Catch Matchmaking was founded by the Los Angeles Matchmaker team who were two busy professionals looking for love in the corporate world. Los Angeles matchmakers Katie and May understand first hand how frustrating online dating and dating agencies can be and founded their mission statement through their own experiences. The Los Angeles matchmaker team’s motivation was to provide World Class Customer Service in the dating industry. The founders based the business model on provided very personalized service and taking ownership in the introductions they made. Their success is above industry standards and thrives on client referrals. Catch Matchmaking minimal advertising and majority of their business is obtained through word of mouth. A self-​professed romantic, May loves bringing people together by making introductions that often lead to long-​term relationships. She graduated with a BA in Communication and Sociology from the University of California at Santa Barbara, followed by 11 years working in the corporate world for a Fortune 500 company in LA. As a graduate of the Matchmaking Institute in NY and working with three matchmakers and mentors, May’s gained the knowledge and experience to help singles navigate the LA dating world.

As a successful, busy professional in upper management, May saw first-​hand how difficult it was to meet quality singles. She knew there had to be an easier way to meet active, fit, successful people like herself who were ready to be in a committed relationship. I met with Katie after doing some research. I first filled out there online form and within 2 days they message me back to set up a in person meeting. Overall my experience with Katie was great, she was very professional and easy to talk to. They will want to get to know about you and what your looking for, then will give you the full, no misleading answers about the company and the best available option for you. They have to be selective because they are professional and don’t just take anyone as clients. If you are looking for a good matchmaking company and they fit your preference, I would recommend checking them out and meet them in person to get a idea if they are right for you.

Catch Matchmaking hosts many speed dating and singles events, that I have had the pleasure of attending over the past several years. They are very organized and provide opportunities to meet singles in many, different age ranges. May and Katie are very personable and approachable, and I have been able to reach May via email easily. She has been very kind, when I was unable to attend an event. I have been able to meet several interesting men, though, they haven’t reached any kind of commitment level. Yet, you never know. It only takes one! I want to thank May and Katie for planning these events and giving us a chance to meet new singles. I’d love to see them expand into the San Fernando Valley also, closer to where I live.

I absolutely love Catch’s approach to dating! Their personalized service is exactly what’s needed in a new world of dating apps and, what I perceive, as a lack of accountability. May and Katie recruit and vet matches and take all the stress away from dating! Their no nonsense attitude is what ensures that the matches a client meets will be of caliber and (more importantly) relationship minded!

I absolutely loved Catch Matchmaking! I met both Katie and May
personally, but communicated mainly with May. I don’t like mixers or
speed dating, and prefer being matched with somebody for a
date. May did a great job setting me up with an awesome guy on my
second date! We’ve been going strong for a few months now. Before
meeting May, my first dates rarely turned into second ones, let alone
a relationship. So I am pretty happy, and call it a success story! :)
I appreciated that May listened to my feedback after the dates, and
gave me great advice throughout the process.

This was my first speed dating event. It felt a little hectic at first, until i got used to the pace. Met a lot of interesting women. Actually met two from the later group that i really liked a lot. Very glad that i went and meet much higher quality women than online. I’ll see what happens now.

If I could give them a zero star rating I would. I was contacted by them to fill out a profile for their foreign client. After I did so, I asked for a copy of my profile. However, I was not allowed to see it. They said it was their file now. So later I was fixed on a date and asked the date to send me a copy of my profile and it was rewritten with false statements like I would not mind having more kids when from beginning I informed them I do not want to have children. So, I asked them how do I get access to the profile to redo. I have tried three times now and they will not respond to any of my requests! !! Horrible unprofessionalism!

Pros: Free for girls, consultants are nice, the guys are screened
Cons: I didn’t feel like Catch was MY advocate too. I understand that the men are paying and they are clients, however I expect to still be treated with the same respect and confidentiality. There was an incident where I told/​asked them something in confidence regarding mis-​fact about a guy’s martial status on the profile they sent me. Instead of investigating discretely and protecting my anonymity, they immediately called the guy, and told him I had said something. This put me in awkward position because then he called me.

What a trip! This was my first experience with speed dating… and although I think there should have been a a few less people and a more even time frame for each encounter, it was quite stimulating… from a sociological perspective alone, (what I have a degree in) it was very informative… and fun, and maybe I’ll even find my «Gomez Addams» I plan on doing it again!

I’m just going to review some of their speed dating and social events, since I haven’t really signed up for the matchmaking service. Their events are quite well organized and reasonably priced, also the venues are really nice and classy. And there always seem to be a good mix of people and well balanced in terms of male/​female.
I do notice that they seem to cater more to white men interested in dating asian women and vice versa, but that just seems more to do with the current market demand in LA than anything under their control… hey it’s a business, right?
Also want to say that May is a very nice and polite lady when I met her. Also I like the fact that she is straightforward and honest… no BS… ie she’s not going to tell you that she can hook you up with hot girls 10 years younger etc… she’ll tell you exactly what you can realistically expect.
Oh and BTW to the guy who posted the review whining that only guys pay and girls don’t…dude I don’t know what universe you live in but this is LA and it’s always been like this… unless you drive a Ferrari or you’re a movie star… and if you are why the hell do you need to sign up for a matchmaker anyway? LOL.

To update, I just want to thank May for not only calling me, but going out of her way to take my new photos, do a search for me, and find a match. She did find a great potential match, 3 yrs older, similar interests, lives nearby, but unfortunately he declined to meet. I appreciate her trying and going out of her way to help. That was very nice.

