardiology, Dr. Abraham Ishaaya… Pulmonology. and last but NEVER LEAST.Dr. Vlad. Nusinovich, my primary care physician. whom I just happen to love and adore. Call me Bias, but I have the best medical team EVER… and I couldn’t be more pleased at how they represent Cedars-​Sinai Medical center. the Elite of the Elite!!! In closing. It’s not an easy job to care for the sick and elderly, but kudos to you for making this admission as tolerable as possible as this was my hardest admission to date. THANK YOU Cedars-​Sinai Medical… you’re worthy of all recognitions you’ve received and all yet to follow!!!

Could these people be more unethical with their billing?
I have had 3 medical treatments from Cedars doctors. Each time I paid in full in advance in the doctors’ offices, and all 3 times I was afterward mailed bills by Cedars asking me to pay more. The first 2 times it happened, they apologized and said their bills were «mistakes». That’s a lot of billing mistakes they make! The 3^rd time it happened, they pestered me for about a year trying to get me to pay them more money even though I had already paid in full. They only backed off when I started preparing a lawsuit against them.
I read in the news that Cedars was found in an audit to be making an astronomical amount of billing «mistakes» — much more than other medical facilities — that result in them getting a lot more money from innocent people. I’m now avoiding Cedars doctors because of this.

New management in my department has made a vast improvement. If you have contentment amongst the staff it shows in the service provided. I’m actually on a vacation now. Something that was arduous to get before due to lack of staffing and people calling off because of low morale. The last 6 months plus have been great. Love my job.

Charged nearly $ 500 for pregnancy urine dip and rapid HIV test that were unsolicited for and part of my annual women’s health preventative care visit (insurance co said these weren’t considered preventative care to them, so this is just as much a disgust with United Healthcare as Cedars for charging such an asinine amount).
HIV testing is free in LA and I can piss on a pregnancy test from the $ 1 store, so I don’t know what they’re smoking to come up with such a ridiculous amount. Insurance paid them nearly $ 4200 for a simple women’s health exam and birth control placement. When talking to the Cedar’s account rep she said it’s my responsibility to come in with a PRINTED LIST of what my insurance company will and won’t cover (seriously). I told her that as an ICU nurse myself, I fear the day that she has to come in with A F@^$% LIST of what I can and can’t do to treat her based on her insurance coverage. Shame on you Cedars.
Cedars is just another part of the problem with healthcare; Fear based medicine — where hospitals are trying to squeeze such unjustifiably large profits out of patients and insurance companies are nickel-​and-​diming, dumping more of the added costs onto the insured. Dr Basu is fabulous, but I will never willingly return to these profit mongers.

had a friend bring me to the emergency room in july (5 months ago) because i was stricken with a sudden and severe episode of Vertigo, could not stand up or walk, was vomiting profusely — i thought i was having a stroke and going to die. they really did not do much other than lay me down, give me a vomit bag, and sedate me. They also did a cat scan which didn’t show any abnormalities. the young lady doctor? who attended to me could not have made it more clear that i was not important, and that she could not care less (sorry i was not a celebrity, and that i was in sweats – didn’t have time to get my hair did)… six hours later they decided to release me – still having difficulty walking, and vomiting, they informed me there was a taxi phone in the waiting room so i could call a cab. which i did — wasn’t going to call a friend to pick me up at 4 in the morning, nor was i going to try to walk home dizzy and in the dark. (i have to tell you here that i was not rude or yelling or anything like that — just sick — but they were treating me as though i was some sort of nuisance or threat to them– i really thought i was in the twilight zone, or a bad dream) (there were a few nurses who were attentive and caring — but honestly the doctor who was calling the shots must have been having a bad day — i’m sorry though-​not as bad as mine). and ps; it was not crowded at all, there were pleanty of open spaces in the emergency area, and no wait. after they shoved me out the door i went home and rested. thankfully it was a long weekend so i didnt have to work, and friends went to the grocery store to get me provisions. after three days with minimal activity and movement the symptoms lessened and i was able to resume my life, still having minimal effects from whatever this is/​was. i had decided to forget this little trip to the emergency room, chock it up to experience and just not go to that particular hospital again, if i could avoid it.
a few weeks later the bill arrives over $ 7,000.00, which my insurance covered over $ 6,000.00. that was nice however, it still left me with a chunk to pay. which i have been doing faithfully since then, usually $ 150 a month — times are tight — i have had car repairs, and some major expenses come up, but have been faithful and timely with my payments… now i have less than $ 300 left on the tab, and they have turned me over to a collection agency… thats nice…
obviously this place has become a profit center rather than a sacred place of healing. i will continue to pay the tab at the rate i can afford — which should get you your full amount in only two more months. it would be nice if you showed some of the same patience with me, that i showed with you when you were treating me like dirt.

