I have gone on two cruise with Star Fleet in the last 30 days and enjoyed them both. I did the R&B cruise, the food was good and the DJ was GREAT! And the service was excellent as well. This past weekend me and my fiancé went on the Romantic Dinner Cruise, loved the fact that we got to see the sunset; the food was excellent. The staff is always great especially Jared the manager of public cruises.
If you have never been out on a dinner cruise or thinking about going on another one I would suggest you try Star Fleet! You be glad you did

This review is way past due. My ex and i went on the R n B cruise and it was wonderful. I think we went during off season because I rememeber it not being too crowded. It had rained earlier that day so the deck was a bit wet but once the drinks started flwoing half the guests were on the dance floor anyway.
We arrived a little late but were able to snag free parking in the garage. We took a picture and they rushed us onto the yacht.
The food was just ok, nothing to brag about. Salad, chicken, vegetable and for dessert peach cobbler with ice cream. You were able to eat as much as you wanted.
We were just there for the atmosphere (I love the water) and had no idea the dj would cater to the crowd. It turned out to be 80% African American and 20% other so he played a nice mix that kept everyone happy.
By the time we arrived back to the dock, a few guests had exchanged numbers and were headed to a bar on the Boardwalk together. I’m planning to go again soon, hope nothing has changed!

We just completed an event here for our 10 year wedding anniversary aboard the Star Cruiser about two weeks ago. I am giving Star Fleet 4 stars ONLY because of the magnificent job the boat manager Jared did that day. Otherwise, it’d be a three. But first thing first.
I honestly must say that I have mixed feelings about this experience simply because for part of the process, I felt like working with Michelle, the «event planner» was nothing but a sales tactic. Initially she seemed very concerned about our needs, but as we got closer to the date, she really tried to upsale us. To top it off, despite how much communication transpired between the both of us, on the day of our event, she failed to leave ANY instructions that we discussed for the crew! This day could have turned COMPLETELY sour, but the boat manager Jared stepped in like a pro and made this experience PHENOMENAL! He paid attention to our every need, made sure that everything went accordingly DESPITE the lack of instructions, and made sure everyone enjoyed themselves.
I will be writing a personal thank you letter because I cannot say thank you enough.
Overall, I think Star Fleet is one of the better boats for dinner cruises in the area, but I truly hope they do not forget the value of GREAT customer service along the way.

NOT FOR VEGETARIANS For the price I was hoping for a better experience, my girl and I took the romantic dinner and we were a bit disappointed on the food, when I purchased the tickets It said that if you had a vegetarian request to let them know so I did since my girl is a vegetarian, the day of the dinner they sat us down on a table and they reminded us of the vegetarian request but once they first brought us our salad for starters my girls salad had chunks of bacon n my girl is allergic to bacon, we told the waitress and they brought her a another with no meat, the main course was a plate of mahi mahi with steamed broccoli and some not good at all pasta, when they brought my girls plate it only had the broccoli and a big chuck of pasta n considered it a vegetarian meal, we were both disappointed, the pasta had almost no flavor n nothing else really, they should consider vegetarians better when it comes to the food, vegetarians love veggies and fruit more than pasta. The music was boring we weren’t feeling it at all, they had instrumental music playing n some guy playing the saxophone going alone with the music… We spent most of our time outside enjoying the view… Definetly not worth what we paid for…

I recently went on the Friday Fireworks Cruise, and loved it! Great staff, very accommodating and polite, fun music. I was afraid it would be sweltering, but the top deck had a fantastic breeze. Will definitely go again and bring a big group!

The fireworks display is BIG! There were so many boats out on the water to watch them. Quite a spectacle.
The Star Fleet Cruise was wonderful! A nice breeze on the top deck and nice cool AC in the lower deck. Great service, great food. A unique and relaxing way to have some fun on the water.
The DJ and dancing was a lot of fun!

Star Gazer Yacht on New Year’s Eve 2012. $ 134 a person!
I wish we had a better experience. We had a great time, because we were celebrating and we made the best of it, but the cruise was lacking.
First, there were too many people packed into the tables. They were so tight that every time someone wanted to get up and move around, everyone had to move to let them out.
The food was marginal. The worst was the bacon wrapped figs. It became a joke at the table to make someone eat one. The desserts were better.
It was open bar, in tiny ass little cups. My husband needed a new beer every 5 seconds. The off-​brand free champagne was disgusting– even the low-​class people at our table who though it was a good idea to buy a whole bottle thought it was gross.
The weather was bad, so we couldn’t really enjoy the deck. There is no covered outside deck.
My husband said there was vomit in the men’s urinal that no staff bothered to clean up.
We tried to be responsible and take a cab. We called an hour before we docked and they still weren’t there. There were about 20 people waiting for a cab, with no seating or outdoor cover of any kind for those waiting for a ride.
It’s New Years– work a deal for your patrons and have some cabs there waiting. You know what time you dock and kick everyone off. I literally had to take my heels off and run to the upper parking for a cab to beat the group trying to get to Galveston.
The only redeeming quality was our waiter, Wes. That guy needs a raise. He tried his best to keep a tiny cup in our hands and acted like he enjoyed working on a boat, on New Years, in the rain.
It’s a great idea, but they have things they need to work on.

