Desert Christian Schools

Don’t send your kids here! I went to Desert Christian Middle school (I’m in college now) and it was a terrible experience. First off a majority of the kids there discriminated me for being Hispanic, I had one experience there where a boy spit on me and told me to go back to Mexico. I told my parents and they were furious, after they went to speak with the principle he did absolutely NOTHING and made it seem like I was lying about everything. Second, the teachers there are a joke. In a Spanish class that I had the teacher said that Colombia (which is where my family is from) is famous for cocaine. How is that an acceptable way to teach at a CHRISTIAN middle school where you pay for your kids to get a better education? The teachers also do not stop bullying when it’s taking place in their class rooms. After the bullying incident i had, my parents pulled me out of that school and put me in public school for the rest of my 8^th grade year only to find out that I was way behind from what was being taught in the public school system. Do NOT send your kids here, it’s a terrible excuse for a Christian school.

I had beyond several issues with this school. The kids here are a$$holes, the reasons why is nearly all of them are rude and discriminated me because of my weight and autism. I got in 6 fights in ONE school year because kids there were constantly butthurts and sometimes they even tried to physically attack me. Now onto the teachers. I only had two decent teachers throughout my 6^th grade year that actually cared about me. All the others would yell at me and other students, give us a sh*t ton of homework and class work, and would violated my IEP. I had more work here in 6^th grade, than I do now my SENOIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL! Now onto the worst part, the school rules, and the principle and vice principle. The school rules are absolutely retarded, especially the disciplinary rules. I was once out at lunch chilling with my only 3 friends, and one of the teachers interrupts out conversation and took my phone out of my hand. She was quite rude about it and did not give it back for a WEEK. But that’s not the worst part, she tried to give me a referral and get me suspended! And plus, when my mom and I tried to set up an IEP, the principal refused! Some other bad experiences I had were having a teacher destroying my friend’s toys that he brought to school, having to be blamed for sh*t I did not do, and that I walked across the parking lot one time to get to the bus and some stupid lady tried to get me in trouble for «jaywalking». Plus, I tried to visit the high school about a half year ago to talk to someone and security tried to kick me out and make a false police report on me for harassment! Luckily the police thought the report was retarded and it did not get filed. AGAIN, DO NOT SEND ANY OF YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS SCHOOL! DESERT CHRISTIAN IS A WASTELAND!

I love Desert Christian. My daughter started in the Preschool Learning Tree program, and is now entering 8^th grade. We have been blessed with teachers who love their students, take time to know them individually, and develop a lasting relationship with both the students and us parents. Whenever I have had an issue, it has been resolved quickly and to my satisfaction.
Those who truly believe in a God-​centered education will not be disappointed. DCS is safe, positive and provides a diverse selection of advanced academics, athletic opportunities and enrichment programs. I’ve read other reviews, and no school is going to be a perfect fit for everyone. It’s not reasonable to expect that.
Schedule a tour and observe the students in their regular environment. It’s a vast difference from the bullying, language and drama in other schools. You will see genuine friendship, acceptance, and camaraderie. This eliminates wasted time spent on conflict and promotes a positive learning experience. Don’t take my word for it– go see for yourself!

My daughter attended Desert Christian school for many years. She did very well and received very high grades. When we moved out of the area I had to put her public school. We quickly found out how far behind she was. If you are thinking of sending your children to this school, you should consider other options.

When we pulled our kids out of school before the end of the year due to the non education they were getting. they still wanted us to pay for the last two months of school and we refused. So they turned us over to a ridiculous collection agency who won’t except anything except for a payment in full. It’s been five years and they’ve collected nothing. I guess they’re waiting for Jesus to come take the money right out of my pocket. As far as the education is concerned my kids tell me their English teacher used to sit in class and sniff sharpies the math teacher is obsessed with little girls and has Polaroid pictures of the girls volleyball team all over his pin board in their little shorts and as far as science is concerned they try to tell the kids that evolution is evil and not real so clearly we had to get the children out of there before they fell any further behind in education.

My son attends DCS elementary this is his second year there and he loves it. He has excelled spiritually and academically in every subject. The teachers that he has had so far have been very helpful and pleasant. The staff is very professional. Overall I am very happy with the school.

This is the best school in the entire Antelope Valley. I graduated from here. I absolutely loved it. The education is wonderful. It completely prepared me for college and graduate school. I definitely will send my future kids here, if the Lord grants them to me. I am so thankful that this school is not only strong academically, but also strong spiritually.

Wow, DCS deserves 10 stars. They are a faith based school that excels in academics. You can’t always find both those traits at the same school. The teaching staff is well educated and fully accredited by ACSI, every single one of them, not just some mandatory percentage of them. They are there because they care, not for the money. DCS isn’t some snobby high end private school, there are families from all sorts of financial situations, which I think makes the school priceless. I’ve had a child graduate and one that still attends the high school. We didn’t start at DCS until the middle school years, so I can’t really rate the elementary levels, but I can assure you that 6^th grade and up is worth every penny that you will put into your child’s education. Since it’s a larger school than other faith based schools in the Antelope Valley, I think it allows for more experiences than a smaller school can offer.

Absolutely 5 stars !! I would suggest to have a tour of the school. Both my kids go here and everyone seems to be very concerned with their education and them as young kids.
Ask to meet Mrs. Lopez if you have a JK, she has an amazing way with kids!

While there are several well meaning teachers at this school, and some dedicated staff members, on the whole the school has seriously flawed curriculum that will leave your child extremely underprepared for advanced education. I attended between the grades of 4 to 8^th (ending in 1991), and was subjected to some of the most backward and banal courses you could conceive. This school gets an F for maths and sciences, a C for English and an D for the one thing they should excel at, Religious studies. If I hadn’t gone to Paraclete HS where I was finally challenged, I would likely have stumbled on to AV Jr. College and probably into the unemployment line. Case Example: it was more common for us to be dragged into seminars about «the evils of evolution and science» than it was to actually learn science. My math teacher for 2 years was the janitor. A smart guy, for sure, but an unaccredited and untrained proxy who couldn’t control the class, and couldn’t actually teach. I had friends who had many run ins with the school administration for minor and petty infractions that would have been overlooked anywhere else (light cursing ‘heck’, ‘dang’) not to mention a certain principal’s «alternative» forms of punishment that were humiliating and unproductive.
Now before you chalk this up to: «another adult whining about his underprivileged pasts who needs to get over it», consider this: I have moved on, but the thought that these fakers are still shoveling the same old shit down the throats of bright, and inquisitive children moves me to TESTIFY. Though not a litigious man, I’d say this school OWES us for their malpractice. I know all those words set off alarms in some of the more conservative amongst you, but I believe that us moderates understand, some things are broken and should be fixed, or abanoned. This is one of these.