No questions the only true emergency room in town. You can’t find a better staffed ER with the best doctors in town. If you are a person who coming here for the emergency room or surgery you are in the best hands. The plus about this hospital having the top doctors who have access to the best equipment’s in town.
All around you will a better ER that will treat you. I have nothing but good help from A to Z. If you looking for a hospital or doctors in top your health need no place to look anyplace else.

In short, this is the worst ER experience I have had to date. Without going into detail, my boyfriend was experiencing some pretty severe pain at 1 in the morning and needed to go to the hospital. Because of the time of night it was impossible to go to urgent care, and cedar seemed like the next logical step.
We arrived at 2 in the morning and were not called back until SEVEN. After finally getting back to the room. We waited for another 35 minutes. All the while the girl in the room next to us was continuously moaning, sounded like complete agony. We eventually decided to say screw it, because when we asked the nurse if we were going to be seen any time soon, he replied that he didn’t know exactly when as they were severely backed up.
I never have high expectations for emergency rooms, but considering how poorly my boyfriend felt, 7 and a half hours is just too long.

UPDATE DOWNGRADE:
There’s a male nurse that always feels the need to comment, «Well, since Obamacare, this place has been a zoo.»
Well, that’s code for «Since Obamacare, we have more blacks, Hispanics, and low-​class citizens crawling around in here.» Anyone going to this hospital as long as I have been can see the change in demographics. I don’t think it’s necessary for this nurse to say that EVERY SINGLE TIME to EVERY patient. He said the same thing when I was there a year ago. If nurse David has a problem serving ALL classes of people, then he should find another profession. He also should not be talking about other patients to other patients.
EMERGENCY ROOM WAITING AREA: They are not keeping up with the cleanliness of the hospital waiting area and bathrooms.
YOU GET A ROOM… YOU GET A HALLWAY: I don’t understand how some people get rooms and others are put in narrow hallways along the walls. My client got a curtained room, and there were AT LEAST four other empty rooms available for AT LEAST two hours, so why so many people in the hallways? I am assuming they are reserving rooms for those more seriously ill and/​or for those with «better» insurance.
You may see your doctor ONCE and never again. A nurse will likely be the one to tell you your test results but not offer much in the way of interpretation. They really don’t operate much outside the box. If what’s ailing you can’t be picked up on a CBC blood panel, x-​ray, or CT scan, you will likely leave with no diagnosis, and they will treat you like a hypochondriac. By the way, look for a bill approaching $ 10k just for those services.
PARKING: $ 5 with validation at the registration counter.
Sadly, Cedars is going downhill, but in terms of hospitals in the area, I would not go to any hospital east of there.

L&D:
Just great!!! All of the nurses were fantastic. The only nurse that seemed out of place was Hope. She had a terrible attitude and just was not helpful. All of the other nurses seemed to really enjoy their job (except Hope). My absolute favorite nurse was Cris. She heard my concerns and went above and beyond. Loved her! She even came to check on me after I was transferred out of L&D. Doctors were great as well.
Post-​Delivery:
Also great!!! Nothing but the best service. However I can say that the evening shift tended to be more lively than the day shift. Usually it’s the other way around. 5 stars alone for the warm chocolate-​chip cookie that is served every afternoon.
NICU:
Probably the best service I have ever received in a medical setting. The nurses here take their jobs so seriously and absoulutely love their patients. It’s hard to know in advance if your «wee one» will need extra care, but if so, make sure you’re here!
The Pediatric Doctors tend to be very conservative with care, meaning they take extra precaution and are proactive about treatment.
Not only were the nurses awesome, but so was the Social Worker. She was so helpful with helping out with subsidized parking, paperwork, and other things that a new parent just doesn’t have time to think about.
Summary:
If you’re on the fence about where to deliver, CSMC is an awesome choice. Hey, that’s probably why Kerry Washington and Kim K chose to give birth here too.

