I been to this club 2 times and I definitely wont be returning. The music was cool but the crowd was«whatever».

I went this past weekend with my best-friend and her cousins on Saturday, they had came out the previous night and said it was poppin. Eh we got in free(yay) but once inside it was pretty empty and it was an older crowd. The DJ wasn’t that great the drinks were dee-lush I had a Malibu. Once more people came it got better after we left one of the guys working the front door said the pizza place next door had great pizza. It was indeed great and only 3 bucks can’t beat it. Over all it wasn’t bad and it wasn’t great maybe it was just the day I went

I dont understand you downtown long beach. Are you being run by the mob? Do you not care to provide quality dancing to your patrons? With a prime location, you would think that club owners would read the reviews and try to revamp their clubs so people actually want to go. Cohiba’s is a hot ass mess. I absolutely abhor the bouncers here. On every occasion I have had a bad encounter. Like many of the reviewers, I only went because a friend wanted to or it was the closest thing. Not once, but twice I have walked away because of their rudeness. On one reggae night, they wanted us to pay $ 15 to get in when the website said it was free before a certain time. They must not know much about false advertising. Either that or they think everyone owns a pager still, because we pulled up the information on this thing called an Iphone and they still wouldnt honor the free entry. Another time, I went on Cinco de Mayo. I asked about a cover charge and the bouncer said: Oh you think because you’re Mexican I owe you a favor? Then followed up with something else that was racist. I walked away. The few times I have been inside are terrible. Music is sub par. And yes, a lot of groping and pulling from unwanted solicitors. Other than being a terrible club, I would never go back because everything about this place is disrespectful.

*THISREVIEWISFORCURVES, THEBIGGIRLCLUB @ COHIBA’S ONFRIDAYS* I went for my friend’s birthday bash and I had a GREAT time but only because of the people I was with and the fact that we had our own VIP table. As far as the club, I’m not impressed at all. I’m a BBW but I would not return, it’s just not my scene. They say it’s hip hop and it was but more like underground, nothing I really wanted to dance to. Every time I stepped out on the dance floor I was being grabbed from behind by disrespectful guys and I don’t know who taught them how to «dance» but grabbing a girl and banging her relentlessly from behind is not dancing! I can keep that in the bedroom, I actually want to move my hips and legs. There is some raunchy behavior all around… I felt like bait in a tank full of hungry sharks. At least it was free before 10:30p with the password. They do try to keep the line long outside even though it’s empty inside, I hate when clubs do that. Pro: Bottle service was cool, our waitress was nice and I was so glad to have a private section of the club to run to when I was getting manhandled on the dance floor.

My friends and I came here on a random Wednesday night. The place was pretty empty. No cover, no lines. We went upstairs where there were 2 rooms. One had a few pool tables and a small bar area. The other room was a hip hop/open mic room. It looks like they use that room for live bands. We played some pool, had a couple drinks, and talked to the manager. The place is OK. I don’t think I would come here if I had to pay or wait in line. They allow smoking inside, so if you can’t stand cigarette/cigar smell, don’t come here. Parking sucks. I suggest parking in the Wokcano structure. They charge a flat fee anywhere from 1.50 –10.00 depending on the day and time.

OMG this club is… ghetto! Can be fun if you are with the right group of people and have had lots of drinks. I made the mistake of coming here for my birthday last year and I was soooo disappointed!!! They play really good music but the crowd is just… blah. Mostly older. 28& up. I have never seen this place packed with people and the drinks are basic. I would suggest going to a different club because this place is certainly not worth the $ 20 cover fee.

I can not seriously believe the low ratings on this fine establishment — fellow cigar Unilocalers come on loosen the purse strings bit! The service is beyond excellent, the casual dark mahogany décor with over their sized stuffed seating is great and the hard-A drink selection is pretty good however, the wine offerings are well, fair at best — you guys need some help here my friends. The cigar quality selection is very good but pricey and the inventory is weak — do not go here to stock– up your humidor — but you’ll enjoy a fine smoke while there. If there is a better gar joint in downtown Long Beach please let me know but, for now this takes the cake, with a gar!

