Cranwell Resort, Spa and Golf Club

I think this place is beautiful! I have gotten a couple of massages here over the past couple of years and I have loved them! I really enjoy the atmosphere of the massage rooms and even the women’s locker room. They’re always fully stocked of everything you could possibly need. There is a quiet room where you sit in a robe and sandals and just simply relax, with a tea or a lemon water. It’s the most perfect mini getaway I have had in a very long time. I love the complimentary shower products they have out for you as well. It does get a little expensive though, but I think it’s absolutely worth it!

We had a wonderful weekend. Dinner at Sloan’s the first night and the Mansion the second night. Wonderful treatments. Totally feel pampered. A great choice.

I stayed here for a spa getaway. I was given an enormous suite with beautiful autumn views. My spa treatments were wonderful. Both the spa and hotel staff were pleasant and knowledgable. I hope to come back soon.

I bought a golf package for my guy for his birthday. I had stayed at the resort on business in the past and loved it. Everything was wonderful except our dining experience. Clearly there is a real issue with the staff at the fine dining restaurant. We were very uncomfortable with the dynamics and overall feel of our dining experience. There was also a lot of confusion as to whether or not we could dine outside. Staffing was definitely the issue. Would recommend dining off site.

Sadly it is time to leave the beautiful cranwell inn.
My cousin and I spent my 50^th birthday weekend here and it was everything I needed and more. The staff of the whole property were hands down a 10. I would have given it a 5 star rating but our room had a smell of stale cigarettes. It might have been a smoking room at one time. Also the crowd was more senior citizen than we expected. The capital steps show was hilarious!!!

This is a great place. It is big. You can see some wear and tear. Great for family with young kids. We are repeat customers. We usually go there in April. We like their Breakfast/​Brunch. Good food. Good service. We will return.

Founders building is not up to what I expected after viewing website. Stains on carpet room 529 as well as worn out and dirty carpeting on the stairs. We must have been in the family building as young children were running through the hall each morning and evening. Breakfast buffet on Saturday was overpriced at $ 28 per person and of poor quality. For example, the bacon was of the cheapest quality, home fries were hard and cold, frankly, just gross. And lastly, the pool, we had to sit on the grass as there were no available seats, and the grass was infested with ants.

I’ll give it plus stars for it’s location and the overall friendliness. I’m taking points away for old, run down rooms and facility, over priced for what you get an inconsistency. We ordered the same breakfast, three days in a row and got something different every day. On the third day we asked for no potatoes and extra fruit (because the spuds were consistently raw) and we wound up getting no fruit and extra potatoes, lol. This place needs a major retooling, not worth what you pay for IMO.

We stayed here for two nights while our house was being worked on. The property is beautiful, and I can appreciate the history behind the buildings. However, the rooms were really nothing to write home about, especially for the price. The pool and spa are very nice, and Sloane’s tavern onsite is a nice casual (and family friendly) option to grab something to eat. Overall, it was ok, but again, NOT worth the price. I’ve stayed at nicer hotels for half the price.

I stayed at the Cranwell Resort for an industry conference recently. It is a very nice setting. Sprawling grounds and an historic building. I was given a very large suite which included a bedroom, a full living room with a couch and side chairs and a kitchenette. The mansion is very nice. If there you should stop in to see it. Overall, I would recommend this location for a nice event. I expect they must cater for weddings and other private parties. The food was also very good. However, they had included grilled steaks for the conference attendees. They did not have sufficient grills or staff to prepare them. They couldn’t keep up, it was getting dark and my steak was basically raw. The only negative I could say. Otherwise, nice place.

This place was absolutely fantastic. Great service, great facility, and wonderful grounds. It was a joy to walk around and take in all of the ambiance. Our room was well appointed on a corner with a balcony and overlooked the tennis courts with the valley in the distance. very comfy bed and a nice jetted tub in the unit.
The spa facility was great. The use of the steam room and sauna, free of charge, was a nice perk of being a guest there. I would definitely stay there again and would advise you to do the same. Enjoy!

