The Elizabeth Rose Agency

I am not big on reviews, however it is important for me to get the word out about this agency. They are absolutely wonderful. I have been a family assistant/​house manager for over 14 years. When my job ended last year I could not seem to find work. In a panic I called about 10 agencies. With no disrespect to any other agency, because all of the agents were very nice, I have to say that Elizabeth Rose is the only agency that landed me several interviews for potential jobs. Other agencies would call to ask about jobs or potential interviews for work that I had no interest in (such as housekeeper etc) or say they would «send over my resume» and then say they hadn’t heard back ftom the client. Amy and Carrie were dedicated to finding me work. Work that I was actually skilled/​interested in. Their job board was always up to date and full of new jobs. Whereas some (other agencies) would have posts with amazing job description & salary but every single time I called there was no job. I spoke mostly with Amy on my search and she was extremely professional, honest, and diligent. I have just recently landed a wonderful job through Elizabeth Rose and I couldn’t be happier with the family. I highly recommend calling Elizabeth Rose if you are looking for work because they really are passionate about finding you the best job and they are from my experience the best Agency in the LA area (and I have dealt with quite a few!)

I have registered with other agencies over the years. None of the agencies seem to have my career goals nor best interest in mind as much as The Elizabeth Rose Agency. I have worked with Jack Lippman on both contract and long-​term employment. There is no one else who truly cares about fitting both the Client and Candidates prerequisites. Other agencies have sent me on interviews and clearly had not done the diligence of the Clients expectations. After all these years Jack is an aficionado in fitting both parties needs. Unlike other agencies; Jack consistently presents candidates potential positions with salary range, job description and all other particulars for the candidate to decide if they want to be submitted. He will offer his opinion for the candidate and I have to say without fail he has been spot on 100% of the time. The Clients have been beyond happy with Jack for short-​term or long-​term situations. The long-​term positions I have held came to an end due to re-​location, one the Client and secondly I relocated back to Los Angeles. I have literally the very best job and I could not be any happier. I have also been in a hiring position within a couple of my assignments and Jack has come through for me, finding a temporary assistant, a long-​term driver, housekeepers and chefs. He has saved me a couple of times during crises staff needs, coming through late in the night. The Elizabeth Rose Agency is as good as it gets!

AVOID THIS NANNY AGENCY AT ALL COSTS
Families beware! I would urge families to consider other agencies before hiring Elizabeth Rose Agency (ERA). I signed up to Unilocal today just to warn other families about this agency’s business practices.
Our family hired ERA in November 2015 to find a nanny who could take excellent care of our two boys. Unfortunately, from beginning to end, we were misled.
In order to win our business, Amy Castellana assured us that ERA would find the perfect solution to meet our family’s needs. She stated that any nanny sourced through Elizabeth Rose would provide a «high level of childcare» and undergo «the most thorough screening available.» After paying a $ 7000 fee on an entire year’s salary, the nanny we hired turned out to be an ABSOLUTE DISASTER (see details below) and we fired her within the first week.
Even though we paid a fee for a year’s worth of work and the nanny worked only 2 full days, Elizabeth Rose refused to refund the difference they owed.
Shockingly, they pointed to the FINE PRINT in their invoice, which states:
«Elizabeth Rose Agency makes no assertions, statements, or guarantees regarding the applicant’s legal status, work status, work abilities, immigration status, criminal history, age, race, religion, or country of national origin. Elizabeth Rose Agency cannot guarantee any work experience or history claimed by applicant. Client, not Elizabeth Rose Agency, is solely responsible for the verification and validation of all information and references provided. Elizabeth Rose Agency is solely a finder of applicants looking for work (domestics) and as such has compiled a database of registered applicants.»
Significantly, none of the above disclaimers were included in our Client Agreement.
Not only did the nanny totally misrepresent her experience (she did not have the child care experience she purported to have, did not speak to our children in a developmentally appropriate manner, was visibly nervous in our boys’ presence, her hands shook, etc), but she did not adhere to the basic terms of our work agreement (no cell phone use, her job responsibilities, etc). Neither of our sons wanted to be in her care. Her emotional stability was also in question when we discovered her muttering to herself and bizarrely insisting that she had performed a task correctly when she had clearly made visible mistakes.
Please consider our experience when deciding which agency to hire. In order to win your business, Elizabeth Rose will use this classic «bait and switch» approach. Save your family’s sanity and do not make the same mistake we did.
UPDATE: It has come to my attention that Elizabeth Rose Agency tried to have my review taken down. This is the height of unethical conduct. Thank goodness Unilocal refused.
In response to Julie’s reply, it should be known that I was NOT pleased with ERA’s services once the nanny arrived and she clearly was not who she was represented to be. As I mentioned in my original posting, of course I demanded a refund. Did Julie not read the above review?!

I’ve worked with so many agencies and often times I’ve noticed they have their own agendas. Elizabeth Rose has been truly dedicated to the cause of finding me a position that is not only a good fit for me, but for the family I team up with. They are wonderful at matchmaking and take a lot of pride in it, as they should. This agency is honest, fair, and extremely professional. Every time I had a question, they got back to me immediately. I’ve been a nanny for a little over 8 years now, and it’s so nice having a high end, top notch agency behind you.