Let me just put there… YUCK. Went there last night to listen to some Poly bands play. We got there before the bands started. We were directed to a very large room with a lot of space and a nice large bar. Seating is VERY limited. Since we were a bit early, we were able to score a booth. We got drinks from the bar, which were reasonably priced for a club. Roaming around, we found another smaller area where a DJ was set up and a smaller bar were located. Off of that, there was a large smoking room with 3 or 4 billiard tables. There is a humidor and it’s comfortably decorated – until you actually sit on the couches. Bring someone along with you so they can pull you out. Smells rather cigar-y though. Other than that… so far, so good. Then things went downhill. Eventually a mousy waitress asked if we needed anything. She wasn’t personable and later we found she wasn’t very good either. She forgot orders a lot. And poor thing… I think she actually had to take care of the whole place. We later found out they even serve food. Except for people walking around with baskets, there was no literature anywhere that food was available. As the place filled up(all 3 rooms became packed), the large room where the bands placed got extremely hot. It was so uncomfortable to be in. There didn’t seem to be any air. There were large fans by the stage, but nothing for the room. It was absolutely miserable. Management and personnel were not clearly identifiable so we didn’t even know who to complain to except the sound people and uncaring waitress. And the sound system SUCKED. BAD. The set up of the place is good, but it’s run horribly.

I’ve been here a few times and I have always went in before 9pm because I refuse to pay $ 20 to get in. That is just ridiculous! DJ starts around 9ish. There are 3 different rooms with different types of music but basically all hip hop, reggae and r&b. I do have to give props on some of the dj’s. One night the dj in the room in the back with the huge dance floor was playing some good old school music. I haven’t made it to reggae night(Sunday) yet but I hear the music is great. Drinks are reasonably priced. Bartenders are all super nice! Oh Cohiba’s has a certain stench too. I guess it’s from the cigar’s. p. s. be careful coming down the stairs on your way out especially if you have been drinking!

We decided to hang in the LBC one night with a few friends. I heard about this place, heard how bad it was and how the cigars were bad. I guess once I had one to many Jacks in me, my craving for a cigar got the best of me. We didn’t pay to get in. This was the plus of Cohiba. If I would have, my review would be less polite. I absolutely love the smell of a burning cigar. I find a man with a cigar in his hand mighty sexy!!! MIGHTYSEXY! «excuse me, where is your humidor?» I should have listened. I never listened until I try it. I should have listened. The Cigar was dry and old. Common! If you have Cigar Lounge as part of your business name, please take better care of your cigars. Please keep them humid and please make sure they don’t taste like shit! It’s your reputation! The place was«OK», The idea of being able to smoke in there was intriguing and awesome, however the product… not good. I wouldn’t pay money to get in there. Next time I will BYOC and smoke it after a good night of dancing at Wokano. Peace!

Came here for the grand opening of Club Curves at Cohiba in Long Beach and it was off the chain. This place cracks like broken glass IF and only IF you are around the right people. Whatever you do, don’t come on Saturday after 9pm at all costs because this place is not worth paying a $ 20 cover charge. And no I don’t smoke.

Been here a few times with my african-American friend. Its definitely a club where the majority is black with small hints of other ethnicities. Not a bad thing, not at all— just mentioning it for fellow Unilocalers wanting to stop by. They have Pool tables & a Cigar box in the side room– which some Sports TVs. My PERSONAL Cons– I dont smoke, I suck at pool, the crowd seems a generation older than me, they play too much crunk music(Prefer Top 40s & Hip hop). Overall– I just dont think its a very good club. Charging $ 20 is a joke for this type of venue. I think its geared more for an older crowd that enjoys cigars.

Worst humidor ever! I’ve never seen so many empty boxes sitting on the shelves. My first time here was as member of a sponsored event while attending a trade show at the LBCC. I didn’t realize there was a cover until I read the other reviews but given that there is a cover and the humidor is a waste of space I won’t be back.

We walked into this joint by accident. Thinking it was the Unilocal after party location and even though it was a week night, it was sad depressing how empty this place was. You could almost taste the desperation in the owners/managers as they tried to shuffle you in. Went to the bar and asked what they had on tap. Not a damn thing. It was all mixed drinks. Which I suppose is fine, but when you run a pool room, I would imagine that it would be nice to include some regular beers for the regular ol’ joe’s that come in here to shoot some pool. Asked the bartender where the place we were originally looking for was and she acted like her boss was going to beat her for answering the question. There was some seriously scared look in her eyes as she slightly answered and pointed us in the right direction. The place does have an old fashion early 20’s look to it. So at least it has that going for it. But I have to say that it does seem like this establishment is behind the times on everything else.

