History

Established in 1995.

Tropical Express Inc., better know as Capt Kidd Charters started it’s service in 1995. Chartering a couple different boats at that time, the business became very popular with information being spread by word of mouth only. Friends told friends, relatives told relatives, and soon the little secret was out. In 2000, Capt Kidd the schooner was launched in order to accommodate more passengers. Capt Kidd received it’s COI (certificate of inspection) from the U.S. Coast Guard in 2000, allowing the boat to carry more than 6 passengers. Capt Kidd is required to have yearly inspections by the Coast Guard to ensure the safety for it’s passengers. Currently, she is the only sailboat in the Clear Lake area that carries a U, S, Coast Guard Inspection and the only 19th Century replica schooner sailing commercially on the Texas Gulf Coast.

Capt Joe maintains Capt Kidd for Tropical Express Inc. and was instrumental in the building process while Capt Kidd was under construction. He takes care of all the schedules that are booked as well as choosing the crews that work the boat.
