In Shape fitness studios are remodeling the now defunct Apple Grocery. My wife has purchased a monthly membership there and I personally will look forward to seeing an efficient, customer friendly establishment in place of the cold, unfriendly Apple. Good riddance, Apple Grocery…

This place is unbelievable. Not only are the prices absolutely ridiculous, the cashier just assumed I didn’t want my change and just kept it. When I said something about it she ripped the receipt out of my hand and acted like I was asking her to wipe my butt. If they don’t figure out some things out and get that expired stuff that is incorrectly priced off the shelf I give it a year before they end like all the businesses in Lodi who figured that they can rip us off.

Last stop Grocery Shopping today… forgot some things…
Green Cabbage $ 0.69lb
Deardorff Organics Kale $ 3.59bunch
A lot of people have been recommending Kale for it’s nutritional value… Calcium
and Fiber. BUT… not at these prices!!!
Napa Cabbage $ 0.89lb

4 stars because of the QUALITY of produce and meat/​seafood counter. I don’t really care if the service is great or if the cashier’s are nice or not. Frankly, sometimes we don’t need the small talk in our lives anyway!
If you are looking for a better meat/​seafood counter & produce selection, go over to Apple Marketplace.

I used to come to Apple Market almost everyday for lunch for like an 8 month streak!
They have this fancy deli section where ladies in hair-​nets make you sandwiches, You just fill out a little slip that make you select meat bread cheese veggies and chips * I used to get veggie sandwich or turkey on ciabatta. .. and it was only $ 3.50!

They have an awesome selection of organic and/​or local grown sodas, juices, teas & wines too.
The gals working there are always fast and pleasant, I got a free cookie or two out of em :)

Yuck. Went there today to get picnic fixings for the family.
My husbands deli sandwich gave him food poisoning! The tomatoes were slimy and the turkey on his sandwich had two fruit flies on it! Disgusting. The worker said they are owned by the people who own Centro Mart, now out of business, and they were planning on shutting down that store too. You can tell. Quality is lacking, never ever ever again!

I don’t know why this place exists. In a world full of Save Mart’s, Safeways and Raley’s, an independent grocery store has to have a lot more going on for it than being «not a chain store.» Apple doesn’t have anything special about it. I only come here when I am in the area and need a quick deep-​friend burrito from their deli (which DO taste good). However, avoid anything that is not friend from their deli. I know some of the workers in the deli who admit they are instructed to use expired meat and cheese, and confess they would never eat there.
The prices at Apple Market are high. Hardly anything is on sale.

This place has gone downhill and now it smells bad too!

Took my brother shopping here because he lives nearby. I am his representative payee because he is mentally disabled. I selected this store because of proximity, it wasn’t a big chain so expected prices to be lower, and it was a small store. My brother will have an anxiety attack in a large store. I let him select items so he can be part of the experience. This is why I gave it ONE STAR:
1. ITEMS ARE OVERPRICED AND YOU HAVE TO BE CAUTIOUS OF EXPIRED FOODS and QUALITY
Loaf of bread — $ 3.99, Milk — $ 4.59, Bologna — Almost $ 3 (huh?)
He kept putting things in the basket and after reading the expiration dates, I had to put them back. Small packs of generic cheese for $ 1.99 — $ 3.99, and Tillamook cheese $ 5.75 to $ 7.25! So much for enabling him to shop for himself.
2. CLERKS — NO ATTENTION TO DETAIL
I picked up a few things for myself so I had it separated in the basket. Top front area was mine, the basket area was my brother’s things. Two transactions and keep separate. Paper for him (forgot our bags!), plastic for me. Immediately, the cashier begins grabbing items from both places. He apologized and I was o.k. with that. Later it would be the baggers turn to ignore my request and bag everything in plastic. When I corrected him, he put the plastic bags INSIDE the paper bag. So, much for helping the environment.
3. NO CHECKS ACCEPTED FROM MENTALLY DISABLED PEOPLE
So, I paid for my items with my ATM card, and SSI only allows checking accounts for Representative payee accounts so I have to write a check for my brother’s items. The bank is a well-​know credit union with a 24 – 7 answering service to verify funds. The manager is called to authorize the check. He is about to sign it (circles things & makes notes). Then he takes a look at my brother and becomes noticeably uncomfortable. He decides he needs to call the bank. O.K. whatever! My brother’s attention span is shortening and he wants to take his groceries to the car. I placate him until the manager comes back. He tells me he «can’t get through» the bank. WTH? A 24 – 7 popular credit union? He yells to me as he’s walking away, «Don’t you have a credit card you can use?» OMG! I couldn’t argue with this insensitive man at the risk of upsetting my brother. I ended up paying with my debit card. When I got home later I found his statement about not reaching the bank to be untrue! The system wasn’t down and there WAS an option for merchants to verify funds.
So, to sum it up — - I WILL NEVER, EVER shop at this overpriced – expired items on the shelf – insensitive/​incompetent staffed – store! Also, the manager there needs to have some customer service training.

Good for running in for a few things. Always check expiration dates on everything.

Ha. I only came here for lemons and left.
This place is hugeeee! There was one cashier working because it was 4^th of July.
Oh and it’s walking distance to my aunts new pad.

They have Harris Ranch steaks! I purchased 2 T-​bones @ $ 8.99/lbs. Anybody know of other places to purchase Harris Ranch steaks?

Oh thank god! I hate apple market! i have been saying it for years! i used to live right across the street and i would never do my major grocery shopping there! Never! Everything is low quality and over priced! the younger staff are all very humble, However the older staff such as the woman that works in the deli (you know who you are) Horrible! It feel so good to finally be apple to say something about this place. Its called apple market and I swear to you, every apple is the worst. a fuli apple from apple market taste like crap! but an apple from the gas station counter, tastes amazing! If i needed to make a recipe, I could never find all the ingredients there. So glad I live by Trader Joe’s and Safeway now :)

UPDATE — FALL 2013:
I was SO GLAD when the news came down that this place was closing up. Actually, it serves them right for the lousy and atrocious customer service that they have given to the community over the years. Lodi is much better off without this store.

This place is a joke! I called to find some special steaks and spoke with a girl that said the butcher would be contacting me but his English was not that good. She called back almost immediately and told me that the steaks I was looking for were there. When I asked about the grade she was told that they were ‘choice’ steaks but I was looking for ‘prime’. She tries to feed me this line that they can cut them in such a way to make them prime. HAA! That took some guts to try and dump that crap on me. For the record, you can’t take a choice grade meat and find a fancy way to cut it to make it prime grade — no way, no how. The grade has everything to do with the fat marbling in the muscle fiber. So, I call back to speak with the store manager whose English was atrocious. As I am trying to share my concerns about how they are lying to customers, she quickly tells me in a very thick Asian accent that she can’t talk anymore because she is so busy and has to go. Guess what… I won’t be buying food from them anymore. How do they like those ‘apples’?!?

I’ve gotta take the time and send props to a local supermarket that can still hang with the big boys.
Sure they’re more pricey than going to Food 4 Less or Save Mart but it’s got a lot more personality too. If you live in north Lodi then Apple beats the hell out of driving several miles to Kettleman for groceries, and is ideal when you ‘just need that loaf of bread’. They also have a great selection of wine and a very friendly, helpful staff.