What an AWESOME agency this is!!! I’ve been placed by them for my last couple positions and known them for many years. Everyone at the ERA is professional, top notch, supportive, very very experienced, and trustworthy. Amy and Julie are amazing! They know what they are doing and genuinely want the best match at the end. I applied about 6 months ago and that was the only time I spoke with Amy. I have been calling once a week since then just like she told me. I do not understand why she cannot take a few minutes out of her day to answer my call directly to let me know what is available or if she is even willing to help me at all. I am not wasting my time anymore with this agency.

Life is funny. I currently have a dear friend who is a single dad who is in the market for a qualified nanny. We were discussing agency options when the subject of Elizabeth Rose Agency came up. I strictly forbade him to use this agency because of an experience I had working for a celebrity through this agency back in 2003.
I did everything perfectly for this person. I went into a disorganized estate and within two months and three weeks I had accomplished everything for this individual, right down to writing manuals detailing paint colors and preferred grocery products.
Rather than reward me for a job expertly and meticulously done, I was unceremoniously fired, conveniently, just in time for me to be eligible for health insurance. I had never been fired before and have never been fired since.
Whether Jack Lippman knowingly placed me with an erratic, emotionally unstable individual or not is not the point. However, rather than stand behind me and work to re-​place me immediately, I dealt with the worst cavalier shoulder shrugging indifference I have ever experienced in 18 years of living in New York City and 14 of living in Los Angeles. Jack Lippman displayed absolutely no compassion, no contrition, no understanding.
Overall, in exchange for my dedication, fantastic performance, and loyalty, I was devalued, unappreciated, shafted and unceremoniously dismissed. If you are a quality service professional and you care about your career, beware. Don’t work for this agency. I was gravely sorry I did.

Elizabeth Rose is by far the best Agency in Los Angeles.
When looking for work as a nanny I really want an agency to take the time and know me and my lifestlye. Amy and Julie did just that. The two of them understood exactly what I was looking for and paired me with the perfect family.
Do not waste your time if you are an on and off again nanny. This agency expects the best for their high end clientele.

I have been in the childcare industry for over 12 years and have worked as a nanny for over 5. I have been represented by a number of agencies throughout my career and have to say that the professionalism, standards, and commitment I have witnessed from the Elizabeth Rose Agency are really top notch. Their interview process and requirements and are more thorough than I have seen with other nanny agencies. It is clear that they have a commitment to excellence and are looking for the best of the best.
I have worked closely with Amy and can say that she has gone above and beyond to help me find the right match. She has been supportive, professional, and determined every step of the way. She has been putting in an unbelievable amount of effort to help me out and I truly appreciate it. I have never once had to call in to see if any positions have come in that would be a good fit because they call me regularly. They take initiative and do their absolute best to make the client and the caregiver happy.
I would recommend the Elizabeth Rose Agency to anyone either looking for a nanny or looking for a nanny position. They are wonderful to work with!

ERA is the most professional agency I’ve worked with. When I say «worked,» what I mean by that is, I actually got interviews and employment through them. In the beginning I tested out a couple other agencies and I found complete disorganization, they never could remember who I was, and they requested a weekly call in to see if anything was available, but when you call they’re not available.
Within 2 days of submitting my resume to ERA I was called in and by the end of the week Jack Lippman had me set up with two client interviews. A week later I did a test run with a client. I ended up finding a position outside of the agency, but as that collapsed I reached out to Jack again; that SAME day he had me an interview the following morning, followed by an interview with a different client 3 days later, and I actually took a job this time.
To be fair, you have to have the experience and personality to work with high end/​high profile clientele. These people are paying higher salaries than most people get paid in a job that requires a college degree. The reputation of the agency depends on it.
I oppose the notion that the agency does not support the employees. They want you to be happy with your job and if you feel it’s not a fit they’ll place you elsewhere. It’s never anything personal.
If you ask me, ERA is wonderful and Jack is a rockstar.

I love this agency! I have worked 2 professional positions with families I met through Elizabeth Rose Agency. Amy is awesome. She works hard to find the right fit and she got me out on interviews right away! I highly recommend this agency!

I actually signed up for Unilocal this morning just to write a review here because we had such a poor experience and wanted to let people know. I have heard other stories about other agencies being difficult to work with as well, so maybe it is an industry thing and not specific to Elizabeth Rose. But our experience with them has been difficult and disappointing from start to finish. I would urge anyone to look at other agencies before choosing Elizabeth Rose.
On the front-​end of our relationship, they misled us (I would say they lied, but I am sure they would disagree and blame naïveté) into thinking that they had done background checks on our nanny. Only after a nanny in NYC shot and killed two children did they reveal that they had actually not done a proper background check (as advertised), but instead said that we should trust them because they had a «good feel» for the business.
Then, after paying a fee on an entire year’s salary to the agency, our nanny resigned to take a full-​time job (she was part-​time with us, so it was understandable that she wanted a higher-​paying job and she is leaving on good terms). Even though we paid a fee for a year’s worth of work and the nanny worked less than six months, they refused to refund the difference which they owed.
I am sure they are trying hard, but I would strongly caution parents on using this agency to look for a nanny, as they have proven to be difficult and ambiguous with the truth at every step. They are disorganized, unprofessional, and not polite with clients.

This agency has been a life saver for me! I have been an Assistant for high level executives and celebrities thanks to Jack Lippman. He has been in the business for many years and has loads of contacts to get you your dream job in no time. His upbeat personality and drive makes you motivated to hit the ground running. He also provides tons of support so you don’t have to stress too much while job hunting. I will always have work as long as I have Jack Lippman as my recruiter!
