Payless Airport Shuttle

We made the call to Payless from the San Pedro pier as instructed to do in their confirmation email. The driver said he was less than 10 minutes from our location. He was right! The driver was courteous and handled our luggage from beginning to end. We arrived at LAX in plenty of time for our flight. The payment process was easy and we instantly received a receipt via email. The van was clean, comfortable and looked fairly new. They met all our expectations from the moment we made the reservation to moment we were at our destination. I would use Payless again based on our positive experience.

I don’t know what to say except they are awesome. They texted me on the day of the trip and told me to let them know when our plane landed and then when we were picking up our luggage, we texted them as advised, walked outside and they were right outside the door! Getting off the cruise ship was exactly the same and the cost was less than half of what we all would have paid for the cruise shuttle. Thank you for making our trip worry free!

The shuttle was on time, and they gave me a call 5 minutes early so I could be out on the curb and ready. It was a smooth ride. The driver was on time and friendly. We had two pairs of skis and luggage, but it was not a problem for the driver. The pick up at LAX was easy, they were on standby, and I called when we landed. We will use Payless Shuttle again.

So we prepaid for a shuttle to and from the cruise terminal. Our ride there was fine. But we called over an hour ago to be picked up. Said they would be here in 30 min and we are still waiting. We called to inquire about the hold up and they said they were just leaving LAX. We said we are waiting in the sun with a man in a wheelchair and have flights to catch. They said if we didn’t like it to make other arrangements. They were the arrangement! Poor customer service.

What a great experience! Super easy process. Just text the driver when you’re ready and they arrive in a few minutes. The car was clean and the driver was friendly and professional. We will definitely use these guys again whenever we are in Southern CA.

So I called this so called airport shuttle service company, and was told to call a taxi!!!
I’m flying out of LAX with my family of 15 passengers, my impression of her lack of attention could be a reflection of their service, thank you very much!

I called 3 other shuttle companies that advertised private airport transfers and could also provide car seats before finally deciding to use their service.
Payless actually listened to my instructions. The car seat was rear facing and the straps were where they should have been for a 32″ tall toddler. Every other time I have used a shuttle service that claims to provide car seats (15x as of today) and specifically requested a rear-​facing convertible car seat for a 30lb 32″ toddler, the car seat has either been forward facing or extremely wobbly.
Whomever it was that picked up the phone seemed unfriendly, condescending and kind of snippy. I had asked if they could offer a lower price due to their Long Beach location relative to others based in Los Angeles, she responded by saying I should just use another service if I could find something cheaper. (I mean jeez. I was just asking.) In the end, they did have the best price if only marginally.
When it was time for a pick-​up, I called to ask her if the shuttle driver could please pick me up from the Downtown Disney pick-​up spot by the ESPN Zone because it would be closer for me, the condescending tone returned and she said she didnt understand how it could be closer and that I just needed to walk out the park and turn left. I asked for a change of location because we were at Earl of Sandwich grabbing my daughter’s dinner since I knew we would have no other opportunity to eat before arriving in Oakland at 10pm, well past my 22 month old’s bedtime. I didn’t feel like arguing and at that point, I could have probably run faster than it would take to explain/​discuss the why/​how and then wait for her to do the same with the shuttle driver.
Fortunately, the shuttle driver (Dan) was polite, friendly, efficient, and thoughtful. He arrived earlier than promised and when I explained that everything was delayed due to some boat traffic on It’s a Small World ride (seriously), he seemed more concerned about me missing my flight than I was! (I was actually freaking out internally, I’ve just learned not to show it as often now that I have an über sensitive toddler who very quickly reacts to and mimics my emotions.)
He got me the airport in record time and even offered for me to pay for the shuttle during the ride to reduce any further delays. He also helped me set up my stroller as I unloaded my things from the van.

a bit early, but efficient, courteous, and professional. this was a friday evening, during rush hour, to LAX. will definitely use again.

I live in Huntington Beach and have used this service a couple of times. Every time was excellent! The driver was always on-​time, even when he had to be at my house at 4:30 am! I felt like the staff did a very good job, and was professional each time I called to schedule a pick up. They helped me with my bags both in and out of the van, and always got me to my destination early. Each time the van was clean and comfortable, and the driver was very pleasant, not too chatty, but polite and professional. I have to say, this has got to be a tough business to be in because of all of the variables, traffic, weather, road construction, the way people drive, etc. I feel like Payless did a great job getting me where I needed to be on-​time, even getting to the airport on-​time during rush hour.

This was my first time booking or taking a shuttle so I did extensive research and looked through countless Unilocal reviews to find a shuttle. I was flying down to LAX for a Carnival Cruise in Long Beach. Unfortunately San Jose doesn’t have direct flights to LB therefore i had to book a shuttle for my group of 7.
I read how nightmarish a lot of other shuttle companies were so i was very hesitant about the whole shuttle ordeal in general. For 1, i didnt wanna be the one in charge of book the shuttle and have something happen and screw it up for the other 6 people.
I found their Unilocal,went to their website and requested an online quote. Was emailed within the next 10 hours, $ 80 for a one way trip from LAX to Long Beach Cruise Terminal (van seats 8 passengers if i recall correctly) which came out to be much cheaper than doing the Carnival airport transfer. They ask to put a credit card on file but allow you to pay cash day of or have your card charged.
Simple process; they email you information on what to do when you get there. Text/​Call to let them know you landed then text/​call again to let them know that you have your baggage and waiting curbside, then driver would arrive within 5 mins.
Reason why I didn’t give them 5 stars was because our driver wasn’t too personable and didnt come off too friendly. Her driving was a little scary but we did get there in one piece. Only time she talked to us was at the end to let us know the red shuttles take us to the Long Beach Downtown area. Other than that, Payless Shuttle exceeded my expectations and made my first shuttle experience quite smooth.