I had my wedding here just a few weeks ago, and we had 200 guests stay for the entire weekend. Everyone from the waiters to the wedding coordinator (amazing Megan) were so friendly and accomodating. They all just had a fantastic attitude and were so wonderful to work with. The entire weekend was beautiful and guests continued to comment on how amazing the place was– one guest is now planning another even there! Our guests got to enjoy meals with us and play volleyball, tennis, go swimming, or go to the spa– it was like a mini vacation. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone who might ask! We plan to come back every year on our anniversary.

This is about Sunday Brunch. Cranwell has been on our bucket list to enjoy a golf /​spa weekend. We were disappointed with ourselves for not taking the plunge and indulging in a stay when we came for Film Night at Tanglewood. Instead, we stayed at the Black Swan Inn… which turned out to be a excellent choice.
Because we were in the area, we were looking forward to «trying out» Cranwell by going to Sunday brunch. Expecting 5-​star treatment, we were shocked and appalled by the low-​level of customer service.
When we arrived we asked for a table outside on the deck. When they seated us — inside — 5 minutes later, this request was not acknowledged. We were relieved, however, because as we waited, a young woman from outside approached the manager saying someone came in to get her coffee and never came back. This was her second time asking about the coffee. We should have seen this as a sign.
From the hostess, to the servers, to the bussers, we received little attention — having to ask for coffee four different times (including having to remind the server why he walked away from our table bc he forgot) — and they seemed far more interested in talking with each other than paying attention to the guests. We saw many guests getting their own OJ and coffee and flagging down the wait staff with no avail. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that this is a BUFFET brunch, therefore the servers only responsibilities were coffee, OJ and plate clearing.
The food was fine. Not an extravagant buffet by any stretch, particularly for $ 25 a person. (Though I will give a shout out to the omelet maker, as he seemed to be the only one taking his job seriously.)
We have officially taken Cranwell off our bucket list. If their customer service was so poor for a simple buffet brunch, we can’t imagine paying the exorbitant prices for a resort stay.

This review is for the golf course. We had eagerly taken the nearly 90 minute ride up here in order to play what Golf Digest had rated as a 4.5 star course, in the beautiful Berkshires. All I can say is that Golf Digest has zero credibility with us now when it comes to course ratings. This is a place stuck in time, a short semi-​mountain course with small greens with breaks that make your local putt putt proud. Because of the pitch, the greens are grainy and slow, yet many shots will run thru, a result of the underlying soil conditions and maintenance practices. The bunkers are laden with beautiful sand, yet were very poorly groomed. Playing on a Sunday afternoon as we did, I don’t know if this is a reflection on the groundskeepers or the playing clientele, which seemed to consist of a kitschy collection of septagenarians that would be right at home in a Catskills resort. The only saving grace was we played only $ 25 each to play as we had our GolfNewEngland subscription discount. That is about what it’s worth. Had we payed rack rates, we would have demanded our money back. Needless to say, we won’t be back.

This is a review of the lodgings. I have stayed in a lot of average to excellent hotels.
Our room at the Cranwell was nice enough, say for your average Holiday Inn. And if the price was in that range, I would have been happy. However, the price of the room was more in line with a 4-​star hotel.
The room itself was stuffy and in need of a remodel.
The only redeeming feature is the fitness amenities and well equipped locker rooms.

Plastic laminate on the hallway walls for over $ 600. I feel like a fool for paying so much. Cracks and missing tiles in the bathroom. This place needs a major overhaul. I won’t be back until that happens.
$ 15 resort fee? What is they for? You have to pay for any classes at the spa. Guess it’s for the gym that didn’t have enough equipment. Outdoor pool is pathetic too.
Extremely disappointed. Feel totally ripped off.