It’s a paradox. We are very numerous in LA area however many singles cannot find their soulmate. «It’s so hard to meet someone» I have heard so many times! So Catch Matchmaking is an extremely needed business and I want to say thank you very much for doing what you do.
If you want to find someone, Catch Matchmaking is the solution. Forget doing the online dating spending so many hours and hours of your life trying to find a man that is mediocre or lies about their attributes!!! You know this online dating where men say they are 6-​foot tall and you meet them only to find out they are 5“3″? I have been there!
With Catch Matchmaking, it won’t happen because you will meet the men! Where do you get the opportunity to meet 10 to 25 men in one night? It’s worth the cost! Catch Matchmaking is the perfect solution for singles. I understand it can be intimidating to go out and meet a stranger. They made me feel very comfortable.
Just make yourself looking nice and go out!!! If you are really shy, you may want to sip ½ glass of wine while you talk! Why not? Not too much wine though!!!
The men: I found that overall the quality of men was pretty good.
The venue was nice too! Please do this more often!

It’s been quite a while since I met with May and had my experience with Catch Matchmaking. When I first found the website and spoke to May on the phone, I was very hopeful. I’d been single for quite some time and was in my forties so I was looking for some way to meet men without having to hang out at bars. When I met with May she asked, as I would imagine most matchmaking services do, what I was looking for. I thought our meeting went well and she understood who I was and what I was looking for.
After our meeting she sent me ONE profile. The man she sent me was 7 years older than me and he looked it. Even though his «profile» said he liked outdoor activities like hiking and biking, he looked very out of shape to me. He had grown children and was not interested in having children. He was a smoker. Aside from we both grew up in Southern California and liked concerts, I didn’t see that we had much in common. I responded to May and let her know I was not interested in him. Thinking this was the first profile, I assumed she would send more … wrong! I even emailed her several times after that initial profile and asked when I could expect more profiles and while she responded she never sent me anymore profiles.
At our meeting, May had told me about their mixers and I did attend some but honestly I had gone to the same things with Meet Up groups and other singles groups — the types of things I was trying to avoid. I was hoping to be «matched» by this matchmaking company but that did not happen. I was extremely disappointed and would never recommend Catch Matchmaking to anyone.
As a side note at the end of our initial (and only) meeting, I told May that I had several friends close to my age (most younger) who were in the same position as me and I told her I would refer them to her. She asked, in a discreet way, were they overweight. She did not use those words but I knew what she meant. While I understand men are visual you can’t rule people out.

The great luck meeting someone dating for a long time like some other people writing reviews has not happened to me yet, but I liked this idea about matchmaker more active and someone put effort for it unlikely other online dating site.
I met a couple of guys by choice of this professional company and it was very detail about the profile, meeting places, etc. and even following up after the meeting tells how much they care about all individual meetings from before the meeting to after.
Also, it was first experience to do speed dating here, and it was a new but good way to meet multiple people in one place and talk to them one by one. Honestly before I decided to write my review, I read some other reviews and saw they complained about lots of things (example — the speeding meeting was delayed 30 minutes, etc). and I understand that, but I also noticed the schedules were changed unexpectedly by some participants as well. So I understand it is not the organizers’ faults all the time.
I hope lots of singles meet and have happy relationship through this company, and I appreciate May, Katie, Karli. and all other organizers :-)

My bf and I met at the speed dating event that you organized in September in BH. The event was very well organized at a great location with easy parking and happy hour drink pricing. Can you beat that? I was greeted at the entrance and the girls explained the easy to follow directions. After the event we had time to mingle with all the attendees.
You never know who you meet and where, so go to everything! I would recommend Catch Matchmaking services to all.

Catch has the best events that I have seen in the LA area, with higher quality people. Being a busy professional new to the area, and not a big party person, I found their variety of speed dating to be most interesting, where I have had good conversations, and starting to believe that maybe I can find someone compatible in this mess of freeways.
These 2 women are smart, organized, and innovative, and even helped brush up my fashion sense. Yes, it is a business, but they are experts and they give you value for your time and money.

WONDERFUL EVENT!
A friend and I attended a Catch mixer in July of 2012.
We had a BLAST! It was so well organized and the coordinators were not only friendly but provided such a great relaxed environment for those of us that had attended such a function for the first time.
The games set up for the event were not only fun, but allowed us to interact with the opposite sex in a very no-​pressure, non-​intimidating manner.
Super great time!!!
The $ 35 we paid each, were well worth it.
I met my boyfriend of 2 years at this event.
I would definitely recommend to anyone to try out one of the events they offer and I myself would attend another event in the future.
Overall, CATCH MATCHMAKING is a great way to meet new people.

I know that they mean well but there have been times when I’ve heard that they can be too abrasive or pushy and that they don’t really listen to the customer’s needs. I personally have tried to give Catch Matchmaking a chance and I can at least say that I gave them a try.
I hope that they will have a new company culture and try to listen, really listen, to the customers more; male or female.

I attended one of their speed dating events a while back and my experience was quite enjoyable.
Although there was possibly too many people to efficiently meet in the short periods of time we had I did find the people who were there were quite pleasant and everybody seem to have the same outcome in mind.
During the time of service that I have recommended their service to several friends and I believe each of them had a similar enjoyable experience.
