Doug’s Auto Tune & Repair

I have to say, these guys are the best. they are incredibly amazing and just all around great guys. I had been in a car accident and had to buy a new car, it needed some maintenance such as oil change, tightening of belt, etc. They did it all and at an amazing price. a couple weeks later my coworkers noticed oil in the parking lot and after breaking down from there bieng no oil in the car, I called Dougs about 30 minutes before they closed and they had a towing company tow my car back to Kirkland from Issaquah at no charge. I then received a call the very next day and Josh had told me that they had possibly not tightened the oil filter cap as it was completely missing and had bought me an entirely new engine due to the damage that was done from not having oil in the car and at no cost to me. I am incredibly grateful and appreciative of them. such a simple mistake that anyone could have made and they made up for it 10 fold. Thank you Josh and everyone at Dougs Auto tune, you guys are truly amazing!

Finally I have found an auto shop I can trust! The staff at Dougs is very much a family atmosphere. They’re not only incredibly friendly but also extremely honest! After visiting an auto shop and getting a $ 900 bid to fix my car, I took it to Dougs and they simply fixed it for $ 150. They let me know that the part the other place wanted to repair was in fine condition and that the only part that was needed was $ 150 fix. The other group wanted to simply take advantage of me and Dougs did the right thing. Since then, my car is still perfect! Dougs has also now maintained all of my other cars as well. Josh and Crew = an easy 5 STAR rating!

My car was stalling and sputtering, I was afraid I couldn’t get it to my preferred shop in Lynnwood, so I took it to Doug’s, up the street, got a rental, and waited. The next day, I got a call, to come in and discuss. The gentleman gave a VERY thorough analysis of my car, and what could potentially be wrong with it. He recommending a full tune up, and a couple other tweaks, that may or may not do the trick. His quote was upward of $ 1,200. I’d already put up more than $ 100 between the rental and the diagnostic fee, and the car wasn’t worth more than $ 2,000 KBB anyway, so I decided to risk it and drive it up to my Lynnwood shop. $ 107 later, my rig was running perfectly. I don’t know all the nuances about cars and fixes, but insisting on spending more money to do a broad spectrum tune up, rather than admitting they couldn’t pin point the real issue, wasn’t the way to go for me. Nice guy though.

Needed some help exchanging out the bulbs of my headlights. Stopped by on Mon. ¹²⁄₁₄ a little before lunch time. I forgot the names of the people who helped me out, but the customer service here is excellent! These guys were able to help me on the same-​day, which was really nice. I was in a bit of a tight spot because of this awful rainy weather and I do late night commutes. Will definitely be back again if I need more serious fixes. Came here for a second opinion on my Toyota after being pushed by Toyota of Kirkland Service Department for multiple fixes that would cost upwards of $ 2,000.
These guys are the real deal.
Even just sitting in the waiting room, I overheard Josh trying to buy flowers for a customer of his. I work in a customer service type field and will always applaud a business who can set their customers first.
Long story short, my car is fine… Although, if I do have any problems, I will be bringing it to this business.

Highly recommended! I was having an issue with my battery and my car would only intermittently start. Most shops didn’t have time to help me. I was asked to leave Firestone because they were too busy. Others told me it was $ 100 just to take a look at it. Doug helped me out big time! Out of kindness, he took a look at the battery and ran through what my options were and what he would personally do.
Doug cares about his customers. He wants to help you and has a built a name for himself as someone you can trust at a fair and honest price. We all have our stereotypes of this industry, and my stereotype was just bad, but this guy and his team have defied every negative one of those stereotypes.
By the time I left I knew what I should do to fix my car. Luckily, the fix didn’t involve anything major so I didn’t need to use Doug’s repair services. I was really in a tough spot and when I didn’t know where else to turn to find someone who cared, I found this place. As long as I live in this STATE I’m coming to Doug’s with any of my car care needs. Truly above and beyond and I really appreciate him for that.

