I didn’t know this location closed. :( Just wanted to write a review for all the birthdays and dinner celebrations held here. The staff have always been super friendly and professional here. Everything on the menu was something I’d be able to share with someone else at the table due to their large portions. I’m sure everyone was used to the amount of college students that would frequent this BJ’s due to its proximity to UCSD’s campus. Love and miss their pizzas, appetizers, and pizookies!

Had the Surachi brussels sprouts tonight — — a meal in itself. Now that the theaters closed, the restaurant is calmer. It easier to have conversations. The service is impeccable. A great variety of delectable delights to choose from. I was never really a big fan of BJ’s, but tonight I was sold. Great food, great staff, superclean, and solidly accommodating!

25 $ for a large deep dish pepperoni pizza. It was very greasy and below average. May I suggest going to CVS buying a 5 dollar frozen Digiornio and throwing it in the oven. You will save 20 bucks and it tastes better. 2 stars because the service was good and the hostess was friendly.

I’ve been here a few times several years ago but recently came back to try since I started working in the area. I don’t really remember my previous experiences so I was pretty open to trying this location again. I ordered a medium rare Sirloin Steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My boyfriend ordered the Barbeque Lunch Platter(pulled pork slider, chicken breast, fries, coleslaw, and BBQ sauce). Since I was on my lunch break I asked to also put in the an order for a pizookie so I could enjoy it right after finishing my meal. Our server told us we would have to wait until after we finished eating our entrees to order it. I’m not really sure if this is a standard practice at this location, but I don’t understand why we would have to wait. He walked away before I could ask why. Our food felt like it took an eternity to come out. It might have been the fact that I was on a time limit, but the slow service magnified how slowly the food took to come out. Our server wasn’t around so we couldn’t ask for him to check on our meal. Someone who was not our server gave us our food. I cut into my steak to find that it was well done… And a couple of my asparagus did not have their white-ish ends trimmed off. I waited for a while for our server to come by /for him to be somewhere in the dining area so I could have my order corrected. Unfortunately, he was nowhere to be seen our entire meal(at least he was neglecting all the customers equally). I decided to just eat the steak since I needed to return to work. He came by at the very end of our meal to refill our water for the first time, ask us how our meal was(a little late for that…), and give us the check. Overall displeased with my experience. I won’t be coming back to this location. On a pleasant note, the pulled pork slider was pretty good.

Came here for my first time at BJs 2 years ago. Didn’t like it so I never personally wanted to go to BJs but after my boyfriend took me to two other ones I like it. Came here today and I still didn’t like it. I guess it’s just this location. –slow service –wrong order –plain taste –small restaurant And the hostesses would not stop staring at me!!! Felt real uncomfortable and annoyed. BJ’s is good but I don’t like this location. Our busser was really nice though.

Expensive and small of the typical B Js Only beer and wine No bar area Ordered a cheeseburger medium Sent back No cheese. Waiter returned said they put it under the broiler to melt the cheese then slapped the sauce they forgot as well .Made it dry and meh I’m probably not returning or recommend this place. Manager? Listening? Wait staff QC order before served!!!

I don’t know what it is about BJ’s but it really appeals to me lately. The service is always good, I like earning points toward free pizookies(nom!) and I like their beer and the fact that my «cheap-date» self can buy the taster sizes for $ 2.50 instead of a regular size beer. I love their chopped salad, their appetizers(the hubs and I like to several apps and nosh on them for our dinner). Overall, just an easy choice when looking for some comfort food and tasty beers and a simple evening.

