I love all the 1-star reviews from the nail salon people. This place serves really good donuts/croissants/muffins/etc and the owner is a really nice dude. He just doesn’t want customers to have to go away because there’s no parking spots available. Hab a good day!

A really basic donut shop, nothing special. Rude staff with zero customer skills. I asked about a drink and got no answer and pure annoyance. So fine, I’ll take my donut holes and go. I won’t be back

My husband and I just moved to the neighborhood and were really excited to be trying the donut shop by our house, Gladstones. We walk in order our donuts and coffee chat with the owner, he ask some questions to my husband like do you ride a bike, we say yes we ride our bikes all the time(its long beach) and step to the side to let the other guest order while we get sugar and lids for our coffee. Right as we are about to leave he ask my husband if he can wait because he wants to ask him a question. We politely wait for him to finish ringing the guest he had been helping, he pulls out his phone and shows a picture of a man with a hat on(my husband was also wearing a hat) and tells me husband«this is you, when you road your bike here and stole to monsters from me.» This was a statement not a question and proceeded to tell us how he filled a police report. The picture was dated Jan 4th2016 and showed a man with possibly dark hair, wearing a hat and a blurry face because the camera was shitty, with the man coming into the store by the door and another picture of him at the drink fridge. In the picture by the door it has the heights listed by it and it was hard to tell but the guy looked under 6ft, and when he was at the drink fridge he was shorter than the second shelf, my husband is 6’6′ with dark hair and happened to be wearing a hat. We explained how the man my look similar but was not my husband and my husband said hey if you want to get the cops down here I’ll prove it. He said no he wouldn’t and did not apologize for the accusation. I understand wanting to protect your shop but to accuse people wearing hats into your shop is the dumbest way to do it, its disrespectful to your customers and you are just trying to take the law into your own hands. My husband and I will have to find a different donut shop in our neighborhood. I do recommend this shop if at 7:30 am on a Saturday morning you want to be accused of being a thief. The donuts were donuts, nothing to get excited about, but maybe they were tainted by the rude actions of the owner.

This place is probably the best donut shop and bakery in town. They have a large variety of freshly baked goods prepared by someone that obviously loves baking. People get excited about the cronuts but I just ate a mango strudel that was a party in my mouth. This is NOT some donut factory where there is an unlimited supply of identical sugar bombs. Parking is great, either off 7th or park at Smart & Final. The side street, Newport, makes for easy access.

Great place you can tell that they put they’re heart and soul into cooking here food here is A1 and when walking in at 12:15 am and see the employees still working hard it gives me hope for small businesses like this. As a side not the cheesecake is really good I would recommend it

Well I’m pretty regular here up until last week. I usually go here because I get my nails done next door. When the new owner took over I was very excited to see new pastries. However, Friday I didn’t have time to get my donuts until I got my nails fixed because… well the nail place doesn’t stay open 24 hours. The owner had my car towed! What, that’s right this owner is so stingy with his parking spots that even his regular customers get towed. When I asked him if he towed my car, he had the nerve to lie and say, «No, that the City of Long Beach comes around all day towing people if they are parked there.» I thought it was stolen. When the police told me it was towed I went back in(for the last time ever) and confronted our small business owner and he said«Oh well, too bad,» and walked away from me and my 10 year who were now stranded, with our car in Los Alamitos.

After reading all of the horrible reviews here I wondered why I had bookmarked Gladstone donut, oh right, they have cronuts. Parking was easy in a lot right on the side of the store, also no problems with service, I thought the owner was nice. Selection was pretty small on a saturday afternoon, but they did have cronuts left. Only sugared, I prefer glazed, but oh well. I got one to go and hoped that just because it wasn’t pretty and looked a bit deflated it would taste good. Nope, not really, it was just as sad as it looked. A bit stale, really more like a plain sugared donut, not worth the extra money. 3 stars for descent service and offering cronuts, I might come back and try something else next time, but for now, only average.

This place had a lot of Mexican pastries, but didn’t have any donuts. Why is it called Gladstone«Donut Shop» if they don’t have donuts??? I pulled in here because I wanted a donut, and their business name and sign suggests that they had donuts. I walked in here wanting a donut and wasn’t in the mood for anything they had, but decided to pick up a chocolate chip cookie because I felt awkward without getting anything. The chocolate chip cookie was disgusting, had a strange funny taste to it, and gave me diarrhea!!! I’ll never come back here again.

Don’t let the décor or building fool you. They probably have fresher and better donuts than most of the other donut shops in the area.

