Yogenfrüz

I am giving 1-​star because Yogenfruz is Closed/​boarded up ! They broke my heart as I was becoming addicted to their matcha (green tea) frozen yogurt. I went there with my kids less than two weeks ago! Eerily, one if them said“What if we went there and it was Closed. It would be so sad”. Does anyone know why they closed? They were always busy! I loved that they had a seemingly limitless number of flavors (compared to other fro-​yo places) since they add flavor packs for each order. I am seriously bummed out. First, Caribou, now Yogenfruz.

My son David treated us to desert here. I had an Acai Berry Sundae with fresh blueberries and strawberries. It was very tasty. My son Seth got some green tea and mochi sundae. I could tell he was very disappointed with the flavor. David had just strawberry frozen yogurt. He really enjoyed it.
Service was ok. It was not clear as to where to place the order or to pick it up. We got what we wanted and were satisfied.

I very rarely frequent malls, but after an impromptu lunch with hubby and the sons, the eldest suggested this place for a dessert treat.
First you would have to know exactly where you are going to find this little gem. However enough people have because it didn’t seem to be looking for business. Plenty of people were wanting frozen yogurt. However, shocking if you consider that you’re paying nearly 5 dollars for a small cup of yogurt, (approx. 8 oz.) with about two tablespoons of fruit thrown on the sides. It reminds me of how much people pay for a cup of coffee at starBUCKS. Still, it was a «treat» and it was tasty and filling — not at all like ice cream. They had some interesting flavors like acai, green tea with mochi and chai. The fruit that they served with your yogurt was fresh. They also served smoothies and fruit shakes. Oh yes, and you can add a variety of toppings to your yogurt if you wish, however, because they were so busy I didn’t get a close up to see anything.
As for the service — they seemed a bit frazzled. They might be understaffed, but given how small the space they operate in, I don’t think they could handle too many working — four would be about it. They got the orders correct and served them up fast. They were as pleasant as I think they could be given how fast they had to work.

I love, love, love Yogenfruz as compared to all the dime a dozen self serve frozen yogurt places. They have a unique product and I have enjoyed all the different flavors.
I have recently moved to Lombard so this is the closest one for me. I used to go to the one in the Schaumburg Mall.
The service is HORRIBLE! Nobody smiles at you, and they’re working like it’s a punishment to be there. Geez, quit your job then. It doesn’t cost to give a smile to your paying customers. The servers, all of them, are rude and cold. I dare even ask them something since they seemed so «busy» and hurried.
I don’t like the place just because of the customer service. Otherwise, great product.

I tried to go to the website to find out what type of smoothie i had when i first tried this place but couldn’t find it… i just know it was green. It was one of the best smoothies i’d ever had. Good til the very last drop… had me wanting to grab another one before me and my nephew left the mall. I haven’t tried everything this place has to offer but i will definitely stopping in the next one that i come in contact with.

Fro Yo is da bomb diggety, yo.
I love the copious amounts of flavor combos you can come up with at Yogenfruz. Not to mention the pretty delicious pre-​made combos they have. I have noticed that not every yogenfruz has the same flavors.
For instance, this yogenfruz does NOT, i repeat, DOES NOT have gummi bears. Shocking, I know. And a major bummer considering this is so close to me. (There are locations that do have them, though.)
It’s ok, I deal well with my yogurt chips, & mochi balls. Yes, mochi. mmmmmmmochi!
There is one girl here that is SO friendly and really knows her shit when it comes to putting together the best combos of yogurt & toppings.
I could probably live off of this stuff. And because they have a fat free plain version– I could totally eat it every day without worrying about my muffin top bulgin. Woo!

Unless I missed something, this is the only real fro-​yo option in Yorktown. And, as such, it’s worth a visit. Just don’t be expecting soft-​serve Colombo; this is a very firm frozen yogurt, with a distinctively sour tanginess. That sourness doesn’t always play well with some of the flavor options (fruits seem to work best; chocolate-​mint should be avoided), but it does let you know you’re eating something a bit out of the ordinary.
And, yes, unless you’re a babe yourself, you may have a hard time getting the attention of any male workers behind the counter, who seem fascinated by what’s happening in the mall, what’s on their cell phone, etc., etc.

Love me some Yogen Fruz!
I’m reading some of the other posters comments… I’m not sure what they were expecting for a tiny little mall vendor. They are obviously going to have frozen fruit and staff that don’t necessarily know how to answer the bulk of your questions (they’re pretty much all college and high school students).
Having said that, they make a mean fro-​yo. I’ve had many different combinations from them, but my favorites are just plain fro-​yo blended with blackberries and the some holiday gingerbread blend which was great. I always try to peak in for something when I’m at the mall!

Best frozen yogurt! I usually get the plain with strawberries. The yogurt is tangy and creamy — so good! I try and stop by here every time I am at Yorktown.

I love smoothies! Yogen Fruz is still second to my beloved JJ so it doesn’t get much play when I’m around my house since I have both options. However, Yogen Fruz is my top option @ Yorktown when I’m getting my shop on. The tropical storm is my fave– pineapple, orange, mango-​y goodness.
I respect that they put the nutritional info out in plain sight as well (a la Jamba) and I also like how they have dairy and nondairy choices.
Have yet to try the fro-yo.I’m a serious shopper and can’t make the two handed commitment of eating with a spoon.

I was all ready to love this place. We ordered vanilla w/​chocolate chips. One bite in I realized somehow the chocolate chips were stale. We had to toss it less then a quarter of the way through. Now we pass by without even a second glance.

