Walt’s is a remodeled, larger version of the Other Pub, across the street from its former location. We got a table right awy without reservation on a Saturday night, and were seated on the second floor in a quiet wing away ftom the crowds. Turned out to be a great location; we had a good view of the game on TV, and our service was swift and frequent. The food is what you’d expect from a pub: beer-battered you-name-it and great sandwiches, but also some nice surprises like Paradiso salad(combo of shrimp, grilled veggies, rotini pasta and salad). Good food and drink, great service, moderate crowds, family friendly– we’ll be coming back more often!

I really want to like this place so badly, but after eating here at least nine times in the past six months, I just can’t recommend it any longer. It’s a terrific facility. The service has really improved. The bar is fine and the selection there is very good. But the food is just C– to D+. And that kills it for me. Sandwich buns mashed flat, greasy burned fries, waitstaff delivering burned food, etc. Pricing is okay on menu items, but soft drinks and coffees push $ 2.50? This place can and should do a lot better.

I went to Walt’s Other Pub looking to try a new restaurant in town. My hostess was really friendly and I was very happy with my service. I had the burger based on Jeff… I can’t remember what it is called, but it was delicious! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal. My margarita was made a little strong. The appetizer we got was cheesy fries, and it was cold by the time we got it. The cheese was not completely melted. Overall it was pretty good.

Food was good. Love the burger– I think the bread made it taste so good. They don’t use the fluffy store bought burger buns but might have used their baked bread or something. I also had the steamed veggie plate with tilapia over a bed of rice. Their«rice» was terrible, more like porridge. They should at least learn how to make decent rice– or get a good rice cooker! Service was TERRIBLY slow and it wasn’t that busy. I think my server had like 3 tables and it took her forever to check us out.

This restaurant appears to have just opened, but they had everything right. Our waitress was very friendly and served our drinks quickly. They had an excellent food selection, and the burger I got was delicious. I would highly recommend this to anyone in the Lafayette area.

Good service despite being busy. I enjoyed the daily deals, 14 wings for $ 8 and large drafts for $ 4. Very good, will come back!

I frequently go to Walt’s for lunch. Their food is decent to OK, but the service is very slow, even though it’s not busy. Some waiters seem to be unmotivated and neglecting some customers. I was at the bar one day, and the service was so slow. Fish and chips are okay, not the best. Waffle fries are good. Tenderloins are too dry. And don’t get Windsor. It ruined my appetite.

I really wanted to love this place. Local restaurants are usually my favorite. I’ve eaten here twice, and both times have been very disappointing. The service is just plain bad. The hostess looked and acted like she was miserable. My boyfriend and I came in and could see there were many open tables available. We still waited 20 mins for a table. Once seated, it took 20 mins to get our drinks. When our food arrived, just like the first time we were here, we were not impressed. It’s not that it’s bad, but it’s sincerely«just okay». My salmon capellini had zero flavor, and my boyfriends steak was a thin, very small piece of rubber. Both entrees were around $ 18 each. I can find a much better meal for a lot less in Lafayette. I’ve given Walt’s 2 chances. I won’t be giving it anymore.

My wife and I stopped in to Walt’s hoping to find a new regular dinner spot. We were really disappointed. We ate at the bar and the service we extremely slow. Our food was mediocre at best. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich. I was confused by the bad taste of the ‘buffalo’ sauce. I asked for a side of it and the waiter brought out a saucer of an oily black mess. My wife barely touched her salad due to the bad taste of the dressing. I had high hopes because I love any local restaurant that supports the community but Walt’s fell well short of our even lowest expectations.

Service was terrible, and ruined the experience for us. We came mid-afternoon and it wasn’t busy. We may have been our server’s only table. She was never around, so didn’t notice that it took 20 minutes to get our appetizer, and another 30 min to get our food – and then only after we flagged down another server. We saw the other server talking to the manager about it, but he obviously wasn’t concerned. No one acknowledged there was a problem. So, conclusion – this must be their norm. The menu has some interesting options, and the food is ok, but was only lukewarm when it came out. So, in summary, we won’t be coming back to Walt’s

Service was terrible to the point where we almost left before our drink order was taken. I got the pork tenderloin sandwich, which was edible but not memorable, and the tenderloin had significant grey streaks in it, which is my standard criterion 0 for a pork tenderloin in Indiana. If it aint all white, it aint alright. My companion ordered some kind of salmon pasta which consisted of what appeared to be canned, dyed pink salmon, soggy overdone noodles, and a shitload of raw garlic. Totally inedible. She sent it back and got buffalo shrimp, which had no detectable buffalo sauce flavor or spiciness, only overwhelming soy sauce flavor. Which maybe would be ok at Sgt Prestons where the ‘Lambeau’ style is clearly marked as ‘classic buffalo’ and ‘buffalo’ as an asian sauce(and both are delicious but that’s another review), but she was expecting the spicy red stuff. Never going back. On the plus side, the atmosphere seemed totally composed of chain-smoking(we sat outside) Lafayette country club members slamming some white wine. If you’re into that, maybe this is your spot.