This mom & pop is just across 7th street from my house, so we’ve made more than a few stops here and each has been better than the last. The donuts are great, and even with Dunkin donuts opening up just up the way, I would take Gladstone’s any day. They even have cronuts, and they’re fantastic — my fave is the Bavarian crème filled cronut. Super indulgent, but when you’re eating donuts, you may as well go all-out, right? The pastries are beautiful and fresh, too– my little guy loves the decorated cookies. The coffee does the job. It’s kinda neither here nor there, not bad, not good. The owner is sweet and lovely. He always remembers us when we come in and is kind enough to catch up with us. What stood out for me is one experience where a homeless man came in and he brought him a donut and a cup of coffee, sat down at a table with him, and had a chat. He made a few recommendations of sober living homes and shelters in the area, and even offered to let the guy stay in his own home. I couldn’t believe his generosity of spirit, and for that, this place has my loyalty.

Gladstone donuts has great donuts. Fresh, large, large selection. Today tried new dunkin donuts, not even close to Gladstone’s. Coffee is not fancy but real good.

This place is a JOKE, the new owner must be the unhappiest person alive on earth. I regularly frequent the nail salon next door and used to park at the donut shop and buy a coffee and donut before my appointment. The old owners used to share the parking with the nail shop. This new guy must have a deal with the tow company, because he obviously isn’t selling any donuts. You’ll get more business with honey dude. I’m sitting here getting my nails done and literately EVERYONE in this nail salon is talking about how pathetic u are because u just attempted to tow a woman’s car that’s getting her nails done for the first time here and didn’t know about your shenanigans. Everyone is saying how they’d never set foot in your shop again based on principal. Your passion doesn’t seem to be in being a business owner, perhaps u should be a parking enforcement or a tow truck driver.

Best place in Long Beach to get fat(besides Queen Latifah’s house). My favorite donut shop. First of all they are open 24 hours. In a row! Second the donuts are big and bad and they have some Frankenstein donuts, like maple covered apple filled or crumb covered jelly. Third, they always have dozens of powdered, chocolate, or glazed donut holes, sold in any quantity. Grab at least half a dozen. It will be like your donuts are the dinner and the holes. are dessert. You might not want to stay long, though. Someone needing change, a fix, or a bath is sure to come within 20 minutes. Ps. The light at Redondo and 7th is a red light camera. Cover your face with a donut when you leave.

Read some of the other reviews. The owner is NOT a nice man, and he will tow your car away the moment you walk away from it for a second. Literally. I’ve seen it happen, and he’s not even a little bit sorry. He acts like a jerk to them. Oh, and to be honest… the donuts aren’t very good. In my opinion(or at least the one I got), it tasted stale. Avoid. At. All. Costs. I hate seeing people be mean to other people for no reason. So unprofessional. So not worth the bad karma.

I was so excited to have a place that served CRONUTS close to home… Unfortunately, the excitement ends there :( The cronut was truely AWFUL! Biggest waste of $ 3.50 :/

It doesn’t matter how many positive reviews there are about the donuts — I will NEVER give my money to this place. The new owner insists on ripping off the nail salon next door(#1 Nails and Spa, which has been there 15+ years) by charging them a RIDICULOUS amount of money to share the parking lot. The previous owner of Gladstone’s charged the salon too, but a rate that they could AFFORD. If you’re going to the nail salon, and you park in the parking lot, YOUWILLGETTOWED. He tried to tow my car recently, but luckily the salon owner helped me out and moved it for me. I had NOIDEA that I wasn’t supposed to park there. If it hadn’t been for the salon owner, my car would have been towed. In my opinion, a business owner who insists on BULLYING the business next door and its customers DOESN’T DESERVEMYBUSINESS.

We came in late in the afternoon, I had been explaining to my boyfriend what a cronut was and we really need to try one. So while I was driving he looked up on Unilocal where we could find some and Gladstone was open and seem to be our best bet, we also called and verified that they still had some. I ordered a plain cronut & the bf got the one with a vanilla custard. Mmmmm… Delicious, nothing out of this world since they were not necessarily fresh, but I am going to be sure to stop by in the morning to get me a fresh one for my next trial. The location itself is large & clean, with a private parking lot, and very friendly staff. I would most certainly come back, also I am pretty sure this location is open 24 Hours :)

This donut shop is always busy, regardless of the time of day. The donuts are fresh. They have a nice selection of all the standard favorites. Only gave them 3 stars because the location and parking lot are sketchy. I think a minor renovation and better lighting in the parking lot could go a long way.

I haven’t been here since I moved out of Long Beach, so there were two things that stood out to me: 1. New owners. 2. Less donuts, but more of many different kinds of pretty high quality baked goods. Like, the kind you would expect at a good bakery — where the new owner apparently worked before. I’ve upped a few photos, the best things I had I actually didn’t get a picture of — the glazed pecan bar and the powder sugar almond cookies. There’s no line here so I think it is worth a try.
