I’ve tried this bakery a handful of times and i’ve never been wowed. The last 2 times, things have been a little stale and not packaged ‘to go’ properly. Fortunately there are enough other places in Long Beach that have consistently been fresh and top notch.

Ordered the red velvet cream cheese frosting cake for my son’s birthday… delicious! We will be back to try other flavors

Hands down the best red velvet cake. Very moist not too sweet and the cream cheese icing. just speechless good. I’ve also had their butter cake bars. Those should be illegal. Ahmazing. and how lucky I live one block from them. Will be running and swimming more lol

I haven’t tried a single pastry I didn’t like here. The ham and cheese pretzel croissant I had a while back was amazing, cinnamon and sugar pretzel was so good, and the scones are so moist and full of flavor. To top it off I have always received really friendly and nice service. Love having this place close by.

Tried this bakery on a weekend afternoon, and the place was empty, but there was a good selection of items left. I had the ooey gooey butter cake and some sort of french toast square, which seemed to taste and look more like a compressed slice of coffee cake. The ooey gooey butter cake was my favorite, and I’d definitely go back for more. More signs for the baked goods in the case would be helpful, as not all were identified when I was there. Service was decent, and prices were as expected. Was a bit too warm in the store.

Foodgasm. How can you choose from all the delicious sweet and savory offerings?

The baked goods were good not change my life good but tasty. What’s terrible is that the staff re-heat in the microwave making the pretzel with ham and cheese soggy. The pretzel dog same issue. The cinnamon rolls were tasty. The donut holes were moist very good. Now the counter person was a real cold, non-friendly individual. No hello no offering of beverages took one look at my children and seemed irked. Mind you they are not toddlers. Even my husband who has the patient of Saint was uncomfortable. The prices were ok. We left with our unfinished goodies and won’t be returning. Such a shame it was a cute place.

This is a favorite spot in all of the LA area! I love their baked goods — they are great quality, the bakery is cozy and comfortable. They serve wonderful coffee, and easy parking in the back. A great spot!

I had a blueberry turnover and small coffee. The blueberry turnover was a little on the very greasy side and the blueberry filling could of been a tiny tad bit bit sweeter for my taste. I saw other pastries I want to try, will be back soon.

I love this place. A lot whenever I use I am force to limit the number of things I will allow myself to buy. Everything is outstanding and the customer service is great too. Great selection of bake goods.

One day, I was craving a kouign amann(if you don’t know what that is, you’re missing out! Originally called the DKA where I first tried it in the Dominic Ansel Bakery in NY, it’s a flaky, buttery pastry made with lots of delicate flour and buttery love!!!) Read for more info, and for more about the supposed best kouign amann’s in LA. I purchased three and had one right after purchase. It obviously wasn’t freshly made nor as good as Dominic Ansel, but it was pretty on the dot! It was on the smaller side, but still did not compromise on the layers of sweet, buttery, smooth flour and sugary caramelization. I brought the rest for family and they all loved it! The kouign amann is a lamentably unknown pastry and is hard to come by in the area, but I’m so glad SBG has a great one available for my spontaneous cravings! The service there was great even though I did admittedly come at an off-time and there was only one girl working out in front. It’s located on the corner and the inside is quite small but with a large case for the pastries– which I’m not complaining about!

I got a chocolate cupcake and a pumpkin pie for my fiancé’s birthday. The cupcake was a little dry but the frosting was AMAZING!(And I don’t even like chocolate). I was a little sad that the pumpkin pie crust broke, however the service absolutely made up for it. The woman who was helping me was extremely kind and helpful she was very patient in assisting me. The total was 7 dollars and I was impressed being that is a little bakery. The inside was very cozy. Had a nice mix of coffee shop and little bakery, with window bench seats. A few tables and a really comfortable feel. It is tucked into the corner of the street and can be hard to kiss so look carefully. I would like to go back and try their savory scone another day.

Sweetest lady running the joint. She was really accommodating… and man, can she sell. I had a ham and cheese pretzel croissant and pumpkin cream cheese loaf. I will be back for the lemon bar. Everything tasted deliciously homemade and fresh. Nothing was dry or stale. Beautiful collection, it’s so hard to choose! The setting is cute and quant. It was quiet in there, I hope LB keeps it goin for her(support local businesses!!). I’ll be back for sure.

A quick breakfast before going to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Kouign amann($ 2.50): not bad, but it was not flaky enough. The sweet, sugary bottom is kinda hard :( Apple tartlette($ 4.25): the apple slices were too tart for me, no pun intended: P They have plenty of parking in the back. 3 stars! Scratch Baked Goods is almost yummylicious!

I love this place because the people are just as sweet as the pastries. The owner has cute décor inside and the staff are wonderful. Try the ham and cheese croissants for lunch and the mac and cheese with a kick! Menu items change daily– these are just some of my favorites!

Nutella pound cake. That’s all I have to say. I was in HEAVEN. The lady is very friendly. I’m so glad I’ve found a bakery nearby I can stop in whenever I have a sweet tooth. I wasn’t too thrilled with the peanut butter cookies everyone raved about, but I“m not a big peanut butter fan to begin with.

Yummy stuff, but why on a Saturday morning is there only one girl who is clearly overworked and taking phone orders while 8 of us wait? Saturday morning equals more people. You need two people. Especially since the poor girl has to let everybody know what each thing is since it’s not labelled. I got here early but now I’m running late. Hmmm…love you guys but get more people please! The girl was friendly, no complaints there :)

Man oh man oh man! This place is downright sexy… the baked goods are impeccably displayed behind a raised counter(no ducking here to see the goods), the café portion is quaint, kinda hip and exceptionally clean and when you peek into the kitchen you can see how pristinely clean it is in there too. But the real kicker is… does it taste good, right? Yowza! It tastes more than good, it’s a symphony for the taste buds. This joint is a little out of the way for me, but I’m super glad I popped by for a treat. Customer service is the cherry on top final touch that makes Scratch deserve 5.

I love this place cause they made those amazing pastries from SCRATCH! «Simplicity is beauty» this is exactly what this place is like. My girl and I went here earlier and our server is so friendly. She suggested us this gooey bar and wow that was great. Its like a combination of a brulé and a cheesecake. And of course I always order my favorite Hungarian shortbread in here :)

I like the new décor, well it’s not new new but definitely nice touch to add more tables and a «café» feeling. If my girlfriends were still in the city, this would be the place to go to get desserts before and after an outing. They have a peanut butter nutter butter type of cookie which is like pb cookie and pb goodness all smoosh together. Definitely worth a try. The best part about getting this cookie is when the baker goes into the cookie jar. Their brioche buns are always yummy. Service is super nice.
