Hampton Inn Tropicana

I loved my stay there Jay at the front desk is great and I think his name is Kevin works the breakfast is the best. Im also in the food business and it is nice to see his passion and love for his job. He is an asset to the hotel and I hope mgmt knows that thank you guys for making my stay wonderful will book again next year

A good value and still within walking distance of the Strip. The nice thing about this hotel is that there are zero resort fees and parking is free too. Our room was relatively quiet too.
And even though you need to cross the interstate to get to the Strip, there is a walkway you can take to easily and safely cross the interstate. It’s about a half mile walk to the Tropicana, Excalibur, NYNY, and MGM Grand.
There is also free breakfast in the morning.

Seriously annoyed. We called down to order room service from the menu by our bed. We were told we had to come down to order.
…Weird. But okay.
We get down there and ask where we go to order and the girl at the front gets super confused despite having just spoken to us. She proceeds to tell us where we can go to get food, and we’re like uh no, from the menu in the room.
She makes a face and says the menus were supposed to be removed. She makes a note, doesn’t apologize and hands us some menus from local places.
I just don’t understand why we were told to come down in the first place??? Why not just tell us they didn’t have room service when we asked to order room service.
To top it off, we went to buy a coke from the section with all the snacks, someone was restocking it, noticed us, but didn’t let us pass. We literally just stood there waiting for her to acknowledge us in some way, tell us to just wait a moment or something, but no. Silence. So we went back upstairs much more disgruntled than when we came down.
The staff needs to get their sh*t together.

Please note: this review is for the conference/​event center and the rude, ineffective management.
My organization arranged and paid for the use of meeting/​event space. The specifics (including minor things like the number of people) were clearly described in the contract. Upon arrival the morning of the event, I was not only informed that we were moved to a different part of the facility – but that there was another large event going on and things might get crowded.
Soon – our participants were lined up and being given multiple directives by staff members. I even had a custodian ask me which of his managers gave me permission to have people wait in the lobby! Speaking of managers – rather than trying to accommodate us, we were yelled at, given directives, and told to stay away from the breakfast area. Given the sheer number of people and the amount of time they were being forced to wait, I really doubt that hotel waffles were on their mind.
The general manager (a short bald man wearing a white shirt) and his assistant – Mary – who I also believe manages catering, walked around, trying to move people, barking orders, reminding us that the person that booked us initially no longer worked there, and quite honestly frightened our participants.
One of the «security» people told a family that they should get «one of them stickers» for handicapped people – and that without it they had no right to complain about having to park on the top of a non-​accessible garage. Oh – yes – the reason? An entire floor was blocked off for the other patron (a transportation company that allows people to use their own cars as taxis). It would have been very nice to have our contract honoured or at least have some empathy shown for people thrown into a nightmare.
I would hope that a brand such as this – associated with arguably the biggest name in hospitality would not allow such behaviour from its management. We will not only be looking for a new venue that can follow contracts – but will encourage others to do likewise.

Actually a good convenient hotel when all strip is booked with so many events happening on same week. Nice pool w waterfall. Good bar. Rooms your typical Hampton Inn which is a relief that you know the type of room you will always get.
Check in and out was a breeze. Nice pantry for late night cravings. Great gas station store right next door to buy almost anything you could need. Bottle of wine and plenty of snacks for room :)
A great little fitness center w cardiovascular and weights. With tv.
Great location for quick strip access but not in the middle of it all. If needed shuttle to the strip to Tropicana hotel. Also good they have a shuttle to airport. Free WiFi in hotel. A must nowadays for any decent hotel. :)
Plenty of covered a d uncovered parking w many accesses to be close to your room from your car. Not walking a mile like some strip hotels pros and cons.
Best thing os the rate doesn’t fluctuate 300% as it does for on strip hotels which I can understand why resorts do it. Hampton stays within range which a good point for Hilton hotels.