Truthfully, I was not as impressed with this service as other Unilocal users — it was OK, but I felt like we spent too much time waiting for a prearranged shuttle service. I called when our plane landed as instructed and then called again when we had picked up our bags. We were told we would be picked up in 10 minutes but we stood on the curb for a good 20. The driver said she had to «circle» several times before she could find a place to cut-​in to the curb. Fine — I understand airport traffic. But then we used them again when we got off our cruise boat and followed the instructions we were given to a tee and again ended up waiting 25 min. even though we were literally the first ones off the boat. I prearranged all of our transportation as we were on a pretty tight schedule and I wanted to avoid the waiting, but that didn’t seem to be what happened. Just know that pick-​up by Payless means multiple calls and some waiting. On the plus side, the drivers were both pleasant and the vans clean.

Their ad on Unilocal!said taxi, shuttle, etc. I called asking for a ride to the airport. The lady who answered asked me if I wanted a private shuttle. I said, «No.» She replied, «Okay, bye,» and hung up on me! Terrible, just plain terrible!: (

Dragging car seats around airports is a real hassle, so before going on our last vacation we wanted to find a shuttle service that provided car seats so that we didn’t have to bring our own. Payless Airport Shuttle seems to be one of few shuttle services in LA that provide car seats for securing small children in LA traffic, so we chose to book with them. We didn’t regret it.
On departure the driver was 10 minutes early, but parked outside the building and waited for us.
On arrival we sent a text to PAS once the flight had landed, and called their number once we had picked up our bags. We had to wait about 15 minutes for the driver to get to the terminal and pick us up. Long enough for tired kids to start getting anxious, but still not too bad. Driver was also very polite and drove the van nicely.

I was headed to Disneyland from Long Beach Airport by myself with three kids. I wasn’t looking forward to the drive and based on previous reviews I contacted Payless.
It was a life saver! I filled out the form online got a quote and then confirmed my reservation. I switched hotels and let them know.
When I got to the airport I called to let them know that I had arrived and the van was there very promptly and it was spotless. The drive was actually really pleasant.
I paid using square and they emailed me my receipt upon arrival– Seamless.
I called on the morning of my departure to remind them that I had moved hotels they said yes that had already noted it. When I went down after checkout they were waiting for us and I had been texted that the driver was outside.
It was just one less thing to worry about and all my interactions with the drivers and staff were very pleasant. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Great job and thank you for the wonderful customer service!

What a JOKE! I called to find out rates and book shuttle service and the woman that answered the phone was ridiculous! She wasn’t paying attention to what I was asking, she kept interrupting me and talking to someone else and telling me to hold on. When I would ask a question she would say «What?» and I would have to repeat myself — after the 3^rd time being asked to hold on, I hung up… Even if they had the BEST service, I would NEVER use this company… two words… CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Used them for 1^st time to get from Belmont shore to LAX (as limo, not shared service). Having had no– show experience from taxi co. which will remain nameless I insisted that driver be on time when making reservation for 4:30 am. In fact driver showed at 4:10. She graciously waited while I finished breakfast.
The driver had a very gentle driving style, much appreciated so early in the morning. The van was clean and apparently well maintained. The only reason for 4 stars is that a van rather than a car was used to drive one person.
Will definitely use again.

The driver was 30 minutes late for pick –up and didn’t apologize. Kept us waiting with anxious kids. AND on the return… 1 HOUR late!!! She said, «oh, I’ll be there in 15 minutes». I called when the «15» minutes turned into 30 minutes and the woman said, «oh, I’ll be there 10 minutes. That’s funny she said she’d be there in 15 min. when I called 30 mins. ago. 1 HOUR LATER… we used another shuttle service. DONT GO THERE… THERE ARE CHEAPIER SHUTTLES WITH BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE. KENDRA WAS HORRIBLE… I REPEAT… KENDRA IS HORRIBLE AND NEEDS TO GET OUT OF ANY INDUSTRY THAT REQUIRES CUSTOMER SERVICE AS SHE HAS NONE!

I was in Long beach for a company convention in April and then in June. Both times I called them to pick us up at the Westin to take us to LGB. The driver was very friendly and always on time. Their rates are extremely reasonable for a group. We always had 10 people and filled the van each time. The van was clean and comfortable.
I will be certainly using them in the future, not just for company trips but also for private trips to Southern California.

Fantastic!
First, they were not only on time for my 4:45 AM pick up, but showed up 10 minutes early.
Second, the driver, a tiny girl, heaved my heavy bags in the van before I realized what happened!
Third, the van was clean, and Fourth, I was at the airport early for my flight.
The price is great, the locally owned family company is very professional, I will most definitely be using their service again!

Just what most everyone would want for their trip. Reliable, efficient, family run, lowest price. Kendra was awesome.
I spent 1.5 times the fare on a regular taxi, so call these guys instead.