We just recently moved to South Shore Harbor and my wife and I decided to take a Star Fleet Cruise for our 13^th Anniversary. It was a great evening — and a great way to see the Bay and coastline. The staff was extremely friendly (including wait staff and ship staff.) The specific cruise we did was centered around tasting wine by «One Hope» which is decent.
The food was the surprise stand-​out of the evening. Featured was a «pork rib eye’ which I’d never had before… it was a 2» cut of pork that was cooked absolutely perfectly. The sides were wonderful too. Really quite impressive.
Another surprise stand-​out was the entertainment. They had an acoustic guitarist/​singer that was one of the best we’ve heard. Danny Ray was his name, and I believe he is actively book local gigs if you’re interested.
Price: I believe we paid $ 100 /​ticket, which for 2.5 hrs, entertainment, wine paired dinner, seems like a pretty good value to us.
Yacht: The Star Cruiser is not huge… but on the flat bay, it was very stable. I think there were about 10 – 12 tables in large open center, so it’s a nice friendly/​intimate setting. One could easily rent the whole boat for a private dinner I bet.

I went on the murder mystery dinner cruise for my 27^th birthday, needless to say I was extremely disappointed. The food was bland, overcooked and hard to swallow at best. Oh yeah they also ran out of food and messed up our drink orders. The service was horrible; rude and rushed waitress for a small crowd. DO NOT spend $ 79 for this crap. I give this negative 2 stars!!!

We took the Valentine’s Day cruise yesterday and unfortunately we were very disappointed yet at the same time amused. After getting there early (as suggested) we waited and waited in line because there was ONE person checking off names and taking your picture as you walked in. I read in someone else’s post that they felt like cattle waiting in line and I would say that is an accurate depiction of the situation we experienced.
When we walked in we were escorted to our table where our reservation said «table for 2, table #4», which should have read «table for 8, table #4». Yea you can imagine our surprise when we realized we were spending our Valentine’s Day with three other couples including a couple in their seventies who soon as we approached said «you’re gonna be our buddies for the night». You can only imagine our surprise! This should have been explained when people buy these things. My boyfriend paid good money to spend time with me and have a romantic evening but we ended up spending it with strangers. We couldn’t even have a conversation without everyone else ease dropping or chiming in. I thought Valentine’s Day was supposed to be intimate?
Anyways, a few points in the night we were unsure if the Captain knew where he was going. We were startled when we got inches from another boat and thought we were on the titanic about to hit this boat. Maybe it was just a friendly honk and let’s get close to the other star fleet boat, but frankly it didn’t appear to be that.
The food was mediocre for the price. The stuffed fish was a little bland and the desert was a chocolate cup filled with what looked and tasted to be just strawberries with whip cream on top with not very much effort put into it. The couple next to us even said, «it’s okay we will just stop by Jack in Box on the way home to get some cheesecake».
I just wanted to post this so others are aware of what you are getting into if you are trying to find something special to do with your significant other, because this is probably not the best choice for an evening alone.

My husband purchased a daytime brunch cruise for us through Groupon. This gave us access to a «Champagne Brunch» for half the normal cost of $ 150. Had we spent the full amount I would have been really disappointed, but since we only spent $ 75 it made the experience ½ as painful. We arrived to the spot about 15 minutes before the cruise was about to take off. There was some serious confusion between the numerous guests about which ship to board. One was quite larger (and seemed nicer) than the other one. It was also hot as hell out that day and we had to wait in line in the hot blistering sun (with no shade) for over 30 minutes while people figured out which boat to get on and the girl checking the tickets took pictures of people boarding the boat. It seemed like it took each couple 5 minutes to «check in», mostly due to the fact that the same person checking in was in charge of the photo ops.
We finally boarded the boat, only to find that we were seated cafeteria style at a long table squished between other couples. So much for a quiet and private brunch alone with my husband. We were bombarded from both sides with chatty couples for most of the cruise while being serenaded by cheesy Jazz musicians. Fine, we could deal with this because we were starving and looking forward to champagne and brunch. Champagne turned out to be one small glass of champagne, served in a plastic cup and a brunch buffet that was beyond unpalatable.
The outdoor area of the boat was a tiny portion at the front of the boat that again had no covering, so it was way to hot to be out there for too long, not to mention crowded. For the retail price of $ 75 a person, we could have treated ourselves to a private table with table service, fresh lobster, a good bottle of champagne, and a nice view of the water from a restaurant in Kemah. Overall the experience was overpriced and cheesy. We stopped at Whataburger on the way home.
The staff was very nice and courteous, and there was plenty of food, (probably because no one went back for seconds.). The band was good, but it was slightly weird and uncomfortable when the sax player walked up to tables to serenade people and just stood there staring at you.

