Booked a last minute appointment on
with Krissy and got a great deal. She responded straight away (got the Text message straight back saying the Appointment was confirmed). From the time I requested to the time I was in the chair was under an hour. The haircut is awesome. I gave pretty vague instructions and she nailed it. Also, getting to her salon was super easy and you can park free over the road at Ralphs or she can validate parking next door. Highly recommend Krissy!

You know that awkward feeling when you’ve been sitting in a hairdresser’s chair for two hours, making small talk, when you realize you’re not happy with the results but it’s too late to say or do anything?
Ladies — check out the reviews and notice most of these 5 star ratings are coming from men. Krissy told me she mainly does men’s hair cuts, and that explains where her expertise lies. So, let’s get down to the experience:
The setting: don’t expect a real salon vibe here. It is a room with 3 chairs that Krissy rents in a complex of salons, almost like a beauty mall. You won’t be offered coffee or water, and the only magazines in sight were Maxim and Rolling stone (and I had to poke around to find any magazines at all while my hair was setting). There’s no real waiting room, just a few chairs outside in the hallway.
Krissy was friendly enough for the most part, but I thought the way she talked and complained about her other clients was unprofessional. She’ll probably see this review on Unilocal and complain about it to the next person who comes in.
Now, down to the actual hair styling. I got the Groupon for a single process dye, cut and style.
Somewhere along the line, Krissy and I miscommunicated and I wound up with permanent hair dye instead of demi-​permanent. Demi-​permanent dye doesn’t lift any melanin out of the hair shaft, and permanent dye does. This is a key point to me, and I had gone through a bunch of research/​questions/​education with former stylists to learn this.
I have to conclude she must not really be current in women’s hair trends and technologies. I’ve spoken with many stylists in the last year and they’ve all said they wouldn’t think of touching my hair with permanent dye; (my last salon STRONGLY talked me out of it, even when I originally thought that’s what I wanted). Krissy told me the only difference is that demi-​permanent dye is more diluted. That’s not even true. Does she really think this, or was she just lying to appease me? Either way, disconcerting. And she gave me attitude at the end when I started to question her, and at that point I just wanted to leave and mourn the loss of my melanin.
I left her a 20 dollar tip because I am non-​confrontational and guilt-​ridden.
As for the cut — it’s decent. I’m fine with it. I have plain long hair, so that’s hard to mess up. Still, even as she was cutting, I didn’t feel that she was completely adept, and the way she blow dried it was a little awkward and non-​styled.
For women who want a current, cool style and an artistic touch — pay the few extra bucks and go to a «real» salon for women. I think her Groupon is way overpriced for what you get and I don’t have much confidence in her abilities. I could have gotten this exact thing at Supercuts.

Krissy was great! She is very talented and she was a pleasure to talk to as well during my cut & color! I am very happy with the results :)
And the salon is so intimate and fun!

I’ve been seeing Tim for a few years now and I followed him to Alexander’s new location. He always does a great job — would recommend him for any men’s cut. And more importantly, he’s a really nice guy.
The new set up is great and convenient. Lots of street parking (free and metered) if you don’t want to use the garage. Their suite has the same look and as the old location and is clean and welcoming.

Always a pleasure to get my haircut by Krissy. Although she’s cut my hair for a while now, she always verifies what I want to do and then does an excellent job. The new location is smaller but works just as well as the old one. With way more parking too!

I’ve been going to Krissy for over ten years. She’s not only a cool person to spend that haircut time with, but she’s an amazing stylist as well. She cuts my whole family’s hair from a barber cut for me to a punk rock style for my wife and a great stylish cut for my young daughter. Can’t recommend her highly enough. Great work. Great pricing. Great person to hang with.

I love Krissy. I’ve had her cutting my hair for years and won’t let anybody else touch it. I can always trust her to have me walking out of there looking good.

I’ve been coming to see Krissy for over 4 years. I couldn’t be more grateful to find someone as skilled as she is. Most importantly, she knows how to cut my curly hair! I’ve done so many different hair treatments with Krissy over the past four years, including Realisse straightening systems, highlights, full color, and about 3 – 4 haircuts per year. Krissy has never let me down, and I always leave feeling like I got incredible service and amazing-​looking hair. She is so knowledgeable about her craft, and I have never been to someone as skilled as she is with curly hair. I highly recommend her services.

The only thing I can say is that consistency speaks more than any word could state. I always had a problem finding people that can do exactly what I wanted them to do and Tim had no problem fixing that for me. I’ve traveled all over the world and whenever I’m overseas, I cant wait to get back home and get back to Tim. Which is the reason I’ve been going to him for about 5+ years now. I cant recommend him enough and applaud Tim for his ability. Not only is he great at what he does, but he’s a genuinely nice guy. Thanks for everything Tim!

Krissy is great, always does a great job and helps give me a great cut despite not knowing anything about fashion or looks :)

Have always loved the results I’ve had from Krissy. She has done everything for me from highlights to full color and short, angled cuts to long layers. Though I don’t still live locally, I take a break from my local stylist to see Krissy when I’m in town. She is professional and pleasant; always takes the time to understand what I am looking for, and makes fun and creative suggestions. She has also cut my husband’s hair and helped him find a style that made him comfortable with his hair loss without going for a buzz cut. Check Krissy out… you won’t regret it!

Krissy J came highly recommended from another friend and has been a pleasure to work with. Her knowledge of the kinds of style I am interested in is excellent, she has always been fun to work with, and the staff at Alexander’s is always friendly and helpful. She’s been my source of haircuts for some time now. She is extremely knowledgeable about products too, and has a deeper understanding than most other stylists.

Best haircut I’ve ever had! Tim is a magician at his craft and I highly recommend him to anyone. He takes his time and has that extra attention to detail that’s hard to find but makes you feel reassured that he gives every cut his best effort.

Head to Alexander’s and ask for Tim. He’s as good as it gets for a guys cut on the westside. I’ve been seeing Tim for over two years and he always does a great job. Consistent cut, attention to detail, and always great conversation. Highly recommend Tim for anyone who needs a haircut on the Westside.
