Canyon Ranch In Lenox

The most luxurious facial treatment who use the most amazing products with a plan for your skin after you leave and rejoin the real life again. One of my friends recommended trying out this spa because of the products and then the experience. I’m so glad I did.

Interesting that the Unilocal 2-​star rating is labeled «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» I have experienced better and it was on my first two visits to Canyon Ranch in Lenox. It’s a beautiful property but what set it apart from other luxury lodgings was the fabulous customer service. You spend a lot (a whole lot!) to stay here but that was always money well spent as I felt pampered, respected, and rejuvenated before. Something changed when we made visit #3 in April, 2015, and not for the better. Classes are crowded, 2 spiritual sessions requested that were still online and in the catalog were no longer offered, food allergies were not noted or honored, an accident on a treadmill was not attended to and few people on staff even smiled! Again, it was still a lovely setting and some sessions and classes were terrific-​try to book something spiritual and don’t miss the drumming class-​but don’t expect to be wowed by your customer service experience. Most alarmingly, if you DO have a complaint, don’t expect great management response; our letter after our disappointing trip resulted in an insulting (and almost 2 month later!) response from the Lenox GM and a subsequent letter sent to the Tuscon CEO elicited no response at all-​no phone call, no letter, not even an email. Sadly, Canyon Ranch in Lenox is not what it used to be and that is a shame.

This is an amazing place! This was my fourth trip for four days with a large group. I now call it my «annual tune up» except I try to go twice a year if I can. There are numerous exercise and yoga classes every hour on the hour from 7am until 5pm, cooking demonstrations, lectures, outdoor activities like long hikes and bike rides, and a full spa.

Instructors are always on time and end on time. They don’t tolerate lateness.
Music in pool and elsewhere is always upbeat invigorating and perfect volumn
Instructors knowledgeable and funny
Outdoor activities are numerous.
Library is an oasis
Café has been renovated and more formal although everyone wears workout clothes everywhere
Rooms are nice. TV is big.
There are little touches that show this whole place has the female in mind
Amenities are good quality
Self service laundry faculty is another great touch.
Love the to-​go lunch they give you the day you leave

Mom and I just returned from our annual visit to Canyon Ranch in Lenox! We had visited last year around the same time. It is beautiful to watch the leaves change color and to enjoy the end of summer. The weather was beautiful, in the mid 70’s and beautiful sunny day. We took advantage of it by going on the canoeing excursion only 10 minutes drive from Canyon Ranch. The instructors took care of everything for us and we had a wonderful time.
The service is world class and excellent. From the moment you check in, you feel welcome and at ease. I was worried at first because our room was close to housekeeping and one of the main hallways. I am a light sleeper and suffer from insomnia. Well, I didn’t hear a peep during our stay. The room is provided with a white noise machine to aid in sleep and the fan is strong! Great HD TV in the room we used to watch Yankees/​Red Sox but honestly didn’t spend too much time in the room. There is always so much to do at Canyon Ranch. It is truly an embarassment of riches because you are trying to pick between so many great activities. The spa is amazing. A few different types of steam rooms, whirpool hot tubs, showers, and of course a very relaxing massage!
Mona (visiting instructor from Tuscon) was wonderful with the pool workout. The fitness instructors were wonderful for Cardio Circuit and kept us on our toes. We had a great time in the bookbinding class with Elizabeth Kim and brought home our learning from that — we are continuing with our projects! Also the Collage: Art for the Soul class was inspiring.
The food is wonderful. Honestly I wish I could get the meals sent home to me because they are just that good. I was so sad to leave Canyon Ranch! Can’t wait to return next year.

I LOVE this place, now been five times here with my family and once in Tucson with gal pals. I love the setting in the Berkshires, the warmth of the staff, the cleanliness of all rooms and equipment; the classes for exercising inside, activities during the day outside such as morning walks and hikes and painting and canoeing, not enough time in the day, plus mostly good lectures – one so-​so but hey. There’s also good food, gotten so much better with the new chef, gorgeous views, warm friendly guests who say hello and are eager to share laughs and whines during tougher classes like spinning. The town is charming if you have time. Only other criticism – not enough to do at night but we’re usually so exhausted we don’t mind and in summer we go to see the Sheakespeare performances across the road. We can’t wait to come back, great for family celebrations, reunions, visits with friends, gals’ weekends. Last time we even saw more men! I can’t say enough good things about everything here. Only wish I could stay longer and that iwas less costly so I could come more! And we never thought we were «spa people.» Ha! Those facials and pedicures, divine. We always hate to leave since we feel we’ve died and gone to heaven.