I was going back and forth with if I should give 4 stars or 5 stars but I will give it 4.5! ARGHH! It’s tough but here it goes:
I truly had an UH-​MAZING stay here at this hotel! I was a little nerves when coming because after reading the Unilocal reviews I didn’t know what to think or expect.
I arrived at the hotel and was approached by Rebecca. VERY VERY VERY (yes, I meant to say it 3 times) nice and respectful young lady! She has amazing hospitality! I had previously asked over the phone for a microwave and fridge in my room and the people on the phone was SO rude, «Its first come first serve on that so we can’t make promises that we can give you what you want». WHAT? Ok whatever! So when I asked Rebecca at the front desk for one she instantly said, «No problem! I’ll get one sent to your room right now». OMG! Really! Well that was easy!
I was located on the 2^nd floor. The room was VERY nice! Big size Queen bed, couch and table in the room! My room faced the pool area which was ok because I rarely was in my room to enjoy the view. The bathrooms were nice and very clean. Many Unilocalers stated something about old carpet but my room was VERY clean, I literally had NO complaints!
Shuttle bus from the airport comes every 15 minutes after the hour. My driver was Joe and he was very nice! The shuttle bus also takes you to the Tropicana every hour on top of the hour. This was VERY helpful in my situation because with 100 degree weather outside walking is just not cool!
The hotel is right next to Chevron and walking distance from: In and Out, Jack in the Box, McDonalds and Denny’s. I am a late sleeper so I ended up missing out on the good breakfast that I hear they serve from 6−10AM each morning!
There is also a bar in the hotel which is very convenient. The pool and Jacuzzi is outside and very nice. There is also a computer room on the first floor. They have a place on the first floor to store your luggage in case your plane leaves late like mine did. I was able to check out the room at 11AM and store my luggage with then till 7pm and the shuttle drove me to the airport! FREEE!
YES! How lovely!!! I also was asked if I wanted a late checkout. Well how late will I get I asked the front desk and they stated up till 3pm! NOICEEE! But I didn’t take the late checkout because I knew I wanted to walk the strip for my last day in Vegas. But that was EXTREMELY nice to ask me!
My ONLY problem was the damn walk from this hotel to the strip! OMG, well maybe because it was 100 degree weather outside ALL weekend and I was just NOT feeling it! But that walk to me, is FAR more then 10 – 15 minutes! OMG, Seemed more like 20 – 25 ARGHH! Because of that I have to take a star off! BUT… BUT…That may soon change!
After I came back from my LONGG walk! I of course walked in like I just awoke from the walking dead and Rebecca seem me stomping in mad and hot! After I came out the bathroom she approached me with a bottle of water for me and my best friend and asked if there was anything else we needed. HOW NICE IS THAT?
I can’t stop bragging about the hospitality here at the hotel! I LOVE it! Rebecca at the front desk is a true example of what front desk workers should be like EVERYDAY! I swear because of her I will definitely be back.

Normally I would look at a Hampton in as a hotel that could never garner more than four stars, but this hotels gets top rating ing due to the friendly and professional service of Keven Jackson, who’s exuberance and love for his job made every morning we dined in the hotel a special event. He’s clearly the heart and sole of this hotel and if you don’t know it… He’s your best ambassador and #1 employee!

A douche bag employee questioned me at the breakfast bar as if I was not a guest and I was a homeless person sleeping in the back off the hotel trying to rip off a free breakfast. I must say the absolute worst customer service experience I have every had at any hotel. and I have been at some dumps. I am a hospitality expert in the service industry for 35 years and you have a big problem in Las Vegas. Breakfast sucks and I would be surprised if a homeless person would want it! Not bad property, but for the cash find a similar hotel with staff that cares about their guests.
DO NOT STAY HERE.

KEEPING DRIVING TO A QUALITY HOTEL

I stay at a lot of Hamptons and this location is one of my favorites. While in town for business, I moved here from another brand chain hotel that was down right scary. This location was far more secure, cheaper, and more convenient to the strip. This location offers the added treat of having a bar in the lobby. All of the staff I dealt with were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. The morning I departed, I noted one of the workers exchanging some laughs with some small kids during breakfast. After he left the table, one of the children remarked to his parents that they needed to «come back here next year»! I can’t think of a complaint other than both coffee dispensers ran out at the same time when I was ready for a refill… sorry, that’s the best complaint I can come up with!

