Beyond Tiffany is as good as it gets. Wonderful location. Interesting pieces of furniture from all over the world. Look for Celsa, she can guide you to upholsterers, and she grows some of the most beautiful Orchids which you will see sitting all around the place. It is a nice retreat from the sun on the beach. Did I say it was in a very nice area of Long Beach? Go check it out. I’m going back today to look at a table I saw there earlier. If you are a decorator this is a MUSTSEE!

Well I’m no «fag»( ) but I do love the antiques paradises. And so does my passenger who, while driving the other day, screamed«OMG, look at THAT!!», causing a vicious swerve to avoid the disaster we must surely be in. No, it was only an ancient clothes wringer sitting passively in front of Beyond Tiffany that had caught her eye. She apologized but the damage was done. Needing time to regain my composure, I turned around and parked next to the wringer while my girlfriend nearly flew from the car and into the«fag’s» paradise. Near closing time, the owners nevertheless gave us le grande tour explaining the provenance of any rare and beautiful object that caught our eyes for even the briefest of moments. One fantastic chair, a throne-like thing of carved wood and weaved cloth, caught my interest right up to the time I was quoted a price whereupon my choking elicited a lengthy explanation sure to convince anyone searching for such a rare item that this was an item of incredible value. But I moved on to other things, affordable things. I saw many objects, antique furniture from beds to desks(and chairs(cough)), art, mirrors and clocks all mixed pleasingly with colorful orchids of every size and shape. Orchids? Yes, a large assortment of them is regularly exhibited from the owner’s personal collection, some of which I could actually afford. I had them select a pretty specimen for the novice I am which at $ 21, allayed the gagging response I’d suffered with the $ 1800 chair. It was getting late and they still had to close, otherwise we would’ve spent much more time looking into the dusty corners for that hidden treasure. I know it’s here somewhere. We hit the road and I thank the lord for the nighttime as my friend doesn’t see antique clothes wringers too well in the dark and we got the orchid home without any more near misses. It now sits«feng shui perfect» on my simple black dining room table and another visit to BTs is on the drawing board.

I’d be lying if I said that I am well-versed in antiques, however, the collection they have here is BEAUTIFUL. They have a huge variety in what they offer, and almost everything I saw had the most exquisite detail. I’d really recommend stopping in and taking a peak around. If I knew more about antiques, I probably wouldn’t have left that store without buying at least a few items to take home. Another charming aspect to this store is that a husband-wife pair own it, and the husband grows his own orchids that he brings to the store to sell. He has a decent selection of orchids to choose from and talks so lovingly about them. One negative aspect: While I understand why they did this, and the need to do this(given today’s economy), I was a bit uncomfortable from how outwardly sale-driven the conversations seemed to be.