My wife and I have used Doug’s auto for the past 10 years, their value and service is top notch. Now that I’m a business owner I use them for my entire fleet as well. From oil changes to tire rotations, brake jobs, AC service, or whatever they do a great job and always advise me in a sensible way to look out for my best interests in a friendly — professional manner. Josh and Riley are real straight shooters which is hard to find nowadays.

I just wanted to follow up with my previous review. Josh (the business owner) immediately gave me a call the next day I made this post. I elaborated a bit more about my experience and sent him an email of the video and audio footage to confirm what I said.
Josh profusely apologized about how I was treated and wholeheartedly agreed that his guys dropped the ball on this matter. We chatted for about 45mins. He was humbled.
Josh offered to reimburse me for the cost of the repair at the third party shop. I graciously accepted his offer. It was, however, never my intent for this Unilocal review to solicit reimbursement (of course it does help!). I just wanted to share my experience.
So I’m faced with two options here. 1) Do I delete my previous negative Unilocal post and call it a day? Or 2) Do I write a follow up and share my thoughts? I choose the latter. Why? This is an eye-​opening experience. Too often I see businesses that are apathetic with their customer experience. Doug’s Auto Tune is not that type of business. I see in Josh integrity and accountability.
Most of the Unilocal reviews from this business were positive from the get-​go (and that was partly why I felt compelled I needed to share my initial story). Here, however, is an example of an experience that was started out negative. The business could have done nothing. But they choose not to. I am impressed.
So for you Unilocal readers here… The main question is should I bring my car here? YES! Of course! People make mistakes, nobody is perfect (I would like to think I am, but I’ve been told many times I’m not, heh heh). It is unfortunate that as consumers and merchants, you only get one shot to show off your best side. This was an one-​off experience and an experience that will undoubtedly make Doug’s Auto tune an even better business from what it is currently. What is important is how a merchant handles a bad situation. In this case Josh handled it exemplary. I would bring my car back any day.

Yep, as good as it gets! Spending money because something is broken is never pleasant, but Doug, Josh,
. do their very best to ease the pain. They explain the issue, perform service as promised, deliver on time and have reasonable prices, all the while giving a sense that should ANYTHING not meet your expectations regarding the repairs, they will be there to support and fix the problem.
Have gone there for years. Tried a few others and headed straight back. My mistake for using the others…

Called them for an emergency alternator belt re-​installment and I was in and out in under an hour for under 50 bucks! unbelievable in this day and age… very highly recommended… JB

My wife has used Doug’s for over 7 years while driving her beater and referred them to me when we first met. I’ve always been skeptical of mechanics. I’m a huge VW fan and had a 85 Scirocco that had a fuel issue right after I bought it (I know, I know, imagine that, right?) and took it to a mechanic that wanted over $ 2K to redo the whole fuel system, another that wanted $ 400 for a fuel pump (pump costed $ 30 and takes 20 minutes to replace) and another that said that it was an issue with the engine and he needed to tear it apart to find out what was wrong with it. Turns out the problem was a pre-​fuel pump inside of my gas tank that costed me $ 25 and 30 minutes of my time. This is just one instance of several where I’ve witnessed how mechanics will take advantage of you. Thank God for Doug’s Auto though. Josh is very fair and honest. I took my current car, a 00′ VW GTI GLX in for it’s 100K tune up. This will cost anywhere from $ 400-​$ 600 at any shop but the mechanic said that everything was in great shape after an oil change and a couple of filters and my bill was around $ 200. If there is a small issue that they see, they’ll warn you about it instead of pressuring you to fix it now or suffer the consequences like I’ve experienced before. IA couple of my friends have gone here and were also impressed with their ethics and workmanship. I just can’t say enough great things about Doug’s.

When I was new to the area, a friend recommended Doug’s because it’s the sort of place a girl who doesn’t know anything about cars can go and not get totally ripped off/​swindled. In fact, it’s quite the opposite! Josh & staff are always helpful and very accommodating, not to mention honest! I have since referred several girlfriends who also know nothing about cars here :)

My family and I have been taking our Business to Doug’s auto for as long as I can remember. You will not find a more honest hard working business.