My grandparents have been taking my family here for a summer vacation for years. It is such a pristine, happy place! We go as a family and eat breakfast and dinner together in the fabulous dining room but spend the day participating in our own classes and services. The massages here are stellar and the fitness classes are really fun! There are no cell phones allowed in most areas so it is nice and quiet and just very serene. I will say that the «healthy meals» aren’t really that healthy although they are nicely portion controlled :) Definitely a great little retreat from real life!

Ok if you are looking to chill, hike, heal, have healthy fun, challenge yourself, canoe, kayak, do the gym deal or checkout the arts and culture of the Berkshires this is the place. The Doctors, massage therapists, energy healers, nutritionists and even metaphysical folks here are top notch and all assembled in one big beautiful building. An old English Cottage (can you say Mansion. a’la Downton Abby!) surrounded by state of the art five star modern hotel and spa complex. My Dad and I have done most of the activities they are the best and have great staff and a lot of the very informative lectures and talks… still weary of the ropes course but until I see a Black Lab or at least a Collie on it I am gonna take a pass!
Don’t let the price sway ya because you will be comparing apples to oranges if you are looking at anywhere else in the area. All the food is included not to mention top notch Latte’s, juices and shakes so it is actually a deal believe it or not when you cost out the price of food and transpo etc elsewhere… they pick you up t the airport or train station but there is no alcohol which is sweet cause it makes the crowd mellower than a rowdy cocktail crowd.
There is something for everyone and if your like a lot of our friends it is a great place for recovering folks as they have in house 12 step meetings for all kinds of recovering folks so you don’t ever need leave the campus unless you go hiking but they drive you, guide you and fix ya if anything happens… it is top notch and really a one of kind place… Alcoholics, family members, over eaters, gamblers etc all the 12 steppers meet every night at 5 in a discrete location ya gotta ask for it or checkout the brochure they give you on check in. If you have never been to a 12 step meeting thisis a good place to check it out even if your not an alcoholic or addict it seems everyone knows at least one. So this is a good place to experience it.
But be sure to check out the culture desk too they have great tix to Tanglewood, Jacobs Pillow, Shakspare and Company and all the local theaters… they even drive you there and back for free! We kinda felt like rock stars at Tanglewood cause they drove us in on a private road like we were the Maestro himself! They even had lawn chairs and a snack for us… wicked cool! Oh and even though I am a service dog and welcome everywhere they do accept doggies with open arms and give great treats…(to the pups don’t miss the great carrots they are organic and come with a cool belly rub! Hehe) but it would be best if they were well behaved and please pick up the doggy poop cause we like to Run on the lawn and I hate getting that stuff on my paws! Heheh

Try ‘Beaming’ class, skip program advising, and the chocolate chip cookies are delicious!

Fantastic place for a relaxing weekend getaway! I have gone several times and look forward to my next trip! It’s an easy 2ish hour drive from Boston and a true oasis away from the city. The employees are wonderful and welcoming. The food is amazingly delicious, organic, and much of it is local. Everything is well portioned so that you can maintain a healthy diet and there is plenty of fresh fruit to snack on through out your day. The packages give a good sized allowance for services and there are also plenty of free activities that you can sign up for. The massages cannot be beat. You will not find a better massage anywhere else. Lastly, the indoor pool is gorgeous with relaxing music playing in the background.
This resort is definitely pricey. I always check online for any specials and/​or book during their off season to save.
Highly recommended!

