SonShine Factory is a Christian Preschool/​Daycare/​Kindergarten. We have classes for children from 6 weeks-​Kindergarten. Our program operates as a non-​denominational, developmental curriculum for children. We accept full time, part time, and flexible schedules. Our program utilizes Title V teacher: child ratios. History

Established in 1985.

The SonShine Factory Preschool was started in 1985 as a community outreach to local families to help with education, childcare, growth and development for their loved ones.

Gara D.

Manager

Gara Doll-​Kolbow serves as Director for the preschool. She has been involved in childcare and preschool work since 1988. She earned both of her Bachelor’s Degrees in Early Childhood Development, and a Business Management Degree from Ashford University. She has worked for Early Childhood programs in the public and private sector.

Went and toured the facility while looking for childcare for my daughter. The lady I talked to on the phone was great, so I had really high hopes. When I got there, I was so disappointed! The front desk was not helpful, everything was older and run down, and then when I got to the infant room there were 3 teachers for 8 kids, which is great, except one was on her phone texting, while I toured! I asked about arts and crafts and was told that the kids are too young for that (most were 9 – 12 months old). Asked about reading stories to the kids, and they said that ‘they are all getting close to walking, so they don’t sit still for stories’. Ok, so what do you do with them all day?! The teachers weren’t interested in me, my daughter, or the kids they already had with them. Definitely wouldn’t choose to send my child here.

We have used Sonshine Factory for a year and a half now and between our three kids have experienced every age range from infant through Kindergarten. I can not say enough good things about this place. The staff is wonderful and very caring, they truly seem to love the children. I once asked my daughter (age 4 at the time) who her favorite teacher was and she responded with «I love all of them!»
Along with great care, I am very pleased with how much they are learning. I love how much my 2 year old surprises me with his knowledge and how excited to learn my 5 year old is. It truly is a wonderful school and I recommend it to anyone looking for child care in the AV!

We love SonShine Factory. My Daughter started last year in preschool/​pre-​k and she is now in Kindergarten. She loves it and so do I. Her teachers and aid’s are amazing! First and foremost they are very loving and caring. Next she has learned so much already — she is well ahead of what she would be learning in public Kindergarten. Also what I love is the activities they do for the students, parties and celebrations. What is a great benefit as well is Kindergarten is all day and it is not much more for after school care. We will miss SonShine Factory when she moves on to first grade next year. If you are looking for a safe and wonderful environment for your children this is the place for you!

I have 5 kids and 4 have attended this school so far. The teachers are absolutely great. Right now my son only goes 2 days a week but asks to go everyday. I’ve met the teachers from the nursery all the way to the kindergarten classroom and the staff. The teachers are dedicated and truly care for the kids. One of the comments on this Unilocal page (from Jenn S.) lists that they favor the children that attend their church, and that is simply false. We do not attend the church and have been treated with nothing but kindness. I have recommended this school to family members and many friends. You can’t go wrong with enrolling your children here– the director, office secretary, teachers and staff are all awesome!

I couldn’t possibly love SonShine Factory any more! My son learned so much in the two years he has spent there and grew spiritually as well. The teachers and caregivers love your children as if they’re their own and treat them with kindness and respect. All off the kids are so happy to be there and so proud of all the things they do and get to share with us parents. I will dearly miss SonShine and will continue to refer them and their programs for as long as parents need early education and care for their little ones.

No one has a real education at this school. The school does many things illegally. They are dirty… just look around at all the dead cockroaches. They have lots of favoritism especially if your child attends the church. My child learned very little and was afraid of his teacher. The teachers are also very snobby. I read reviews and thought this was a great school until I found out how fake the director and teachers were. Not good. Please take my advice!

My son has attended the Sonshine Factory since he was one year old. The director and staff are amazing with the children. This upcoming preschool year will be my sons last year with them and I will miss it so much. They do many activities and you can tell they love the children. They accommodate to your schedule as best as they can and they even accept CCRC. I love the Sonshine Factory and I highly recommend it to everyone.

I cannot say enough positive things about the director, staff, and program. Both of my kids attended for several years and I was very please with the atmosphere and their academic progress. I have referred many people and will continue to do so, now that both my kids are in public school I really miss this place!