Walt’s is a local favorite. The building is new(it used to be across the street). When you enter there is a bar/dining area. Off to the side is a family room with walls that the kids can draw on. There is an upstairs room that features a balcony with seating. The menu is the usual pub type food, including a selection of entrees named after local high schools. Of course, the breaded pork tenderloin is a feature(because this is Indiana). The Boilermaker(named for the Purdue University mascot) is a cheeseburger dipped in beer batter and deep fried. I haven’t tried it because I’m not ready to induce a heart attack. The catfish is great, and so is the Windsor. The prices are very reasonable. The wait staff can be spotty but there are good servers and just average ones. Been here many times and I’m a local so I’m very likely to return.

Had a deep fried cheese burger here. It was amazing. I was a little unsure as I’d never been here before or even heard about it, but the place was actually really nice inside. Apparently the buffalo chicken sandwich is amazing as well. This place should be a staple for Purdue students and I feel comfortable saying it is soon to be one of my favorite places to frequent in Lafayette. Also, $ 423 ounce bloody Mary’s on Sunday with in house infused pepper vodka.

This past weekend, we celebrated my Father-in-laws birthday at Walts Other Pub. This was my first time visiting. We had reservations for 5:30 and were seated immediately. Our server was friendly but her attentiveness declined during our meal. I think she got slammed and wasn’t receiving too much help from any other servers/managers. On to the food… We ordered the BBQ wings for an app. They were just OK. I have experienced better. Several of the menu items also came with Velveeta cheese. Ewww. Do people still eat that? Invest in some REAL cheese! I finally decided to order the Chicken Malibu and waffle fries. The chicken was topped with ham and mozzarella cheese and had a delicious spicy mustard. It was very good. I would order it again. I, along with four other people in my party, ordered a side salad. The salad was good but would have been better if it hadn’t been served at the same time as our meal! Our server had too many tables and we kind of got forgotten. Overall, it was an alright experience. We don’t come to Lafayette very often so I am not sure if we would dine here again

This was my first and last time at this or any of Walt’s pubs. But first, the good — our waitress was wonderful, cheery and helpful. However, the food was a major disappointment. I ordered the House Garbage salad, which was supposed to offer a combination of lettuce, chicken strips, tomatoes and more. Instead, I received a huge pile of lettuce, a large helping of olives, a smattering of chicken strips and about three small pieces of a diced tomato. It’s like they weren’t even trying. The restaurant was not very busy — I guess I know why now — so the kitchen help should not have been in a rush. If a restaurant cannot handle a basic salad, I don’t trust them with any other food.

While visiting Indiana my boyfriends family came here as a 3 way birthday trip(himself, his father, and his grandmother). I had briefly Unilocaled WOP before arriving and agree with Chris M.‘s review — the parking lot will look scarily full, but this place is so big that you wonder where all the people have gone. We(a large party of 14) were seated in the secondary room at one of the large party tables. This room was fun because they had a wall where the kids(or childish 24 year old Unilocalers) could draw on the wall. My boyfriends little sister and I promptly took hold of the markers(although some were dry and could use replacing) and had fun writing a birthday message. We went on a Sunday which had $ 3 rum specials. They had a variety of flavors and I’m pretty sure I went with cherry rum and sprite. For $ 3 I couldn’t go wrong! I believe they also had $ 4 giant Bloody Marys which some in our party found too spicy, but once again — for $ 4 can you really complain? We ordered apps family style and I enjoyed sampling the fried pickles($ 6.99), southwest egg rolls(always a favorite /$ 7.50), and loaded potato bites($ 6.99). For my main course I went with the surf and turf($ 18.99) which included an 8oz. fillet and 4 jumbo shrimp. It also came with a cesar salad and with the waffle fries(which admittedly were not that good). For a sweet treat I went with the cheesecake roulette and ended up with an oreo cheesecake it was delicious and covered in fudge — I so did not want to share that! I also sampled some brownie madness, and was in heaven when I was given a woodchuck cider and the remnants of a margarita. Service was friendly, and the one server was able to handle our bustling and loud table(she did great, but she probably would have appreciated some help). One negative(and lack of star) would be that they ran out of baked potatoes(which honestly I was DYIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING for) and the way the waitress made it sound was like they completely ran out(no «oh, it might be ten minutes or so for a potato» just«there’s none»). Besides that(and the waffle fries which I would not recommend) we had a real nice, festive, family meal and the overall experience was enjoyable. I would return to WOP and would recommend it to others.

My girlfriend and I decided to try a place we hadn’t been to in Lafayette. We searched Unilocal! And found Walt’s Other Pub. The reviews were excellent. Our experience unfortunately was not. We started with wings. We ordered buffalo, but they seemed almost like teriyaki. Dry, a couple of them hard as a rock. My girlfriend ordered the pork chips. The vegetables looked like they were straight out of a steamer bag from the super market. The pork chop itself was almost like rubber. When I spoke with the manager, he proceeded to tell me why the wings are the way they are. And then told my girlfriend that he could give her a small discount, but not much because she had eaten too much. Needless to say, we won’t be repeat customers.

My wife and I have visited Walt’s Other Pub twice now, and both times have been great! The staff members are friendly and attentive. The service is quick and you can tell that everything is prepared fresh. The menu offers a manageable variety of options and each dish we have tried has been delicious. The facility is expansive, with nice woodwork around the bar, a fireplace, and outdoor seating options for nicer weather. This is where we will take visiting guests for a great evening of food, drink, and festivity!
