If I was rating Dr. Anella and his dental hygienist I would give them both a 5 star rating. They were excellent! However, I have to give my overall experience a 1 star rating because I was mislead by the billing staff. When I called in to schedule my first appointment I gave the lady my insurance information over the phone and was under the impression they accepted my insurance plan and would check my benefits before providing services. I was asked to provide proof of insurance when I arrived for my visit and the receptionist made a copy of my insurance card. After I was finished with my cleaning and x-rays I was told, again by the receptionist/billing lady, that I needed to call my insurance company myself and inquire about how much recommended services would cost me following my visit(filling, crown, etc). She explained that she was unable to call herself per the insurance company’s request(I later found out this was in fact untrue). Over the phone I was told this dentist was not covered by my plan. When I called Dr. Anella’s receptionist back she told me that unfortunately they NEVER check insurance benefits and they are not contracted with any insurance companies. I was very upset to find out that I would be spending nearly$ 200 out of pocket on services that should have been covered by my insurance policy. When I asked why she could not be upfront with patients when they first called to avoid this situation I was not given an answer. Basically, make sure you call your insurance company yourself before ever contacting this dental office!!!

Dr Anella and his staff are great. I never dread my appointments with them, like I used to with other dentists. They are a kind bunch and extremely competent.