Celebrated a friends birthday here, she got so rowdy that they kicked her out. THEBDAYGIRLGOTKICKEDOUT! The place gives me the same vibe that TJ clubs used to, randomly put together with a bit of «dun give a fuh.» Which is not a bad thing, I love TJ, I love the rowdyness. This place didn’t deliver the rowdy though. From my recollection of this place, its not bad. Theres another area of the place where you can chill and smoke cigars, another place where you can shoot some pool.

Contrary to the horrible reviews of this place, I suppose it depends on the promoters and who hosts a particular venue because for some it can make a big difference.(FTR, I do not work at Cohiba’s or have been affiliated with them). Now that we got it cleared up, a friend of mine invited me to check out the Underground Hip Hop/Breakbeats they play on Tuesdays occasionally here. So I agreed and soon enough after the mediocre(and expensive parking at Diamond ‘s garage next door) had to come in here and see what’s the fuss. David C. accompanied me to said spot, since we couldn’t attend a different local spot to get ‘boogie down bronx’ upon. The crowd was your standard indie/hipster/occasional hip hop head with an interest of Rakim and Gangstarr to your local Hip Hop MC playing in the evening. The place was pretty large, somewhat similar to the décor of Seven Grand(not much vintage and less whisky on the bar areas). The bartenders were definitely friendly and hooked it up with some drinks during happy hour which we’re the following: –2 Jack and Cokes –3 Heinekens Spent about $ 12.00 plus tax and tip. The floor wasn’t as sticky as one would expect but it can easily get scuffed. I suggest not OD’ing on the Electric Slide, that’s just me. After a small get down session with some other dancers in the cypher and giving a small dance workshop. For those expecting a ‘Faux Hollywood vibe” you’re better off heading to V2O or some other top 40 spots. I don’t believe this would be the best place to do it, then again it all depends on the promoter and the night you go. So why no five stars? Location wise, wish it were more parking friendly, otherwise you can find it just keep your eyes peeled. I wish more underground hip hop enthusiasts were here, however it’s just my preference. Cohiba’s fortunately you did me justice with the visit I had, I look forward to the next one with good beats, cheap drinks, and dope times on hand. Cheers!

I came here with my sister and her co-workers for one of her co-worker’s birthdays. We had initially tried going to V2O, and was completely unaware that Friday nights was Latino Night? After standing in a ridiculously long line for a non-Hollywood club we decided to move over to Cohibas. We were able to get in for free and each of us all got a free drink which was cool with me! It was pretty packed, the crowd was mixed equally, but I might get a lot of shit for saying this… but girls there were freaking gheeeeetttttoooo, I’m sorry but I don’t consider ebonics as a language. And I’m not trying to be racist/prejudice b/c those girls were Asian. Later on while on the dance floor as I was trying to have a good time and dance with my friends, this girl that’s dancing with her bf standing maybe 4 feet away from me just pushes me! Twice! For no reason! I guess me having fun really insulted her. The music was okay, except for the fact they had some wannabe rapper/hip hop artist performing. and he was not good. Worse was that he was performing a song that’s not very well known as his own. If I wanted to hear an Asian guy rapping and singing poorly I would have stayed home, not gotten primped and purdy and watched YouTube all night. Shiet. This was my first time clubbing/partying in LB and it will probably be the last time. Hollywood to me is better, I’ve never been surrounded by ghetto-ness of that magnitude, or maybe I have, but the music and majority of the crowd was so much better that I was having too much of a good time to notice.

Goodmorning yall, Ok, So after contemplating if we should go to the Highlands or not we drove to Long beach and walked around. For once promoters were tryna win us over and this one had a cute Asian guy in front. He convinced me and my BF to pay 20 to get in. **By the way have money and never run out because that 7 eleven only lets you take out 10 dollars per purchase. :)** 1. Cool and different place with three rooms. One hip hop, Something for the Asian love and the cigar room with pool for 15 bucks(pay when you get done playing) 2. Music was ok but, not good enough cause we kept jumping rooms like every 2 minutes. :) 3. Oh, my GOSH! my boyfriend purchased a drink and which was to much for a shot like glass($ 10). literally 3minutes later the drink was overwhelmed because of the heat and it tasted like water. 4. I was there with my man, but it was once again another club where wack men are standing in a circle on the side with not enough balls to just get out on the floor and have fun. HoodRats definitely, so we kicked it with the Asians most of the time but, trust me they had there share of dancers. Will we go again. Maybe and only because it was the only club that allows my man to wear his nike kicks
