I just walked out of this place. I’m pretty appalled. After 4 hrs of diagnosis, they came back with a price of $ 560. Immediately called a neighboring auto shop and they estimated at $ 300 lower for the EXACT SAME work. Additionally, the front desk man Bruce tried to pile on extra, completely unnecessary fixes. Avoid this place. They are the classic scheming, wallet-​gouging mechanic shop that nobody needs in their life. 30 years in existence and 6 customer reviews? Ouch.

Absolutely deceitful. My car wouldn’t start and had to have it towed to a shop so I called around Kirkland and I had asked Fisher’s for an out the door quote for an alternator as I did with all of the other 3 quotes. (AAA had come out to jump start my car and indicated that it was probably needing an alternator.) I ended up having my car towed to Fisher because Doug, the man who answered the phone, indicated that it may not be the alternator but something minor like a slipped belt. They checked it out and then called me the next morning and left a message saying that the found the problem and it «was not serious». When I called back, Doug told me that it was the alternator at over $ 700. That is not serious enough??? When I mentioned that the quote was over $ 100+ more than the original he told me that there was tax and the diagnosis that he had told me about. When I mentioned how expensive it was he, instead of waiving the diagnosis came down a few dollars to $ 691. I should have gone with Price in Kirkland. He was really knowledgeable and total out the door with tax and diagnosis was $ 585 and using the same good quality brand alternator as Fisher. Frustrating when they take advantage like this, especially being a woman. They don’t deserve to be in business.

I really wanna’ like this place, I really do. I’ve come in for a couple oil changes for my 15 y.o. Toyota Tacoma. I work in Totem Lake, and they’re just a three minute driver over 405. Super convenient, and Bruce is super nice. They ended up alerting me that my steering and brake fluid needed to be flushed. I ended up getting my timing belt, water pump, and steering fluid done at Pacific Rim over in Seattle because they had a better price.
Last week, I was having issues starting up my truck. I suspected it was my starter, so I left work early and brought it to Fisher’s. Turns out it was the starter, and the grand total was going to be close to $ 800 ($ 771 to be exact). Being in the bind that I was in (truck having difficulty starting), I didn’t want to end up towing my truck later on to bring into the shop. It was MY error in not calling other shops to find better rates, but I did not anticipate being able to save roughly $ 450 at any other place I would’ve gone to. I ended up having my Check Engine light come on the following Friday. I had my MAF sensor replaced in Bellingham at Joe’s after he did the diagnostic. After the work was completed, I asked him out of curiosity about how much a starter replacement usually costs. He was quoting me at $ 308, including DENSO parts and labor. I showed him my receipt from Fisher’s, and he was stumped as to why labor alone would be so astronomically high (over $ 300). Another shop in Bellingham quoted me at $ 276, Pacific Rim in Seattle at $ 330, and Jay’s Kirkland Auto Care also at $ 330 (all using DENSO parts).
Andy over at Jay’s was kind enough to explain to me that a certain degree of troubleshooting could’ve been involved to determine that it was a starter issue, which may have increased the labor (but wasn’t mentioned when I payed). Would certified mechanics need to dick around that much to determine that it was a starter? When I asked Bruce about the labor break down, it all seemed to be rudimentary (competitive prices in Kirkland, their mechanics are certified, the parts aren’t rebuilt, blah blah).
I don’t question the quality of work by Fisher’s, but I do question their labor costs. I do question whether they take advantage of customers when there are serious issues at hand. The best I can do is give them three stars (than one or two), and never come back again.

Why they been at there location for 30 year and only have 4 reviews? My wife took my car in for a check enigine light. I think I made the mistake on telling Kyle that my wife and I don’t know much about cars. So they did there check, got a call later in the day and went in. He (Kyle) said they needed to open up the engine and check the timing belt. Another 100 $ on top of the 150 $ for the other work. So I said OK go and fine out. Day 2, Sure enough the belt jumped up 2 tooth. Need to replace the timing belt. The night be for I been research and watching clip on YouTube, asking friends. Got a call later that day and he said 1850 $ on top of the 250 $. WTF!!! So I told him to put it all back together. And he better have it running cause I brought it to him running.

This is the type of business I feel is taking advantage of me but not with these guys. Fair pricing, good service. Good guys I will send my friends to them

The check engine light on my 2002 Subaru Outback had been on for a while, so I took the car into a couple shops to have it checked out. Two shops quoted me at around $ 1200 for a new catalytic converter and 3 hours labor. Then, I took the car into Fisher’s where Kyle confirmed that I needed the replacement. He quoted me at $ 950 for parts and labor. He said that 3 hours was ridiculous for a catalytic converter replacement, and that his shop could easily do it in 1.5 hours. Sadly, I still couldn’t afford the repair.
Fast forward a few months, my engine light is still on, and the emissions test was looming. I knew that I needed to suck it up get the part replaced or lose my registration. I called Fisher’s and they were able to book my appointment the very next day. When I brought the car in, Kyle was upfront with me and told me that because the catalytic converter was after-​market (and hence the lower price), there was a 20% chance that the thing would punk out within two years. He offered to get the more expensive part from the dealer within thirty minutes if I wasn’t comfortable with this. I told him to go ahead with the repair.
Here’s the kicker! About 45 minutes later, Kyle told me that the did another scan and it turned out that I didn’t need a new cat. He couldn’t explain it, but apparently no error codes showed up on the scan this time around. He charged me for nothing but the routine inspection. He could have just replaced the part and I’d have been none the wiser. I appreciate the honesty at Fisher’s because I’m certain that if I’d have brought the car to one of the original shops, they’d have easily charged me that $ 1,200.
Kyle and Co. saved me over $ 1000, and I passed the emissions test. Also, I happened to leave my book in the waiting room and Kyle called me to let me know about that, too. I guess I could add the library replacement fee to the money that Fisher’s saved me. Needless to say, I highly recommend Fisher’s Auto Service.