I am still in awe! Doug’s was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, actively kept the prices under a number I requested, and they fixed my car after it had been damaged while stolen for $ 150. They fixed my ignition cylinder and headlights on my ’93 Civic without having to replace a thing, which I find impressive. Most mechanics would charge me around $ 400 for replacement parts instead of repairing existing parts (and that’s without the added cost of labor). I am now a loyal customer of Doug’s.

I’ve been using this shop for 5 years and have been very pleased with the quality of work, great value and the consistent employees who are there. My Buick Enclave had the door handle quit working from the inside. The dealer quoted $ 800+ because the broken part could not be ordered alone and they needed the whole assembly. Ian fixed the broken part and didn’t charge me. It’s been fine for several years now. I have a new Infiniti that they take care of as well as a lot of older Toyota work trucks. This is a fantastic shop and have sent lots of friends here.

This review is overdue… but I found myself comparing a repair place in my new town to Doug’s and I’m not sure anything will ever quite live up to it! I originally took my car to them as my CEL came on for catalytic converter reasons, but in diagnosing my car they found that it was just a faulty light with no actual problem. On multiple occasions they checked my car thoroughly and, finding nothing wrong, sent me on my way with no charge and a clean car. When they did do repairs/​work, they did great work at a fair price! It is rare to find a shop who instills such great trust in you instantly, but Doug’s did that. I wish I still could take my Audi to them!

I wish everyone was as good as these guys… I would give them 6 stars if I could.
They know their stuff, even about German and Japanese imports and have helped me out of SEVERAL tight spots.
Their customer service is FANTASTIC. Everyone who works there is incredibly nice, Josh and Riley especially. They make you feel welcome there and ensure you that your car will be up and running well in no time.
Very fair prices and by far the best shop I have ever been to. Can’t recommend highly enough.

You gotta love these guys. I run older model cars because the budget doesn’t allow a new one, so it’s a relief and a delight to find a shop that is competent and honest. If something goes wrong, and a less expensive fix will keep you going for a while, they’ll let you know about it and give you a choice.
I was referred by a friend years ago, really glad to have found them.

I got my oil changed at AAMCO. They told me I’d need to pay to get my car’s check engine light diagnosed, starting at $ 100! My dealership said the same thing. I started randomly looking up auto repair shops. I originally had no intention of paying $ 100 just to get the thing diagnosed, before any work had even been done on it. At my wits’ end, I eventually called Doug’s. I was told to bring the car by. Someone (I didn’t even get his name) popped the hood, plugged a little handheld computer into the car, and cleared the lights. He then told me that it could be only an unimportant problem that was turning the check engine light on. He quickly explained the possible problems to me. He then told me to get it checked out if the light turned back on, but that it was fine otherwise. No charge. The entire thing took less than 10 minutes.
If that light comes back on, I know exactly who I’m going to call.

If I could give Doug’s 10 stars, I would.
To get right to the point, Doug’s provides speedy, honest service with reasonable prices and definitely does not overcharge you for service or try to sell you on fix-​ups your car does not really need. Doug’s son, Josh, is incredibly friendly and personable. He called me throughout the day to update me on the progress of my car – so appreciated – and explained everything in detail to me.
When I went to pick my car up (it was repaired the same day I dropped it off, SUCH speedy service,) Josh walked me over to my car and spent some time to give me a run-​down on the status of my car and some incredibly useful and honest advice. And this was when I arrived 2 minutes to closing time!
Bottom line, I had an absolutely wonderful experience, and Doug’s definitely takes the sting out of bringing your vehicle in for repairs. I almost forgot to add that though the hourly labor pricing is a bit more than other shops I called around to, Doug’s quoted us the quickest actual labor time, saving us I’m sure a ton of money. So even if another place gives you a lower hourly rate, I could almost guarantee that you’ll still save money by going to Doug’s. And personally I’d rather give my business to such an honest and fair company who I know is not out to up sell me!
