Alexander’s Tree Care

I seldom write reviews but the professional service we received by Alexander’s Tree Care to remove a huge Coastal Redwood, grind out the stump, trim our trees & our overhanging neighbors trees both front & rear of our house was done so thoroughly & professionally that it warranted a great review. Greg, a certified arborist, gave me his recommendations and an honest price. They showed up on time & it was apparent that they were a skilled professional team. I would definitely recommend them for all your tree needs. What a difference it makes having your trees pruned by a professional.

I originally had an appointment with another company. Took the day off only to be told that the other company blew off my appointment. I contacted Greg and Brenda with Alexander Tree service. I explained that I was getting solar soon and wanted my tree cut before the solar installation. They worked with my schedule and did a great job. The crew was professional and clean. I would recommend them for Tree care service and intend on calling them first for future tree cutting needs

We have used Alexander’s for three trees in the last 15 years. Two removals (a willow and a eucalyptus) and one major pruning (a palm). Their prices are very reasonable and they do a great job. Greg and his crew are always on time and they leave the yard very clean. They even make sure there is no tree debris in our neighbors’ yards. Greg is very knowable about trees and the diseases that affect them. Our yard is much healthier now that we have had our trees professionally removed and pruned.

We hired Greg and his team to thin the canopy of an 80-​foot tall eucalyptus tree to include the removal of deadwood and crowed branches in my back yard. He’s very knowledgeable about what was needed to make it right. He guarantee that I would like the look when it was done, he was wrong… I loved it!
What a difference it makes having your trees pruned by a professional. They showed up on time, worked diligently throughout the day job. It was a pleasure watching them work. I will absolutely be using them again for future pruning jobs, and I would recommend them to any of my friends with big pruning jobs.

This is the second time I’ve used Alexander’s. I needed 5 trees trimmed at my rental property in Livermore. Greg went by and took a look, came back with a fair price, as usual, and i gave him the green light. (He is a bit backlogged, but that tends to be a good sign.) Showed up on time, trimmed everything, cleaned up and there you go.
I had asked if they could skin the palm trees and he had warned that if they don’t just pull off, they weren’t going to cut them off. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were able to take care of that too. Tenant is happy, neighbor is happy (No more palm leaves and seeds in his pool.), and the trees look great!

I asked Greg to remove my overgrown cherry tree. He was very knowledgeable and courteous. The whole experience was great and I highly recommend his service.

We recently hired Greg and his crew to cut back a very large, overgrown tree in our backyard. He was prompt and professional. He was also the only one (we had a few other companies come out for bids so we could compare) who noticed that there was another tree that was dying and needed to be removed. He helped the permit process go quickly and smoothly, and the city inspector who came out agreed that the tree was a danger and needed to be removed.
Greg and his crew came out promptly and did all of the work quickly, efficiently, and left no mess behind. His pricing was also very reasonable. I highly recommend this company and look forward to using them in the future!

Greg and his crew did a fantastic job. I chose to work with Alexander’s Tree Care after having gotten bids from 4 other companies, because I liked Greg’s assessment of my property’s needs and his strategy for trimming several of my more valuable trees. I have one massive Valley Oak in my backyard and several very large Valley and Coast Live Oaks surrounding a historic building elsewhere on my property. His bid for the job came in lower than the other bidders, which was also important. His crew was very professional, pleasant and helpful. They showed up on time, worked diligently throughout the two-​day job and left my property cleaner than they had found it. It was a pleasure watching them work. I will absolutely be using them again for future pruning jobs, and I would whole-​heartedly recommend them to any of my friends with big pruning jobs.

I am more than pleased with the work Greg and his crew did for us. They did exactly what we asked, were on time for both the quote and the work. They entire crew was respectful and pleasant and the clean up was amazing! They made it look BETTER than when they arrived. They were carful of our plants, our watering system and our pool. They came highly recommended by our neighbors and others in the business and did not disappoint!

They have pruned our trees twice and done an excellent job at a good price. Their disposal and cleanup is also much better than other tree jobs we see in our neighborhood. Finally the owner is friendly and honest.
We have found our tree service for the life of our trees.