My husband and I recently did a two hour dinner cruise on one of their Star Fleet Yachts, and while it was kind of fun, overall it was more of a miss. It was a disco theme with a dinner buffet where we ate the first hour and then were encouraged to dance the second bit, all the while cruising around the Bay.
The good:
The staff was very, very friendly. I also enjoyed being able to throw beads at people alongside the boardwalk when we passed.
The bad:
1) The food was terrible. The chicken was barely edible, the mashed potatoes were awful, the salad didn’t look remotely tasty, and the bread was hard as a rock. I honestly would have preferred McDonalds food. They did have decent dessert though, although they ran out of a particular pie early on.
2) We pre-​ordered a photo to remember the evening, but it was taken outside the ship, right before boarding, in the dark. Needless to say it didn’t turn out that great. It would have been better inside, with better lighting.
3) We weren’t sure what the ship seating arrangement would be like, so we pre-​purchased «window» seats. However it was just a couple long tables where everyone sat, cafeteria style, and there were big enough windows where everyone could see. Moreover, since it was an evening crew there wasn’t anything to look at, so I don’t see the benefit of purchasing window seats.
4) Our server refilled our small drinks once. Perhaps if we ordered alcohol (which you had to pay for – and thus tip for) we might have received better service
5) Music was too loud the second half, and the «dancing area» was just a small section of the ship where the drunk people meandered over to.
Overall, while the concept seems promising, it just seemed like a waste of our time and money.

I recently took a romantic dinner cruise on the Star Fleet Yachts in Kemah, TX. I was disappointed in the dinner that was served and the service. It took at least 20 minutes to get our first drink. The fish was cold and soggy. The steak was greasy. The food reminded me of cafeteria food. Not what you would get from Luby’s but what you would get if you went to a high school. Yuck!
The atmosphere was nice but not worth $ 60 per person.

Attention all business owners! I’d like to give you an example of how Unilocal can be used to *help* your business.
Last year, I did the New Year’s cruise with Star Fleet Yachts and though my experience wasn’t phenomenal, I really wanted to give them a fair review. So a few days later, I wrote up my nice little blurb (see below) with a three star rating. Recently, the owner of the company (Tom L.) contacted me to discuss some of the points that I’d brought up in my review. Not only was he gracious about the shortcomings that I found, but he managed to show how he took the criticism well and actually made changes as suggested.
Whoa. Mind boggling, I know.
After a few messages, he laid out a few points and I’m copying them below (with his permission, of course):
1. Customers now receive an automated receipt of their purchase. They do not need to bring it but YES they do feel better about having one.
2. Customers now see a photo of the yacht they will be cruising on next to the «purchase tickets now» sign so if they don’t like one, they can pick another. Some people like the more casual boat others want to dress formally.
3. Our Sushi comes from Ichiban Restaurant 2 blocks away and we pick it up right before the cruise so it is always fresh.
4. Due to limited refrigeration space on the yachts we are restricted in our offerings of beer and wine. Our wine is the same as the house wine served at Pappadeux and Tommy’s Patio Café. Unfortunately you must have gotten a bottle that had gone bad.
5. Our DJ services are provided by Sound Connections. Obviously we did not meet your expectations and feel terrible about that.
Not only did he address many of my concerns, but he actually took the time to write me specifically (and not accusingly, I might add) to let me know of the improvements made with an invitation to give them another try.
Again, mind boggling.
I’d like to use Tom’s great approach to customer service as a guideline for how other business owners can not abuse Unilocal messaging, but rather see Unilocal as a tool to better their businesses. I know that just by a simple message, my opinion of the company has not only gone up exponentially, but I’m much more willing to give them another chance (Valentine’s Day cruise, anyone?). Such a wonderful exchange definitely garners them a whole new star from this Unilocaler!

The experience i had was not fun at all. First of all you can’t sorely judge this off of my one time bad experience. I was going on a New Year’s Eve Cruise, The weather was horrible, real windy and a little cool so we stayed inside most of the time, Luckily the dance floor was closed off from the nasty weather. They had an open bar but the good drinks had to be bought. So if anyone is going on this tour and it says open bar, it might be a good idea to bring some money with you. The food aboard was delicious, they had stuff like shrimp wrapped in bacon stuffed with crab meat, that was my favorite. I think this has the potential to be a good cruise as long as you are with the right people and the weather is nice. Their is a good possiblity that i would try this again
