Description

Specialties

It’s a small beer and wine bar with a loyal local clientele. I’ve got 10 beers on tap (Dos XX, Blue Moon, Bud Light, Amberbock, Coors Light, Miller Lite, Widmer Hefenwiezen, Newcastle, Sierra Nevada, and Sam Adams). There are a ton of can and bottle beers, from PBR to Stella, plus all the bottle stuff you would expect to find in a good beer cooler. I also make a mean wine based margarita plus Sunday bloody marys. What really sets this place apart is that it’s a local bar that people love to unwind in after a hard day at work, and my prices reflect that. What do you pay for a Sierra or Blue Moon down in the Gas Lamp? $ 8– $ 9? My 20oz premiums are $ 4.50, $ 3.50 for domestics. Even cheaper during Happy Hour M-F 5−7pm. We have pool and darts, racing and surfing on the flat screens, And an internet jute box that just ROCKS. Cute girls behind the bar too.

History

Established in 1957.

The bar has been known over the years as «Garth’s Good Guys» and «KC’s Good Guys».I took the place over in January 2009 and have been working on changing it over to the place I have envisioned. It’s always been a cool, little neighborhood bar, and that will not change. I’m just gonna put my stamp on it.

Business Owner

Well, where do start? Born in La Mesa, grew up on Dictionary Hill, and after living all over the place my wife and I bought a house not too far away. Some of you may have done business with me in the 20 years I worked at Leo Hamel Jewelers. (My wife is Lisa Hamel). Or you may have purchased a surfboard from me in the years that I ran South Coast Longboards down in OB. As I got farther into my 50’s I wanted to do something that would allow me to pursue the fun things in life. Owning this place allows me to crew for Autocon Motorsports on the ALMS circuit. I just wanted to create something cool and this bar reflects that. Stop by and say hi. If I’m in town I’m here. Dano
