Sorry to see them closed and replaced by a sub shop. The older guy at the counter of this new sub sandwich place didn’t seem that friendly.

Okay Brownstone Pizzeria, you can open back up now. Never tried the place; I just don’t think closing was the solution. Hire more staff! Come back. It’ll work this time.

Sad to hear Brownstone is closed. Loved their meatball pizza and Caesar salad. Wishing you all the best!

I love the pizza but it took over an hour and a half to get a pizza delivered. I noticed there are several other bad reviews. Not sure what is going on or why they can’t seem to run the business better at the moment but I really do hope they get it together.

What happened? We hadn’t been in since Colorado Wine Co. moved away and tonight I realized why… apparently it is under construction, CASHONLY and a mess greets you instead of that wonderful pizza scent… new booths, but the path to the bathroom is cluttered with tables full of crap including what I think were cans of Raid… though I didn’t get a close up to verify that. We sat down and got very little attention from the girl on the phone at the counter… we thought things just didn’t look right, so we left. Sad. We really liked this place.

Wow. What a difference terrible customer service can make. Spent $ 40 tonight to get the wrong order and they could have cared less. The girl who was helping me sounded half asleep and far from interested in the missing food(which was one person’s whole meal). Further, her offer as compensation for the problem was less than the cost of the food that was missing but that we still paid for. This fact seemed to completely sail over her head — she did not seem to understand that since I paid for something and did not get it, the value of the screw up is someone more than the cost of the missing item, and definitely not less(as offered). As you might notice, this is an update to a very positive review. As others have recently stated, it does seem they care very little lately about the customers experience. Really too bad. Even more upsetting is that the food was really less than it used to be. This was my go-to for pizza. No more.

It’s been over three weeks and they still claim their credit card machine is ‘down’. If you don’t want to accept credit cards, just say so. Don’t wait until I’ve already ordered and then spring it on me. Get it together, you should be embarrassed. UPDATE! Now their phone number is «not a working number». Fail. Good Riddance.

Love love love this place! The place itself has this great feel and energy to it. It’s clean and practical. The service and the food is great! They have a great variety of pizzas and other dishes and beverages as well. The slices are huge! Great NY thin crust pizza is what you will expect here. I always get the margherita pizza because it’s delish!!! So the staff is really nice and attentive. Parking is in the front meter parking or in the back. I recommend you go!!!

Aw, man. I wanted to love this place but I couldn’t. I walked in off the street to an indifferent staff who could not care less if I was there or not. There was restaurant equipment in the dining area. Apparently nobody there has heard of air conditioning so it was hotter than Satan’s taint. Pizza was salty and bland. The crust was really good. The sauce and cheese was ok but nothing to come back for. No fountain soda so if you wait 20 minutes for a pie and you drink you can, it’s another two bucks. Baked ziti was so bad we left half of it. And we love pasta. Sorry, dudes. We won’t be back. Maybe another pizza joint will welcome us and want us as regulars.

Omg! Everything was perfect at this place! A++! Greeted with a smile & greeting by the woman hostess/cashier as I entered! My experience was surreal — but in a good way! The cashier literally read my mind and pointed me to the lunch specials. I asked about getting a non-carbonated drink instead of a soda, and she recommended either iced tea, or my favorite drink: lemon-flavored Pelligrino(for a buck upcharge). When I asked about the hamburger toppling, she mentioned it was meatballs and explained how they prepare it in the morning. When I had my two slices of pizza on a tray delivered to my table by the cook, she was right behind with silverware and a napkin. And the Booths & men’s bathroom were clean. Great experience!

A fast ride downhill for this joint. Tonights dinner arrived finally after 1 ½ hour wait… I recieved someone elses pizza, I have no idea what was on it but tons of onions and greenn peppers…“Great!” It was cold… the box was stuck to the top… Wings not cooked… Oh yeah delivery dude was the cook, showed up without any change… if you can’t afford to hire employees… pull the plug. «Thats all She wrote»…

These guys make it *really* difficult to see a menu online. Fortunately Unilocal does a good job at replicating it in the menu section.(I called and they said the only place their menu appears is on Facebook, which has a PHOTO of their menu, but you have to search through the timeline. Bad form. Here is the link: ) I also posted the menu photos here on Unilocal. They deliver in Mt. Washington.

