Specialties
We specialize in all things Irish: cuisine, a perfectly poured pint, whiskey, and hospitality.
History
Established in 2008.
The story of Nine Irish Brothers begins 30 years ago, when founder Jerry O’Bryan told his wife, Jan, that if his other business didn’t work out, he wanted to open an Irish pub. Jerry’s business did work out, but Jerry finally decided it was time to realize his dream, an authentic Irish pub serving traditional Irish fare, Guinness by the pint, and featuring live music and the friendly, upbeat atmosphere typical of Irish pubs world-wide. The idea of coming together with friends old and new is what we strive to replicate. Our goal is to be the place of choice for gathering with friends to share good conversation, good food and drink, and lively music in a friendly and upbeat environment. Nine Irish Brothers is family-owned, family-designed-and-built, and family-run. (And family has quite a bit to do with the name, of course.) Over the course of several trips to Ireland, we’ve been able to hand-pick our furniture and décor for each location. Stop by and ask for a tour!
Meet the Business Owner
Jerry O.
Business Owner
The original O’Bryan clan sailed from Cork in 1891 bound for New York. Fleeing the famine, they braved North Atlantic storms, Castle Garden bureaucrats, corduroy roads, the Erie Canal and the uncertainties of Indiana farming to bring you this authentic Irish pub.
That first Irish-American O’Bryan family had two surviving children, but the fifth generation of that family, that of Sylvester and Julia, had 14. And what a brood they turned out to be: lawyers, military men, real sisters (as in nuns), mechanics, coaches, businessmen, scientists, farmers, builders, and true community volunteers. In the words of sister Judy, «Mom and Dad taught us to laugh, love, share, pray, and live.»
Jerry O’Bryan, the principal owner of Nine Irish Brothers, is the youngest of nine boys & five girls. Jerry pays tribute to his brothers with the pub’s name and honors his sisters with an inscription above the bar: & Five Irish Sisters.