The hospitality at this hotel is unbelievably awesome. From the front desk to the bar, everyone is so friendly, making me feel at home away from home.
Kudo’s on the great breakfast buffet. Finally a light breakfast that included turkey sausage and fluffy scrambled eggs with ham and cheese.
I will come back over and over again to this hotel and encourage anyone who reads this to get off the strip and come to Hampton, Tropicana. It’s still only 5 minutes from the strip, but much less expensive and like the old days of Las Vegas, FREE BUFFET!

Wow this was a great place. We stopped over here after landing from Milwaukee on our way to the Grand Canyon. This is just a few blocks from the strip. Much more affordable clean and great service. The morning buffet was great and so was Mr Jackson. We hope to come back there soon.

Came to check in on Friday at 240pm. Manager Robert Kepp was not so friendly. Advised us we were early and the room isn’t ready… in a matter of fact frank way. He said check in was 3pm. We agreed, and went to the store next door. 240 turns to 3 turns to 315p. We asked again waa the room ready he said «It hasn’t been cleaned yet, I will call you when it’s ready». Bottom line he was rude he left the desk and someone else took over. We got the key at 345p. No apologies from him.
Room was below average. No microwave/​fridge. Breakfast was decent. But Will not be staying here again.

You know, this is a pretty standard hotel with easy access to strip, airport ($ 15 – 25 taxi, no über (stupid!)) and next to gas station and adjacent to a few fast food places (In-​n-​out is across the busy intersection). I chose bc it’s in the hilton portfolio and the price was great (20k points/​night). I would stay here again.
Good:
–the lobby coffee is oddly great tasting
–shower water pressure
–didn’t go in but the pool/​hot tub looked nice
–free parking
–I walked out to get a taxi to a non-​strip location about a mile away and the shuttle driver took me there… for free. I was told that they bring not only to the strip but to the airport (both when arriving and landing) but arrange with the front desk, especially upon arrival. I think they start in the early AM and end at 1 am.
Bad:
–No late checkout. I stay at Hilton brands often and cannot stand when certain ones say… we’re very busy. For this trip, I had about 10 hours to kill before my flight. I ended up extending another night. guess what, the hotel lobby would suggest that they were NOT busy at all.
–The key for my room was really temperamental

–While shower water pressure was good, the shower curtain only extended to the lip of the tub. So, it was very difficult to keep the water in the tub and not on the bathroom floor.
–good sized bathroom countertop but the sink is oddly placed, very close to the wall and then a large amount of countertop.
–There was this large open space in my room where a chair or table normally is. Just empty. Maybe. because it’s Vegas, it’s meant for a dance party or for people to stand/​wait???
–The coffee maker and ice bucket where on a bathroom stand next to the toilet. I’m unsure why but I find that very gross!

As a professional business traveler I have stayed at this hotel and taught a class in their meeting room once every 6 weeks. My meeting room was robbed by their employee in November 2014. We lost 70% of our training materials including computers, projectors, audio equipment, etc. The hotel manager was extremely rude and used profanity against me when I mentioned the theft. This hotel has refused to cooperate with the Las Vegas Police Department and with me. My company will never do business with this hotel again and I recommend if you have valuables you do not as well.

