Established in 1972.

Ocean Air Conditioning & Heating Co has been a family owned business operating in the same location since it’s inception. We are a «Premier Lennox Dealer» which is a designation you must earn & maintain. We must deliver on customer expectations and are evaluated through an independent third party monthly. We continually exceed all industry averages. We have a large warehouse that is fully stocked with parts & equipment. Through the years we have seen many competitors come & go but we have remained. Rest assured, we will be here for the long run to provide any services needed, be it warranty or future needs.

John Kopp is the son of Richard Kopp who established the company back in 1972. He has lead the company as President & CEO since 1986. He keeps up with all the changes in this continually evolving industry, and there have been many. He also has several HVAC industry patents under his belt.

Knowledgeable and honest. I called to purchase a part that I thought I needed to fix my furnace. In a few short minutes John helped me diagnose the problem turns out it was not what I thought, was extremely simple, required no new parts and I fixed it myself. They could of told me it was complex and needed a service call, but were more interested in helping me get my heater going. Kudos, I would not hesitate to call them in for a service call, great honest service.

In an industry where it is very hard for the customer to know what parts need to be fixed so that your a/​c and heating are always functioning, THESE ARE THE PEOPLE TO TRUST!!! We live near the beach so we also have an extra hepa filter on our systems, but beach air, sand and dust still are hard on any a/​c and heating equipment. Over the years, we have used other companies and I can honestly tell you that Ocean Air (especially Tim!) is THE company you want to have work in your home. In their office, Joan works her magic to make sure that anything that can be done, will be done. Our home systems are a bit more complex as my IT husband has our NEST (and other Bluetooth electronics), interacting with our a/​c and heating systems, yet Ocean Air always exceeds expectations on any challenge that may sometimes come up. In addition to being TRULY NICE people, they are masters in the industry — and fairly priced. No gouging by them! We will always be loyal to them and highly recommend them. (And P. S. to Tim: Many thanks for fixing our system when a heating system emergency arose, as my husband was traveling and house guests were expected when he returned! Kudos and THANK YOU!)

I can’t say enough good things about Ocean Air. They do quality work at fair prices, and they stand by their work. During their first visit, they performed an inexpensive repair of my ancient unit, saving me thousands of dollars compared to the cost of a new unit, which another company said I needed. Naturally, when I finally decided to replace my old equipment, I stuck with Ocean Air and bought a full heating and AC system. The owner, John, personally visited my Irvine home twice; once to check on a leak, which he fixed at no charge. Another time, to relocate my thermostat to a preferred location. It wasn’t easy, but John stuck with it, threading and maneuvering the wires thru the attic and down inside the wall, until they arrived at the desired location, all for a very reasonable price. These people are honest, professional, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. I recommend them highly.

Super pleased with service. I think the price was good, but one thing I do know is: I was treated with respect and felt service tech was trustworthy. He took the time to answer questions and help with airflow issue that just took knowledge to fix, no «extra parts». Only sold me one item not on my list, but I felt assured it was going to save me re charging the unit in the future. (even let me google the product prior to me saying yes). Will be sure to use again when needed and refer in the meantime.

I couldn’t be happier with my experience with Ocean Air. Scheduling was super easy. They called the day before to confirm and showed up within the designated window time. We are already starting off on the right foot. Then Tim my technician tells me in a matter of minutes it’s just a fuse and he will replace both for the same as he would charge for one. He also took the time to check out the rest of my unit and then took even more time to answer a bunch of random questions I had regarding upgrading and necessary improvements in order to be ready to sell the house. The price was extremely fair and explained thoroughly. I will definitely use them in the future for all my ac/​heating needs and I will not hesitate to refer them to friends and family. In this day and age its businesses like this that help keep your faith in humanity.

The technicians and office staff were professional. However, don’t expect service after the sale. I bought an expensive Lennox system that I am having problems with and they are no help. During the repair process I found out that my unit is no longer manufactured because of its ozone depleting properties. Another company told me that the Ocean would have known when they sold it to me that it was being discontinued. I asked the owner if it was true, and his answer was that «Lennox is a very reputable company». I asked him the question again, and he said that «many homes have the model you have». He never answered the question, so I guess I got my answer. Since this unit is not manufactured anymore, the parts and refrigerant are expensive. And the system is bad for the environment. I am disappointed in this local company, as I expected more from them.