To me, this is a frightening company.
I hired them to cut down a 20 ft. evergreen in my yard, where I used to live. I told Greg there was a wasp nest at the base of the tree. The owner and I stood by the tree and discussed the tree, k the wasps, and the project.
When the crew arrived, I looked out in time to see them setting up to cut down a huge Monterrey pine on the opposite side of the yard from the one the owner and I discussed and agree on. It was 120 feet tall, a heritage tree and would have required special permission from the city, and cost thousands, even if I had wanted it removed.
I ran out there and they moved 40 feet east, on the other side of the yard, to the correct tree.
I had to leave for work.
When I returned the correct tree was down, and all the ivy, and all the other plantings in my yard were black. Dead. In about three hours.
It was appalling.
I called the owner, who denied that his crew had done anything to my soil. I was thinking gasoline was poured on my yard, a 20X 25 feet plot, to kill the wasps.
Greg said it was the «new» sunlight on my yard. Remember, Ivy is very hard to kill. This was so insane as to defy comment.
I also told him his crew had been about to cut down a huge Monterrey Pine on the opposite side of the yards from the one he and I discussed. He told me they were just looking at the huge (wrong) tree. I asked him why they had all their equipment at the base of the tree.
Now, remember, that my yard got sunlight all the time, just not where the shadow of the tree was at any given moment during the day. My yard faces south, the tree was in the middle of the yard, plenty of sunlight — my roses grew. Everything turned black, 2 – 3 hours.
I called the Country Agriculture investigation unit. They sent an investigator to talk to the owner; she never came by my house or asked me any questions other than what I said on the recording when I left her a message.
The owner and she decided that cutting down the tree meant the yard got sunlight for the first time, and hence all turned black in that 2 – 3 hour period. The country agent called me and left a message that it was the sunlight. This was insane. The owner lied. I failed to understand how the county Ag investigator could be so incredibly stupid. I left her a message that she should loose here job.
Eventually I had to pull our everything in that part of my yard, and re-​mediate the soil, since nothing would grow there, even though now there was not the slim Evergreen that blocked the sun for a few minutes each day, .as if a minute hand were moving around my tree.
And, by the way, all these glowing accolades? How many owners get their friends to write reviews, or use a dummy email address?

I’ve been using Alexander’s Tree Care for about 10 yeasr. They are great to work with, very knowledgeable and the service is spot on. They have quite a loyal following so it’s unfortuante that there are some less stellar reviews here. It’s not what we’ve experienced at all.

Alexander Tree Care has been trimming my trees for many years now, and I have always been pleased with their work. I used to get bids from others, but once when I got another service, I was not pleased. Now I just call Greg for an estimate and am always happy with his advice and bid. We have quite a few trees, both fruit and shade.

I heard great things about Alexander’s so I called for an estimate. Super quick on coming out and felt confident in his abilities, therefore I called to hire him. He said he would call back within a week to come back to get things started. Well 5 calls/​messages and an email later almost two months have gone by and nothing. Since we had discussed hiring him I felt bad moving on. Upset because the permit process will take a month and we were hoping to get the tree removed and new grass before summer. Wish you better luck than me!

On time and they do a great job of customer satisfaction! Prices are good and they are the only tree service company I use from now on! Good job Greg and Crew!

Alexander Tree has been caring for our trees for about 10 years now and they’ve always done a fantastic job. These guys are genuine tree experts and I can’t recommend them highly enough.

I had a great experience with this company. Greg came out and took a look around and told me why or why he would not recommend what I was asking for. I appreciated his honesty, and the fact that he was suggesting the lower quoted option made me feel he was even more honest. They showed up on time, the guys were nice, and they did a great job. It was crazy how they could scale the trees! They cleaned up and left no mess. I had them come back a few weeks later to do some other work I hadn’t thought I wanted done the first time around, and they did a great job on that, too. They planted a tree for me, and Greg was honest and told me he didn’t like the trees at the nursery and said he thought I should wait for better trees even though it would take more time, so I agreed. He picked out a great tree, exactly the kind I wanted, and it looks great and is even budding already. He also suggested a lot of different kinds he thought would work well for us so I could research them all before I chose. All of the work was quite a bit less than I had anticipated, too, although I didn’t get any other quote but from them. He did recommend Swanson’s Landscaping for yard work, and I did NOT like them.