Things I love:
— Being picked up in a comfy van stocked with a light lunch, water and fruit. The ride through the mountains is serene and the driver points out places you might be interested in visiting.
— Check in is a seated meeting with a friendly staff member who quickly checks you in, gives you a Canyon Ranch t-​Shirt, gym bag and water bottle.
— Arriving at a nicely decorated room that whispers, «Relaxation» There’s a comfy chair and ottoman by the window, a huge comfortable bed with the most amazing pillows I’ve ever slept on, and a huge tub for soaking, although I did plenty of that in the spa.
— Dining options: I love the French Bistro or Café maybe a little more the formal dining room. If you sit by the windows you can stare out over the Berkshires and pretend it’s a countryside view of the South of France.
— The dining room staff is very sweet. It does not feel like a stuffy 5 star restaurant although some of the dishes look and taste like 5 star quality.
— The indoor pool with it’s relaxing music, gorgeous views and hot tub — very relaxing!
— The spa with it’s steam rooms, sauna, hot tubs and more gorgeous views — extremely relaxing! You can just spend a few hours before and after a treatment in the spa and truly enjoy the experience.
— Activities — Although I didn’t try all of them, I was thrilled at the options! Hiking, rowing, paddle board yoga?!? Nature painting? I wish some were not nearly $ 200, however.
— Walking into town — I only did it once but next time I might do this once a day — there are so many cool restaurants and shops. It may divert you from the «healthy» part of your Canyon Ranch experience, but a little deviance is sooo much fun!
— The absolute best part of Canyon Ranch? Lunch and Learn and Dinner Demonstrations! I felt like I was on a professional cooking show each time and enjoying everything the chef made! It’s a great opportunity to meet other people, gather some great recipes, and ask for expert advice in culinary creations! I went to every single one of these throughout my stay!
What I do not love:
— I feel like the price is a bit off for what you get. It’s serene, healthy, and all-​inclusive, but the price paid for a 3 night stay would’ve got my husband and I a 5 night stay in a balcony suite on a cruise to the Bahamas! If I ever return, it will be in their off season and even then, they would have to offer an additional discount in order for us to afford it.
— After dinner can be a bit dull. There were movies or a live pianist, otherwise you can head out for the night — free transportation but tickets to events can be very pricey.
— Meet with one of their personal planners — it will get you motivated to try something new. I made the mistake of waiting and missed out on some great activities.
That being said, I will still consider coming here with my mom, sisters and best friend for a great girls get away. It’ll just take a couple of years to save up that kind of money…

I came here with my daughter a few weeks ago – both of us had a great experience. There are many wonderful activities for people of all ages. I concentrated on yoga, stretching, and cardio classes. My daughter spent time doing pilates, zumba, and hiking.
The lectures we attended were excellent. There was a comedian one evening, who was quite entertaining. My daughter and I both enjoyed the food– portions weren’t huge like you get in many restaurants, but we both left meals satisfied and not craving more.
Spa services were excellent as well. Both my daughter and I had massages and facials. I also did metabolic testing and met with a physician, exercise physiologist and nutritionist. I went home with a great fitness plan that I can easily follow. Each of the professionals that I met was knowledgeable and imparted excellent advice. There was a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere throughout the facility. We’ll definitely go back next year.

I am in love with this place. I can’t believe there was once a time where I had to be convinced to go. Now I miss being there. Everything about it is amazing — the food and chefs, the trainers the yogis, the entire spa staff all hospitality people, all specialists — everything and everyone here is the very top of their respective fields.
It’s like summer camp for adults — so many fun and beneficial activities, Fencing, Ropes, Wally ball, Tennis, Yoga and the best Spa treatments I have ever had. I even went on a guided Shamanic voyage which was incredible! I never got bored there is always something to do and you make friends so quickly, everyone is always in a good mood. It’s the only place I have been where Bostonians and New Yorkers are genuinely friendly to each other. There was not one person I met that was OK with leaving — going back to the real world is hard but when you do — you are changed for the better. The peace you can attain in this place carries over into your real world. You leave happier, healthier and hopeful for the future. The closet thing I have felt to church or temple in a long time — it is a spiritual experience.

I have wanted to go to Canyon Ranch for a long time (okay, since my younger sister got to go a few years ago). It was worth the wait — Canyon Ranch is just about everything it promises to be. There are varied and highly enjoyable fitness classes at every level, the spa treatments are extensive, and the list goes on and on. The grounds are beautiful and expansive, nearby Lenox is appropriately adorable (although I didn’t want to spend much time outside of the resort), and the food is both delicious AND actually good for you. The price tag is high, but this is an experience worth your hard-​earned dough. I only hope I get to visit again!