Ocean Air put in a new furnace, ductwork, and thermostat in my place and they did an excellent job. Mick and Brendan were the workers who did the work and in the afternoon Brian came and helped them. The entire job was completed in less than a full day. Mick and Brendan were careful not to mark the walls and did everything to please me with their work. i would highly recommend Ocean Air and ask for Mick and Brendan to do the work as they were an excellent team.

I normally don’t post reviews but I had to in this case so others would not be ripped off they way we were. I had the same bad experience the other negative reviews had. We called them for what would seem to be a simple problem. They were there for about an hour and supposedly installed a new part that we were charged over $ 400 dollars for. After doing research on the internet, it turns out the part was about $ 100 and we were ridiculously up-​charged. After discovering this my husband called to speak to the owner to try and get the bill reduced and he refused. Not happy at all! If I could give no starts I would.

We had gone with Ocean Air several years back to get a new A/​C system installed in our home (another bid came in at $ 3k higher).
This weekend I had decided to update to a new thermostat, so I bought a Honeywell & carefully followed their install guide — only to have nothing working. Turns out their instructions didn’t warn about installing a 5th (common power) wire until much later in their instructions, disconnecting this wire didn’t change anything. Called Ocean Air, who determined that I’d most likely just blown a fuse in the furnace. Being over 6 feet tall (our furnace is attic mounted), and newly recovering from some surgery, I wasn’t about to be climbing up any ladders. So John came out & quickly found & fixed my problem.
I’m a bit ticked off @Honeywell, but couldn’t be happier with Ocean Air.

I had a Lennox 4 ton furnace installed in my home, replacing a 29 year old unit.
Everything went smooth with the transaction. From getting an initial estimate in two days, to scheduling the replacement in another 3 days. The repairmen showed up on time and got right to work. They noticed a water leak from the flue pipe that was coming in from the exhaust cap on the roof. They replaced the cap with a modern one. They also replaced the exhaust cap on my water heater, stating it may start leaking also. They replaced both at no extra cost. Painted both same color as my roof tile also. The rest of the job went smoothly. They left me 3 spare filters, which only need an annual swap out, if that. The unit comes with a 10 year limited warranty. I would of done the work myself, but the units that are available to me would not of been as reliable. I have spent countless hours replacing/​warrantying new appliances from «major» retailers, and it is not worth it. These units can not be purchased without a dealer, so hiring these professional contractors was the way to go all in all.

I dealt with John and Brian for an AC issue that another company misdiagnosed. Ocean Air was knowledgeable, reliable and fair. Some HVAC companies have a fleet of salespeople (disguised as service techs) that are out to upsell you and charge you as much as they can, simply looking to earn a big commission. This company does not operate that way. They were transparent about the pricing, the labor costs, the estimated time, etc.
I recommend this company highly and will always call them first with future HVAC issues.

Watch your wallet !!
Called them this AM as heating is not working. Tim came checked and concluded that part of the ducting is old and needs replacing. He will send somebody later today to fix it. He claimed that it is a big work and asked for $ 300. I agreed. He send a young guy who replaced a 12 inch piece of ducting in less than 30 minutes. The material is less than $ 50. I felt that $ 250 per hour is too high. How many years of education does it take to be a HVAC technician? Poor doctors and accountants who make less per hour. I will never use them again.
Next time pay time & materials. They will fool you big time. what a shame!

We had a terrible experience when the gentleman with ocean air came over to check our old unit. We had to wait for four days for an appointment and then he came in, took a look at the unit and without doing anything but looking told us we needed a new air conditioner. He said it would be over $ 5000 and more if our outside units also needed to be replaced. Also they only deal with Lennox. My husband asked him many questions and just felt like he was being taken, did not trust this guy at all. I called another company and they came over that day and long story short they replaced our inside unit for $ 2800 and even gave us a bigger and better unit. So glad my husband trusts his instincts.

Won’t bore you with the details… our AC stopped working. We called Ocean Air. They showed up when they said they would, the technician was courteous and professional. They solved the problem and fixed our AC for a fair price. Highly satisfied with their service and would recommend them for your air conditioning/​heating needs. And, what a concept, a human being answers the phone when you call!!!