Pizookie. That’s literally the only reason I come here. The first time I came here was with my suitemates freshmen year of college. They kept saying pizookie this and pizookie that on the way and I was like wth is a pizookie and they were like«you’ll see.» And I saw indeed… So we got to the restaurant and ordered our own food and we decided to share one big pizookie. To be honest, I don’t even remember what I ordered for myself or how it tasted because all I could remember was my first pizookie experience. It was just… Divine. After I took a bite I realized that I was missing out for 18 years. This is a whole new land I’ve never discovered. How can something taste so amazing?! What sorcery is this?! No exaggeration. Ever since then I’m a super big fan of pizookie. But of course I don’t go very often, in fact I barely go because the calories are just too scary to think of. I think I went once with a guy friend and we’re supposedly on a date so I didn’t want to be rude not not order any real food. So I ordered like a side salad but the whole time I was thinking about the pizookie. Man I don’t even remember what we were talking about at all I wanted was him to finish his meal so I can have my pizookie! Anyways my favorite pizookie flavor would definitely be cookies n cream! But seriously tho every flavor is good! I find the macadamia nut one just a little too sweet but whatever I love macadamia nut so I still get it! Other than the pizookie, I heard the real food like pizza pasta salad whatever is not very good. Can’t really judge myself coz my experience is always overwhelmed by the pizookie and my ability to judge other food normally is just shut down.

How can you not love BJ’s? This place is a California staple and I always enjoy my time dining at one. My usual order includes pizza, because how could it not? But this time I went for the jalapeño burger. Venturing out proved wise as it was delicious. You MUST finish the night with a pizzookie. Especially if you’ve never had one before. Tonight I got cookies and crème. Yum!

We’ve been here several times with groups of 8 or 9 before movies. It’s very convenient to the Landmark La Jolla Theatres. Some of their pizzas are pretty good, but some are just average. I like the buffalo wings, but, although they say they give you a bunch of celery and lots of sauce, what appears on the plate is four, very thin, strips of celery with a small amount of dressing and a small amount of buffalo sauce for dipping. They did give me more of each on request. All in our party said that they food was«adequate», but nothing more. The service was good and friendly, but the gal who took our reservation messed it up. Good thing I called early the same day to «confirm» because otherwise, we wouldn’t have had the big table as I previously called to reserve. The manager was nice in taking care of it when I called back. I’ll go back and get their wings or a salad only because it’s convenient to the theatres.

No bar area, changed the menu and root beer was very warm :( So those were just things out of the waiters hands, but his service wasn’t the best either. Only came by out table once and never refilled our waters :(Kinda bummed on this location. We drove 12 miles just to go to Bjs for the pazookie. It was smaller then they use to be, but still amazing. And I’m sad to say this is one of the lowest stars I have put on Unilocal :(

They have good beer. Food is clearly lacking but I don’t blame BJ’s.(It is a franchise after all). I always get the Cajun Pasta.

Came here for brunch and to watch a bit of the game. This particular location is extremely small. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi Pasta. It took 14 minutes to finally get my food. I was becoming irritated and restless because I was so hungry and the wait time did not help. Anyways, back to the food… the pasta was alright. Noodles were a little plain but I liked the soft texture to it. The shrimp was the best part of the pasta; I ate all the shrimp and there was still ¾ of the plate left. The garlic bread was the worst part of the dish. It was extremely hard that I could barely bite into it. I felt like I was eating a rock. I was very disappointed because I usually love garlic bread. Service was mediocre, wasn’t the best. Our waiter checked on us once and didn’t come back to refill my drink until I had to keep looking for him. I don’t think I’ll be going to this location again. I was sad that my brunch did not satisfy my tummy. Not only did it not satisfy me, but I had a stomachache when I got home…

Went here today after my half marathon to stuff myself with some food. I haven’t been here in a while in several years and I’ve forgotten how small this place is compared to other BJ’s locations in town. Being a Sunday with the football playoff game going on, we expected it to be crowded. We were surprised when there were only several tables occupied, so we didn’t have to wait at all to be seated. This may have been the only good thing about today’s visit. We were seated and greeted by our waiter, and he took our drink orders, which we got in a few minutes. I heard beer is good for you after a long run, so I got myself a hefeweizen haha. Not usually a beer drinker so some friends were surprised. I ordered the Rib-eye with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and my gf ordered the jambalaya. I was pretty disappointed in how the Rib-eye tasted. I mean, I’m not trying to compare it to Ruth’s Chris by any means, but I expected more. I like my steaks juicy, especially if it’s a ribeye, but this one was really dry. Some parts, it seemed like I was chewing on rubber. The seasoning was overwhelming, like it was lathered with salt and pepper, not good at all. Regardless, I still finished it, probably because I was so hungry, The jambalaya was good, but it was also too salty. Service wasn’t good either. The waiter checked up on us, asked how we were doing, and even noticed that we needed refills for our drinks, but it took forever for him to do it. By the time he came, I already almost finished my gf’s glass of water. Will most likely opt for some other restaurant in the future if we were in the area.