I’m struggling with how many stars to give this Hampton Inn. It has its pros and cons. We stayed here during our visit to Las Vegas in October. We were looking for an inexpensive place to stay, on or near the strip, which was also safe and clean. I went with the Hampton Inn since it was a name I was familiar with and knew I have a decent place to stay.
The Hampton Inn did offer those accommodations. As a place to lay our heads, this hotel offered exactly what we needed: a spacious, clean room, a comfortable bed, and a generous complimentary breakfast, which accommodated this vegan quite well. Fresh made oatmeal every morning (like, actual oatmeal, not the instant crap) with various toppings, and a pretty decent variety of fresh fruit. The breakfast also included some eggs, meats, waffle irons for you to pour your own waffle, bagels, muffins, a couple varieties of bread, not to mention a few selections of coffees, teas, and juices. Overall, quite a nice spread for a hotel breakfast.
My only issue with this hotel is the location. They advertise themselves as being only two blocks from the strip. I assure you, these are not city blocks. It’s easily a 20 minute walk for two fit people, forcing you to walk under one rather sketchy overpass where a few homeless people hung out. We would not do this walk at night, opting to take a cab to get back after dark.
The hotel does offer shuttle service to the strip at designated times, but only goes go a couple of locations, all the way at the southern end of the strip. Las Vegas in general requires a lot of walking, and adding an extra 20+ minutes to the trip each way was definitely tiring.
Other note: The wi-​fi was quite slow, but that’s typical of a hotel.
Overall, neither of us were huge fans of Las Vegas, so I don’t see us returning, but if we do, we’ll definitely be staying at a hotel right ON the strip.

Service is terrible, really ghetto people stay here. Wifi is really slow, room is dated, and doesn’t look very clean. Also unlike every other Hampton Inn, this one does not have fridge and microwave in rooms!
Parking is a nightmare to find, and the rates are rather high on weekdays.

This was a nice hotel within walking distance from the strip. They keep it clean and all of the staff I had dealings with were very courteous and professional. They have a ton of parking so you shouldn’t have to worry about not getting a spot even when returning from a late night on the town. They have a 3 story garage when the lot fills up.
They have a bar in-​house and you get a discount on drinks if you’re staying there, not sure what or how much as I had friends staying on the strip so I was hanging with them.
The rooms were well kept, stocked sufficiently with toiletries and towels. The shower had decent water pressure which was nice. There was a single serve coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board in the room. No in room safe or fridge though. Flat screen TV with a decent selection of channels. Free in room wifi and they had a bunch of plugs to keep all of your gadgets charged, even had USB chargers!
The free breakfast wasn’t really good, it was a bit of an upgrade from a continental type breakfast. There were 3 waffle irons to make your own waffles, hot cheese omlettes (appeared premade with the eggs that get poured from a box) and some type of meat (sausage patty on my first day) along with the rest of your standard continental offerings. Waffles were the highlight, I’ve had better bagels from the freezer at the grocery store.
My only real gripe was that there was no in room fridge. I overheard a group of highschool kids talking about having a fridge in their room. There was a large group staying there for some type of band event. I am a HiltonHonors member and would think they should have given that option to me, not because I am better/​older/​etc than the kids but because I am a ‘Frequent flyer’ at their hotels.

We love this place. Away from the smoky casinos. Clean room. Clean bed. Great breakfast. Enjoyable pool. Thank you Roddell for your help in securing 2 rooms for my family of 6! Can’t wait to return.

My family and I took a trip to Vegas and our previous choice of hotel was a bad experience. So we had to find another hotel and we came upon this gem.
Beautiful hotel, great price, super clean and free breakfast. Oh and a nice clean pool! What more could you ask for?
The service was great and the rooms were spotless. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Vegas.
Its about 1 – 2 miles west of the strip but not a far drive back.
I give it 4 stars because I feel like the breakfast should be open a little longer (only open 6 – 10) and the pool wasn’t heated. Although it’s Vegas the pool is in a spot where the sun does not hit the water so its always freezing.
PS there is an in n out literally across the street!

A/​C is very loud but great location and very reasonable prices for the weekend, free breakfast (decent one too). Rooms are clean and re-​modeled. They offer shuttle to and from the airport and to the strip. You can actually walk to the strip, it would take you about 15 minutes. Easy access to the I-​15 freeway.
Tip: you may want to stay here for the good weekend rates and the casinos on the strip during Sunday to Thursday nights.