I wanted to like the Cranwell. I really did. My family held a wedding there and we had a good time. However, there were a few things missing from making it a great time.
It was indeed, mediocre and outdated. The employees there were exquisite, with incredible charm and kindness. However, once they were paid their money, things took a turn for the (much, much, much) worse.
I have attended many weddings in the past and will attend many weddings in the future. When people go to these weddings, they eat, drink, and be merry. Once the reception is over, they are merry in different places and sometimes that place is a hotel room.
We were in a suite in a place where we asked multiple times to reserve blocks to ensure that we wouldn’t bother other guests. Despite our pleas, the rooms were booked to other people. While I am sure we were louder than typical guests, we were not hosting an all-​night dance party. It was just 18 people recapping a wonderful night of celebrating.
Security came up twice to let us know that we were being too loud for one of the guests in the hotel. The security guard was a pleasant older man and we apologized and promised to keep it down. After that, the father of the bride came upstairs to say hello and hang out with everyone. At this point, more than half of the room had cleared out to go to bed and call it a night. There were five people talking at moderate volumes (max) discussing the night. There was a knock on the door and a member of the MA Police told us to disperse or there would be consequences. Luckily, we are not a confrontational bunch and we all went out way. But that is not what I want this review to be about.
We gave the Cranwell tens of thousands of dollars to stay at their place. The families paid for countless rounds of golf, spa treatments, hotel rooms, and an ENTIRE WEDDING. We asked to have rooms blocked off for the wedding party, as we knew many people would be staying local for the event. However, once the wedding and reception was over, it seemed that we were no longer important in The Cranwell management’s eyes. Again, while we may have been louder than a typical hotel room, EVERYONE knew this was a wedding suite that we had rented out. I cannot imagine this was the first time The Cranwell had an excited room of people who were celebrating a wedding.
Anyway, this is my takeaway from The Cranwell. It is a very nice place with very nice people working there. It is a lovely golf course with a nice, but dated hotel to accommodate any guests. However, they are always about the bottom line and will not go the «extra mile» for their guests. Was it a nice place to stay for a weekend with friends and family? Yes. Would I recommend this place to someone who is looking to plan a wedding here? HELL NO!!! I will place this review on The Knot and any other wedding website to avoid the hardships we encountered. The happiest day of some people’s lives should not be ruined by a few grumpy guests who did not invest one iota as much. Just a SHAME!!!

This is a review of the spa & gym facilities. They have separate changing areas for men & women. In the women’s area, they have a hot tub w/​jets, sauna, & steam room. There is also a quiet room where you can relax & drink tea. And their yoga/​workout room is shaped like an octagon & has mirrors on 4 sides, which allow you to see yourself from all angles.
And be sure to end your night with a drink inside the mansion. As you walk in, bear to the left into a dining room & then on the right, you’ll see a «secret» alcove bar. It’s a fun place to hide out & the drink prices are cheaper than expected.

This place has a sort of shabby feel despite that it is supposed to be classy. I am willing to re-​review if I ever go back in warm months, but in late November the setting is still beautiful but there isn’t much to do (with no snow). So, I had to focus on the hotel itself. Our room was spacious with a living area, bathroom, and bedroom with king bed. And the bed was comfortable enough.
But little things are lacking attention. Like the toilet seat was worn out. That’s kind of gross. The walls were scuffed and the carpet a dingy brown. I’m just saying, if its so expensive, there should be care taken to these things. The heater blows loudly and the blinds and curtains are a bit frayed.
I was particularly unimpressed by the mansion which was the only place open late (until 10) on the premises. We arrived in the evening and needed a little snack. The bartender was not so great and what we ordered was just lacking in general (mezze plate did not include naan as described, a couple greasy artichoke hearts and tiny scoops of hummus and olives for a steep $ 12). I sound like I’m complaining but this was the only vegan option so it didn’t really satisfy.
I am giving it 3 stars because the staff were nice, the fireplaces were warm, the veggie burger in the Tavern was pretty good, and our family liked their experience. The surrounding towns of Lee and Lenox are cute.

Classy old world New England resort nestled among Berkshires.
I’ve attended events, tastings, & parties here but have not stayed at the resort.
The architecture and style is grand. Lavish but not overstated. The resort is in impeccable shape, immaculate & no detail has been overlooked.
A conservative yet gracious staff anticipate their guests expectations — a real treat to be on the receiving end!
Always a pleasant and pampered exsperience.