Second time here! Came here for 3 month anniversary with my boyfriend! Thursday night around 7 pm. I’ve never tried a deep dish pizza in my life, so we got a Mediterranean mini pizza, which was four slices. We also ordered the light version of the cherry chipotle glazed salmon, which came on a bed of couscous and asparagus. Pros: –fish was amazing! And the dish itself was only 500 calories. BJs does a well done job on making the less calorie dishes amazing… guilt free meals! –Service was nice! Even though the place was packed, but everyone was nice and super friendly about the situation. Cons: –The bathrooms are a little gross. I went into the women’s stall and found a dead grasshopper on the floor! :( –Presentation of the food was okay. I was expecting a cooler presentation of the deep dish mini, but I guess that’s what we get for ordering a mini pizza. Tips: They don’t take reservations, but you can always call 40 minutes before you arrive to put your name on the list! We did this, and got the next available table. Overall, I would come here again to try other dishes!

Mini Gourmet 5 meat pizza is not worth the price. Too small, not enough pizza sauce on it. Santa Fe salad is worth the price. Order a salad if you like greens. I’d give a laundry list of what happened but Unilocal might pull this review for being too honest so I will just say overall first time visit was not good. I’ll give the workers the benefit of the doubt and say maybe they had a very bad off day and pose a question to the public. Can the public give Unilocal a Unilocal review? Last review of the yr. I bid 14 and this Bj’s adieu. Cheers

I LOVEBJS! I usually goto the Escondido location and have a couple drinks with my girls and share a pazookie. This place does not have a bar, it’s smaller that most locations and they just don’t have the room for it. They offer a small selection of beer. They also do not carry red velvet pazookies anymore. I got the half and half white chocolate macadamia and peanut butter one, and it was scrumptious as usual! You can mix any of the pazookies together, I recommend doing this. My waitress was nice and was very informative on why everything is soo different from the average BJs. I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this location again, but that won’t stop me from going to a different BJs.

Our food came out quickly as soon as we finally got to meet our waiter. He was nice but we barely got a welcome otherwise. The no one really even said hi when we came in. Our waiter eventually told us that they were busy and shorthanded(which would have made me more patient if he said it at the beginning instead of when we were getting our check…) 1. Table not wiped 2. Waitress brought out another drink holding the tip of straw with finger. 3. We asked for no tomatoes and no onions on our pizza and it came with so many tomatoes!

Three stars for the pizza, five stars for the pizookie! While the Chicken(Bacon, which I removed) Ranch Deep Dish Pizza was good, it wasn’t what I expected. I guess I’m used to Chicken Ranch pizzas having a white or ranch sauce at other restaurants instead of a the usual red sauce and this pizza had the standard red sauce with the ranch drizzled over the top. Not bad but I think I prefer my ranch pizza with white sauce. I did like the deep dish though. The highlight of the meal was the Cookies and Cream Pizookie. The dessert was the perfect amount of sweet, gooey goodness to top of the meal. I highly recommend this moist chocolate cookie with ice cream for dessert! Delicious!

Make the drive to any other BJ’s location! Never had the best service at this location but it’s close to home so I order to go quite often. Unfortunately after my most recent experience I will never be ordering from this location again. Opened my salad to see a tissue inside, with the rest of the salad looking like it had been eaten. Obviously a mistake, I called to see what I should do. Got handed over to the manager who didn’t believe that they had made a mistake, that«they didn’t even use those kind of napkins», that she personally had boxed up my salad to go and it didn’t look like this when it left the restaurant, that if an employee had done this they would be fired on the spot. All I was asking for was my money back. I ended up driving back to show them what my salad had looked like when I opened it and got absolutely no sympathy, just excuses saying it wasn’t their fault. I should NEVER have to argue with a business on receiving something like this, absolutely ridiculous. The response by management was horrendous and I have never experienced service like this.