I am so on the Fro-​yo bandwagon.
So, naturally (with the help of a Groupon) I trekked out to Yogen Fruz to see how they stacked up.
Quick sum of my experience: Confusing.
They have chocolate and vanilla yogurt and the usual toppings. BUT, you can also mix fruit/​matcha into your yogurt (for more $$). This is what I surmised from the signs, given that the counter people were less than helpful. I am guessing (again, from the pictures) you can also get smoothies/shakes…Who really knows though. I guess I should have studied the website.
Groupon for $ 6. Order a medium Low Fat with Green Tea mixed in. The gentleman behind the counter rung me up and said I owe 6 cents.
«Do I get toppings?» I ask.
«For 75 cents extra each» He responds. After I already coughed up my 6 cents and Groupon.
So, in total, a medium green tea fro-​yo with a tiny scoop of almonds and about 4 mango chunks cost $ 7.31.
Ouch.
The yogurt itself was good – tangy and smooth and creamy. The matcha mix was nice as well. But, for $ 7.31, I could have loaded up the toppings on a medium at Forever Yogurt or Icream and still have a few pennies left in me pocket.
I’ll go back – if I am in Yorktown – but I won’t make a special trip.

It’s no secret that I have a fro-​yo obsession. I’m insanely jealous of the West Coast and their plentiful fro-​yo options — basically one on every corner. While that’s not the case here in good old Chicago, there is still great fro-​yo to be had! Red Mango is a staple of mine, and now, so is Yogen Fruz!
Downside — this is located in the mall’s food court. I don’t love having to park at Von Maur and find my way upstairs. I also don’t love having to smell the delicious aroma of Cinnabon while I’m being good and ordering my 100 calorie yogurt treat.
Upside — nutritional info is prominently displayed, something I am a huge fan of.

I always get the non-​fat vanilla, mixed with the mango — I love how the fruit is actually mashed up and blended with the yogurt — it sweetens up the flavor a little bit. I don’t even need toppings! It’s delicious, refreshing, and curbs a sweets craving.

I like that the nutritional information is on the menu board behind the counter– that was helpful in ordering. The place looks very popular– there is always a line but it went pretty quickly. The workers were helpful and were able to answer our questions. I tried the very berry smoothie and it was very tasty (but had a ton of seeds)! My husband had the chai shake and really liked it. It felt a little pricey but I know it’s a healthier choice. We will definitely be back soon.

Actually, the reason I’m writing this review is because the store had this little sticker that said «people love us on Unilocal.» I read this sticker alot of times, because the service takes forever. You see, instead of having multiple yogurt machines they have one, and they have to clean it out after each flavor. Also, the flavors come in gross little premade bags which is not appealing. I had a pins colada mixer and it was really good. However, I was sad to see the lady use the frozen fruit, because they also have fresh fruit. Logic please? Anyway, after waiting forever my yogurt was amazing. However, my friend had a coffee mixer and she said it tasted terrible and she couldn’t eat it. I tried it and ot tasted fruity, which makes me think the lady didn’t clean the machine right. But id be in a rush too, because the machine takes so long to clean and there was a line.

I was intrigued to try this yogurt because of their marketing displayed behind the counter. It states that the non-​fat has zero fat and is only 100 calories (for the small size). They also sell what looks like a delicious low-​fat chocolate shake.
I first asked for a chocolate shake, then I saw the server pull some sort of brown colored bag out of the freezer. Before she opened it, I realized that this shake was not going to be made fresh; instead it was a pre-​made chocolate mix that was going to be combined with the yogurt. I stopped her and told her I changed my mind. Maybe just a plain yogurt and fruit would be better. Unfortunately, the fruit selection is all frozen. There is no fresh fruit. To me, frozen fruit is much sweeter and sometimes gooey. So, I opted for the plain small yogurt. Before I ordered it, I asked the server how much sugar was in a small cup. The answer: 19 grams. A little too much for me. So, after all of that, I only ordered a bottled water. Am I lame or what?

Simply put: Really tasty but pricey. You almost can’t go wrong with yogurt mixed with fruit. Their yogurt is very good and they offer both a low fat and no fat versions.
Definitely worth trying and if you buy a large and share it with someone it’s a better deal. However it can add up quickly.
Incidentally, they fill up the cup and it looks like you are getting a lot however they swirl it and it leaves the center part hollow.

Tasty frozen yogurt. You pick the fresh fruit flavor you want and they mix it with the yogurt. After that you can chose a topping. I got a small mango yogurt with blackberry on top. It was good… but kind of expensive. After I paid my $ 4 I left wondering why I would have spent so much. It was very good and would go again if I had the cash.

I introduced my friend to her first taste of mochi here! I seem to introduce her to a lot foods (it’s not her fault her husband is not into trying new foods). I was so excited to see mochi here – love those little morsels!
There were a lot of toppings one could have with their yogurt – fresh fruit, chocolate chips, etc. I had the plain low fat vanilla froyo with coconut and mochi. Very good quality yogurt. I think what’s special about this place is that they will blend fruit into the yogurt or make it into a smoothie for you. I didn’t feel too adventurous that afternoon (long day at Soldier Field – go Bears!) so I’m going to have to try a smoothie or a blend another time. But so far, so good. I’m a fan.

Awesome forget ice cream this is the good stuff. My favorite is plain low fat vanilla froyo with strawberry pinapple and kiwi. The yogurt’s texture is creamy and flavorful not to mention it has probiotics :) try it out next time your in Yorktown.