Maternity Ward: 5 stars
I gave birth here and was treated amazingly well. Everyone was extremely friendly. The maternity ward personnel were wonderful. My food choices after birth were surprisingly delicious. I love that they bring by fresh baked chocolate chip cookies for us new moms.
I had people coming in and out obsessively to check on me, check my boobs, pat my bottom to check for hemorrhoids, etc. They often left the door open while all this checking was going on. After giving birth, I truly did not care. There is no modesty in giving birth vaginally. For people more modest than me, know that you will have almost zero privacy.
I gave birth in one of the new birthing rooms. It was very lovely with plenty of space. it felt new, clean and comfortable. The food they give you while birthing is a joke. It is broth and ices. I know that is standard, but I was hungry. My hubby snuck me in Subway. The nurse caught me eating it, but I refused to stop. They really cannot tell you not to eat, and my doctor said a sandwich was fine. I had 20+ hours of labor and NEEDED that fuel.
Pediatric Ward: 3 stars
My son, unfortunately, required a more extended hospitalization due to a fear of infection. We were moved to the pediatric ward, and all luxury ceased to exist. I am so grateful that they now allow parents to room in with their children. (That only began months prior to our stay there) I was a hormonal mess, crying and freaking out. I cannot begin to imagine how much WORSE it would have been if we had to leave my son in the hospital and go home. My hubby and I shared a twin size bed and were provided one meal that we split per day.
After 5 days we were released. My son never had an infection. It was a TERRIBLE experience. He was pumped full of antibiotics for no reason, but they don’t take chances with newborns.
We had a few incidences that bring down the ratings. One nurse came in, left, came back, and never resanitized her hands. I was vulnerable and failed to speak out. This plagued me for months afterwards that I said nothing. Another nurse put an alcohol pad on a line to keep it clean, but luckily another nurse said that was unacceptable and changed out the whole line. Both of those incidences scare me when I think about them. Those nurses both failed to follow correct protocol. My son was also being injected with a painful antibiotic. One nurse just quickly plunged it into him, and he was shrieking. Another nurse put it on a slow drip over the course of 10 min, so it would not hurt. The inconsistencies were very bothersome.
Also, when we were first brought down… The nurse on duty was not friendly and they kept forgetting to bring me a breast pump. I complained, and management checked in on me. From then on, we had very helpful nurses.
FYI-​You can REFUSE blood pressure tests, etc… Otherwise, they wake you up EVERY HOUR! I wish I would have known that from the get go.
We had several fantastic nurses in Pediatric. I think we got to choose (requested) who we wanted to watch over us, since we had issues with the first nurse.
Bottom Line: This is a great place to give birth. I don’t know about after that. We had some things go on that were unsettling. Don’t be afraid to voice all your concerns. Being hospitalized SUCKS!

The hospital is beautifully kept, and security is on point here. There are several buildings here: the medical offices in the east and west towers, as well as the surgical floors in the south tower. There are satellite campuses located in surrounding West Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. I mostly went into the west tower and the surgical floors. To access these areas, you need an employee or volunteer badge.
Within the halls of the medical center, there are many places to eat, grab coffee, or shop for miscellaneous items. The plaza floor is the 3^rd floor, and you will find the majority of these services here. The plaza floor also connects all three towers to each other. The rest of the floors contain medical offices or operating rooms. There is security everywhere, so no shady business is tolerated here.
Parking can be a bit pricey without validation or without an employee badge. I usually parked in lot 4, which is off 3^rd street. There are plenty of other parking structures here, so finding a spot is not an issue. If you’re going to the Beverly Center as well, then I recommend you park there. The parking is cheaper, and it is just across the street from Cedars Sinai.

I volunteer here so of course I’m a fan of this facility. I play prelude music in the North Tower of the plaza level. I’ve never been a patient here myself but I’ve had friends receive care here and visited off and on.
From what I observe and have seen this medical center is managed well. Their cardiology dept is rated as one of the top in the nation for heart transplants. They provide so many great services not only for the patients but for the employees that work here (free flu shots, benefits and what not). They encourage continuing education programs, bring in new studies, research and always look how to expand more efficiently.
Through my time and experience here I’ve only heard great things from satisfied customers. The only draw back I would express is parking and traffic is Terrible!