Went for the first time. Bertha welcomed my friend Robert and I with open arms attitude. So warn and inviting conversation. Bertha made my experience so memorable that when I’m in town next time? I’m surely going to be dropping by. The house salad was fresh and crisp. The vinaigrette tasted like it was made to order. The pizza was exceptional. The crust was cooked to perfection. Had the right amount of chew and consistency. The atmosphere is relaxing and casual. Tight parking in the back, yet it’s with it. I’d definitely recommend coming here.

Love their thin crust pizza! Lunch specials are the best and to top it off the owners(usually at the cash register) are super nice and will remember you :) We’re here once a week & finally decided to rate this place

Good pizza but service is needs work… We just shelled out $ 48 bucks for pizza and wings. Even gave the driver an $ 8 tip(poor and rushed judgement from my husband). We weren’t offered red pepper flakes and parmesan AND for me that is a must! I called and the driver came back but that was 30 mins later and we were pretty much done eating anyway. We’ve been going to Brownstone for awhile and I’m sad to leave them. But for $ 50+ you’ll find us at the Luggage Room or the new 5 Line with the proper service you’d expect for this pizza pay grade.

This is a superb pizza. Top 5 pizza I’ve ever had in LA. Classic NY style, crust is super thin which allows the cheese and sauce to dominate your palate. They don’t skimp with either. Sauce is perfectly sweet and rich at the same time. Really stands out. They use premium toppings. Love the supreme pizza, they pile on the sausage, pepperoni, green peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Such a great pizza. Also have sampled their antipasto salad, which was really good. Even their pastas are solid. But pizza is what they are known for and I highly recommend it.

Great pizza, great simple pasta, and great staff! The casual, neighborhood vibe is also pretty awesome. My mom, brother and I love to frequent this place a little after peak dinner hours so it’s usually pretty empty. Very reasonably priced and small beer selection as well! We always get a large pizza, penne with basil pesto and the Antipasto salad. The Antipasto salad is amazingly fresh which makes is extra tasty — I highly recommend it! And I really enjoy the pesto sauce there — it is different than the usual pesto as it’s not blended as finely which gives it a lighter feel and is not cream based. So delicious! Parking: is very easy! You can usually score a spot directly in front with street parking being ample but if not the two side streets on either side are available. We often park there and just walk over which is nice as well since the neighborhood is lively and fun.

With a heavy heart and a deep sadness in my soul, I must update my review for Brownstone with a star rating downgrade. For the past few months I’ve been ordering a large pie to-go on weekends I’m back in Pasadena. This pizza makes the long trip back to the desert with me(after I have a couple fresh hot slices out of the box for lunch) to be bagged and stored in the fridge for future pizza cravings. I have become so reliant upon Brownstone to give me that just-like-NJ pizza experience that I think I was subconscioulsy ignoring its recent decline. I have to admit that the past 3 times I’ve ordered a large pie, the quality of ingredients and flavor has been noticeably not as good. The sauce is no longer as flavorful and lovely as I remember it being a year ago. It’s too salty now, and almost non-existant on the last few pies I’ve ordered. They have also been extremely stingy with cheese. My last 2 pies were just broiled crust with almost no sauce and a paper-thin layer of fried to sh*t cheese. There is literally no where else in the east LA area(that I’ve tried) where true NY/NJ style thin crust pizza is made. The Luggage Room in Old Town makes a delicious personal pie, but they are more ‘gourmet/specialty’ style pizza, not the old-school fold-up style I’m reminiscing about and crave, which Brownstone use to deliver on point every time. Please look into your sauce and ingredient quantity issues, Brownstone! You are my only hope! I don’t want to face a NY-style pizza-less existence out here in LA…

For some reason I find myself here more often than I would’ve thought. The pizza and salad are growing on me more because of its consistency and reliability. I would love to give Brownstone a 4-star review because I am a fan of what they offer, especially when considering the area and their local competition. However, the service is severely lacking. The more and more we go the less service we seem to be receiving. There is simply no urgency or friendliness but instead zombie-like demeanor.