After a truly horrible 16 months: Come here! It will make you feel better for quite a while.
After my brief spa experience last week (see review below) I decided to finally heed my friend’s constant (but sage) advice of: «Claude! Time to do something for your Self!» and so I came here for a three nights package deal!
I have to admit to a little personal satisfaction here: You see; I grew up in the Berkshires… but the poor part of the Berkshires! In New Marlborough –just a couple of townships away from Lennox but it might as well have been on another planet– with its West Virginia like shanty town poverty and horrific gerrymandered High School where few went off successfully to college (we didn’t even have a football team). So growing up, I never dreamed of coming to a place like the Canyon Ranch– which is the Gold standard of Spas in New England (against which all others are judged). To my Family It was just one of those places for «other people.» But now, since money no longer matters to me, it was nice to «come home» and experience something people with my background rarely get to do (because yes, we are two Americas now.)
As it says on their web site: «Canyon Ranch is an all-​inclusive spa resort, where you never need to wait for a check or worry about tipping.» (yeah…frugal new Englanders are crazy about tipping… kinda why I never fit in with them) Here is what you get for your $ 2,710.
1, Three healthy, all-​you-​can-​eat gourmet meals daily. Which were all delectable! And even more enjoyable when you realize it is good for you (makes you feel less bad about taking seconds… and thirds!)
2. Daily offerings of wellness classes and cooking demonstrations (perfect if you are an amateur chef like me always looking to improve your skill set)
3. Use of their epic 100,000-square-foot Spa complex which includes: State-​of-​the-​art cardio & weight rooms, Dance & yoga studios (fun for people watching) a Pilates/​Gyrotonic studio (fun for masochists), an Indoor cycling studio, indoor racquetball, squash & basketball courts, Indoor tennis courts, an Indoor running track, 75-​foot indoor pool, 50-​foot outdoor pool, saunas, steam rooms & whirlpools (sweeeeeeet!) Spa treatment rooms and a salon!
4. Guided hikes, biking trips, cross-​country skiing, snowshoeing, canoeing and kayaking (all in the Beautiful Berkshires Hills)
5. a «Personal Program Advisor» to help personally design your stay (Yeeeah…that part was kind of annoying)
6. Health and fitness assessment reviewed by a nurse educator (do NOT ask «Do you think nurses get the respect they deserve from the American medical establishment?»)
7. A VERY Generous «allowance» towards spa offerings of Classic massages, eastern therapies, Advanced restorative touch therapies, Yamuna® treatment, Ayurvedic body treatments, Hydrating and soothing body scrubs and wraps, and amazing facials for improved skin (really more then you can take in in 3 days)
8. Private consultations with their HUGE and EXPERT team of wellness professionals.
9. And a Room more befitting British Royalty then a state HR official: Cloud-​soft feather beds, Mascioni® luxury Italian linens, Terry cloth robes, In-​room coffee and tea service, and wonderful Amenity products, including superb shampoo, wonderful conditioner and luxuriant lotion (all of which they let you steal)

Come for attentive people and a range of good personal wellness services. The food is not very imaginative. Unless my memory is not good anymore, it seemed like the Tucson branch had amazing food selection — still healthy… this stuff was kinda dry. portions are good especially if you want to manage your diet and learn what to do. Liked cooking classes, yoga, spa, and people.

I can’t believe I’m the first to write a review for Canyon Ranch. This place is really fabulous. I took my mom there in March. I was a bit nervous. I was expecting a bunch of size 0 Upper East side /​East Hampton types to be gazelling around. Instead the place was populated with normal people trying to get away. My mom and I did totally different things there: she was visiting nurses and going to easy going exercise and walking classes; I was stressed out from a job search and recent break-​up so did all the energy healing, yin yoga, psychic things I could sign up for. Having oil poured on my 3^rd eye steadily for 30 minutes was probably the oddest thing I did, but I just went with it. They have so many activities that it’s a guarantee that you’ll be able to customize a stay just for you. And the staff is so incredibly nice. My mom hadn’t been to an exercise class in years and the lead instructors would see her, hand the class over to the assistant and stand by my mom showing her how to modify the exercises so she felt comfortable. One night by the fire we started talking to this lovely French woman who turned out to be a Holocaust survivor who had been hidden by a French family with her brother. We talked for hours and learned so much. Very interesting clientele. We’d go back in a heartbeat. I just got to find a company to IPO or a lottery to win in order to do it.
